Wild Voices: Pangolin

"Wild Voices: Pangolin" is a free augmented reality experience that allows anyone to meet and speak with a life-sized Temminck’s ground pangolin, from where ever they are, using their own mobile device. Temminck’s ground pangolins are facing increasing pressure from illegal wildlife trafficking and habitat loss. Despite occurring naturally in South Africa, most people will never encounter one in the wild. Wild Voices changes that. Using advanced, realistic 3D techniques and carefully trained conversational artificial intelligence, the app projects a scientifically informed, lifelike pangolin into your real environment. Walk around her. Get to know her by asking questions. Learn how she survives, what threatens her, what she enjoys, and why her protection matters. The experience is intentionally designed to reinforce real wildlife boundaries. If you move too close or speak harshly, she will respond as she would in nature: curling up into a protective ball until it feels safe again. Trust develops through kind and respectful interaction: she becomes more comfortable, allowing you to get closer. Build enough trust, and you'll earn new privileges! You can speak to her in any of South Africa’s eleven official languages. Wild Voices: Pangolin is an immersive experience powered by the Habitat Nature Parks Foundation. Created by Habitat XR in partnership with Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital, one of South Africa’s leading wildlife hospitals and a key responder in pangolin rescue and rehabilitation. The experience is free to download.
