## What is Wildmate?

Explore Hong Kong trails, follow a reference route and keep a record of your walk with Wildmate.

FIND A TRAIL
Browse a list or map and filter by area, difficulty, length and reference duration. View real photographs, distance, descriptions and reference elevation, then save your favourites. Difficulty and duration include calculations from distance, elevation change and a walking-pace model; they are not guarantees of conditions or your personal completion time.

MAPS AND CONTENT INCLUDED
Trail information, photos and a basemap covering specified Hong Kong areas come with the app. No separate map download is needed. Local resources are prepared on first use; confirm that your selected route loads before setting out. Coverage, zoom detail and content versions are limited, with updates provided through app versions.

FOLLOW AND RECORD
See your position against a selected reference route, receive off-route alerts and start, pause, resume or save a hike. You can also record without choosing a route. Voice prompts depend on installed device voices and route information; turn instructions are not available at every junction.

NO ACCOUNT NEEDED
Favourites, recordings and settings stay on your phone. This version has no sign-in, cloud backup or cross-device sync. Choose Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese or English.

Location, distance, elevation and duration are references. Check weather, closures and conditions before leaving. Background location can increase battery use; interruptions and weak signals can leave gaps in a recording. Wildmate does not offer automatic rerouting and cannot replace judgement on the trail or emergency services.

USAGE ANALYTICS AND DIAGNOSTICS
After you choose Allow, the app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to collect feature usage events, app/device information, installation identifiers and crash diagnostics to improve usability and stability. Custom events exclude precise location, raw tracks, search text and recording names. The app has no advertising or cross-app advertising tracking.
You can turn this off in Me → Privacy and data. Usage analytics stops when turned off; crash reporting is fully disabled on your next app launch.
