### 2/5 — Search

*2026-05-08, version 2.0.2*

Love the concept, and walk info is great once you find what you want, but can’t open walk info from map, very hard to filter by favourites, and hard to filter by area when map doesn’t specify which “area” a walk is in.

### 4/5 — GpX

*2022-07-20, version 2.0.2*

Is there a way to download gpx file from the app?

### 3/5 — Website is great! App is just OK.

*2022-04-30, version 2.0.2*

First let’s talk about the good stuff:

The hikes on this app are extremely well documented with fantastic info about each walk. Bravo to the team who put this together. I found WildWalks first through their website and started printing out their guides before every hike. It’s a huge amount of work putting together detailed guides like this. Truly amazing. Thank you. The app is a good resource if you want a pocket version of the site.

Now the bad stuff:

I was surprised to see that you can’t see your GPS location on the downloaded maps as you’re going on a hike. This seems like the main promise of a mobile maps app and not very difficult to implement on a technical level. It’s a weird omission.

If you’re at a trailhead with multiple trails coming off it it’s sometimes difficult to tell which guide you should download. This is important because the guides are large files and wilderness locations often have poor connectivity.

There also isn’t a tab for easy access to tracks that you’ve already downloaded. This means you have to scroll through long lists to find a walk every time. It doesn’t load well if you’re offline either.

All up, it’s a great service and I’m happy to have pitched in a few dollars for a truly helpful resource. I just wish the app was a bit better developed so it could be more helpful. I think this could be a very successful service with a bit more work.

### 4/5 — Useful !

*2022-01-02, version 2.0.2*

Very useful, can't complain for a free app.. must be lots of work to maintain it..

### 3/5 — Needs improvement

*2021-10-24, version 2.0.2*

The app is useable but it’s missing important features such as list of favourites walks and search button. Overall it’s an ok app

### 2/5 — Half baked but still usable

*2021-07-18, version 2.0.2*

It’s a usable app for maps of walks to keep you on the right trail. That it will do. But searching for particular trails is such a basic omission. And the user interface once in the maps is very limited. I will keep using it, but I don’t think it’s had an update for some time if at all, a shame, because the wild walks website is very informative.

### 4/5 — Wildwalks

*2020-09-03, version 2.0.1*

Very good but needs to link to Apple maps as well as google mals

### 2/5 — Useful app but needs more features

*2020-09-01, version 2.0.1*

This is an incredibly useful app and no other app is like it that I have seen. However it’s incredibly outdated and looks like it hasn’t been updated for years or like it hasn’t been finished.
The main issue for me is there’s no ‘favourites’ or ‘saved tracks’ options. Also being able to click done on a track would be incredibly useful so that you can see what you’ve explored and what you’ve yet to find.
Other than that it’s incredibly useful and would recommend to any fellow hikers :)

### 2/5 — So frustrating

*2020-08-20, version 2.0.1*

This could be a great app but it has so many failings.
You can’t search for a walk!
You can filter walks by various criteria but why on earth would you want to sort them by how near they are? Seriously, I’m not interested in finding the walk which is furthest away from where I am.
The rendering of the walk routes on the map is clumsy, showing them as thick red lines until you zoom in so close that you can’t see any neighbouring landmarks.
I have the subscription version but I am unsubscribing. What a shame. I’ll be carrying a guide book in future.

### 3/5 — Room for improvement

*2019-10-09, version 2.0.1*

The app is great in terms of the content it delivers but seriously needs search and sorting functionality.

### 4/5 — Great but not perfect

*2019-08-17, version 2.0.1*

It’s really great what you can find & get off this app. Been a huge help to me as a novice to get my girls out & enjoying the scrub.
A few tweaks like searching by name & saving walk would be great but all in all I’m really happy with it.
Unfortunately we are moving north to Qld soon I’ll have to wait until your maps reach further afield to keep enjoying it.
Thanks a heap.

### 3/5 — Helpful but limited features

*2018-11-13, version 2.0.1*

I found this app useful for the extensive list of walks it offers however it lacks many useful features such as saving walks, live tracking and recording of how far you have walked, sorting the list by national park and others. I understand these apps want to make money, but offering 30min use of a walk before it is automatically deleted, come off it...

### 3/5 — Love this app but room for improvement

*2018-09-27, version 2.0.1*

This is a great app — I’ve used the Wild Walks website for years, but having your map on your phone, with GPS included is great.

My only criticism is that there is no “My Walks” or “Saved Walks” feature. To the best of my fiddling, it seems like every time you close the app, you have to search for your saved walks by narrowing down the filters. Not a deal breaker, but would be great if it were easier to access already-downloaded maps.

### 4/5 — Needs options to add extra walks

*2017-08-09, version 2.0.1*

But a very precise details for the walks already installed.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2017-07-26, version 2.0.1*

Was hoping there would be walks in areas I go to regularly but there wasn't.

### 3/5 — Walking in Australia enthusiast

*2017-07-15, version 2.0.1*

This app works well but it is disappointing the walks are isolated to sydney region and snowy mountains. There are many good walks in the ACT and Shoalhaven regions. As well as everywhere else in Australia. Please put up walks in more locations. Happy to work on creating walks with the app engineer's.

