Wiltshire Connect is your new on-demand bus service for Wiltshire – Simply book your ride with the Wiltshire Connect App! 

Unlike a conventional bus service, our Wiltshire Connect vehicles operate on a flexible, on-demand basis, allowing you to travel between any designated pick up and drop off point within each zone. Our smart technology will match up your journey with any other passengers travelling in the same direction. 

Wiltshire Connect is available for anyone to use. It is designed to improve public transport in the Pewsey Vale and Marlborough area of Wiltshire and increase access to employment, education, healthcare, shopping and leisure opportunities.  

Our modern, accessible, air-conditioned vehicles are available to book between 6am-8pm Monday-Friday and 7am-7pm on Saturdays, and rides can be booked up to seven days ahead and with as little as 30 minutes’ notice on the day, subject to availability.

Have now used the service twice and find it a real game changer. Very helpful drivers, timely service, bookable up to a week ahead, great app. A superb Wiltshire solution to the difficult problem of providing service between remote villages and small town hubs.

Starting with the positives - it’s a bus, it gets you from A to B. Most of the time. As for the negatives i’ve found this app difficult to use and as other reviews suggest the system for booking an on demand bus is trying, often a bus is not available and so you have to go through the whole process again. What i find most irritating about this service though is the amount of times it’s failed to show up or been very late, that’s both for timetabled stops and on demand buses i’ve managed to book in the past. Today i had a bus booked , a confirmed text that it would arrive to pick me up 11:01, then after showing up, waiting and realising i’d now be missing the connecting bus i had to catch from Devizes. I rung in just to be told actually my driver had been waiting at 10:50 to pick me up and i wasn’t there so essentially it was my fault and there was nothing they could do. Not fair in my opinion as both the app and the confirmation text stated my driver would arrive at 11:01. It was put down to an IT issue. Maybe it wouldn’t be such an issue if there was another bus i could get but there isn’t, there are 2hr gaps in the timetable between scheduled stops and when your booked bus doesn’t even show up you cannot rely on this service. I have spoken to at least 10 other people who regularly use the service who feel the same way as me that the bus service is not fit for purpose, unreliable, and often feels unsafe as drivers are particularly fast on winding wiltshire roads. I wish the bus service had stayed with Salisbury Reds bus company because at least then you could rely on it.

The idea of booking your bus is great and does seem to work on the whole … however the app can be incredibly frustrating to use. You have to first select the time you go, then where you go from and finally the destination. It will then search for available rides. So far so good. However quite often it will tell you that there is no ride available, so rather than offering possible alternatives, you have to go through the whole process again … sometimes up to the point where you just give up. Just give me a list of options to choose from if the first selection doesn’t work …

…to use the buses, but the app is trying on the nerves. When it eventually suggests a bus the booking is straightforward. But the constant search for a time without alternative times suggested is infuriating. The bus journey itself is fantastic and drivers so friendly.

App works well but needs a simpler/more intuitive interface to add multiple passengers to same booking.
More use of the GPS tracking facility so that it can pick passengers up on the route. For example we walked to the nearest bus stop (10mins) only to find the bus drive past the bottom of our road after it had picked us up! This would have saved 7mins walking time