### 3/5 — Newbie

*2017-04-20, version 2.0.1*

Lots a potential for a great app... disappointed the walks are mostly in one area.

### 3/5 — Good app but...

*2017-01-15, version 2.0*

New one keeps crashing every time you try and look at the subscription options.

### 4/5 — Excellent walk planning tool

*2016-09-13, version 1.2.0*

Excellent tool for planning a walk. I've even paid for some walks even though I know they are free via pdf on the website- the app format is very useful.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2024-03-31, version 2.0.2*

Unable to open this app
After downloading on iOS - just keeps crashing.

### 1/5 — No updates for 1yr? Can’t open the app

*2022-02-16, version 2.0.2*

Tried to update and it won’t update. Deleted the app and now I can’t re download it.

### 1/5 — App not working

*2020-10-04, version 2.0.1*

App not working over long weekend. What a shame. It doesn’t provide any suggestions in any area or NP I chose. Subscription definitely not expired. I do not recommend this app.

### 1/5 — So much potential. Please fix!

*2020-09-15, version 2.0.1*

For an annual subscription, this app is very buggy. Great concept and excellent information bogged down by an awful app. Can't search, frequently when you find a real the link from mail doesn't work.... So many bugs but the basis idea is great. Please please get some help to bring this up to a working app.

### 1/5 — Crashing App

*2020-09-03, version 2.0.1*

Normally I’d give a 5* rating however Updated to iOS 13.7 and app fails all the time, need to fix it. Also need to have a search facility/option and a saved/favourite walks

### 1/5 — Used to love it, but now I can’t restore purchase

*2019-04-24, version 2.0.1*

Don’t know what happened here. We have a family account, with annual membership until september. Try to restore purchase, but the red circle thing just rotates and rotates, but nothing happens.

Need to fix this now.

### 1/5 — No South coast?

*2019-03-30, version 2.0.1*

Crazy this app has no trails for the south coast.

### 1/5 — Never Again On My iPhone

*2017-01-23, version 1.2.0*

New version says it needs IOS 10.

So it won't work on my iPhone 4S!

### 1/5 — Incorrect prices

*2016-11-20, version 1.2.0*

This is a nice app, but why do you try to charge me $2.99 for a walk priced $1.99??? I've bought a LOT of apps, but I've never seen this before!

### 1/5 — Exceptionally...poor

*2016-01-01, version 1.2.0*

Who in their right mind would use this app which requires us to pay to access all the information....when we can just use the Wild Walks website which is completely free?! Development team clearly was more interested in their bottom line, than the product they produced.

Requesting permission to access locational data all the time is also absurd. Virtually no app needs to have access beyond when you're using the app, and should not force you to choose between either always on, or always off.

Even little details like how the resolution of the app is so low, and clearly not tailored to newer phones, shows the inferior standard of the development of this app.

Failure of an app.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Amazing! A huge gift to all who love nature

*2022-04-20, version 2.0.2*

Find nature walks presented on a clear map, see photos of key points on the walks, check National Parks warnings for the trail you choose before you head out, download the map to your phone so it’s all there when phone coverage lets you down. It’s all in one app. It’s brilliant. If I could give this six stars, I would. I’ve paid the annual fee to support the developer and unlock some handy features.

Apps like this are a labour of love. Thanks to the developer for doing this project and all the people who’ve chipped in a few dollars to help pay for it.

I have no connection to the developer, but I am someone who has connected with nature far more thanks to Wild Walks over several years. 🙏🍃

### 5/5 — Great app for a serious hiker

*2019-04-21, version 2.0.1*

I’ve been using the app for a few years now and love it. Recently did the three day 6 Foot Track, relying just on the app. The Track notes and photos are really detailed and helped a LOT every time I was unsure about which fork to take. Thanks!!

### 5/5 — Wonderful

*2016-02-28, version 1.2.0*

Great list of walks. Explains the walks thoroughly and very easy to navigate. Use the app all the time. The new features and layout to the app are excellent.

### 5/5 — Essential for exploring the Sydney region

*2015-12-05, version 1.2.0*

I hope they continue to add to the app and the trail database. I've found lots of fantastic weekend bush walks with Wildwalks.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2015-10-14, version 1.2.0*

Great app, got me to explore the areas around me! Love that you can filter by transport too.
Looking forward to a version for the bigger iPhone 6+ screen!

### 5/5 — A saviour, thank you!

*2015-08-15, version 1.2.0*

Thank you for developing this app, it is very handy to have! Hope you continue to maintain this app and add additional features.

### 5/5 — Excellent App

*2014-03-25, version 1.2.0*

A must have app for anyone going for a hike or trail run. Complete with distance markers, pics, side trails, this is the real deal.

App support is excellent too.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2014-03-02, version 1.2.0*

Awesome app. Accurate description of the walks, up to date pictures and information. Recommend to anyone who wants to avoid a map.

### 5/5 — A remarkably useful app

*2014-01-11, version 1.1*

How wonderful to have all the track notes (reversible), pictures along the way and a gps-synchronized map of bush walks. It saves buying the maps as well as ensures you are on the right track almost step by step.

I have found this to be extremely useful and a must have if you don't know the area well.

Have also found some great new walks.

Thank you developers.

### 5/5 — Better

*2013-07-30, version 1.1*

I can see on map how far walk or other
