## What is Wind God?

Your spot doesn't exist in any weather model. So we build it.

Global weather models compute grid cells of 2 kilometers and more, your home spot is literally invisible in them: no lake, no shoreline, no venturi effect, no thermal edge. Yet that's exactly where your wind is born. Aeolus closes this gap with an approach that until now existed only in research.

WHAT YOU GET

• 17 spots across six countries:
Bavaria: Kochelsee, Walchensee, Ammersee, Starnberger See, Chiemsee, Alpsee, Forggensee
   Lake Constance: Friedrichshafen, Konstanz, Güttingen
Italy: Lago di Garda, Lake Como (North), Reschensee
Worldwide: El Gouna (Egypt), Tarifa (Spain), Cape Town (Blouberg, False Bay)
New spots start out "in testing" and go live once they pass our checks. The library keeps growing.
• Kiteable probability for every hour, including your personal threshold (foil? big kite? set your limit).
• Wind alerts that are truly yours: set them per spot, wind direction, strength, minimum duration, and how confident the forecast has to be.
• Wind windows in your calendar: subscribe your favourites and the events add themselves and keep themselves up to date.
• Tell us how it went: one rating per spot and day, wind speed and direction hour by hour. That's how we see where we were off.
• Regime intelligence: foehn and thermals are different physics, our models treat them that way.
• Instant updates with every weather-model run, precomputed, the answer arrives immediately.
• Tidy by default: one number, one curve, done. Want more? Switch on expert mode for the dials and the probability curve.

Aeolus is not another weather widget. It's a research program growing into your pocket, built by simulation specialists, tested in the field, computed with the physics of your spot.

THE AEOLUS PROGRAM: A DIGITAL TWIN FOR EVERY SPOT

Every spot gets a complete digital twin: real topography on a 50-meter grid, terrain roughness, water surfaces with their temperature, the energy balance of every single slope. On top of that, a 3D multiphysics flow simulation (CFD + turbulence modeling) computes the wind field physically: moist air, solar radiation, thermals, foehn, lake breeze, alpine lake, foehn corridor or coastal lagoon, every spot's physics under the same laws of nature.

The first chapter is a showpiece in the Bavarian Alpine foothills: Kochelsee and Walchensee, two lakes, 200 meters of elevation apart, a mountain ridge in between, in a single simulation domain. One model, both spots, including their interaction: whether foehn- or thermally driven, both run in the same computation. The physics is fascinating. But what matters to you is: is the drive to the lake worth it?

THE NEURAL SURROGATE

The full simulation costs hundreds to thousands of CPU hours per spot. That's why the heart of the program is a 3D neural surrogate model: a neural network trained on very many complete 3D simulations per spot. It doesn't memorize weather statistics, it learns to solve the physics itself: the result of the simulation in seconds on a single GPU, a speedup factor of 10,000 to 100,000. The same technology class NVIDIA's FourCastNet used to accelerate global weather forecasting from supercomputer hours to GPU seconds, except FourCastNet computes the globe at 25 kilometers. Aeolus brings this class to your spot: 50 meters. And because the training data comes from our own simulation, a new spot doesn't need ten years of measurement history, just geodata. 100,000× faster than the physics it learns from. Physics accuracy, app speed, scaling by blueprint.

The wind has always been there. Now you can see it coming.

### 5/5 — Finally I know when its worth it to drive to a spot for hours

*2026-08-16*

I tested it for Reschensee, Walchensee and even had a kochelsee headlightsession 😎🫣
Must be a hell of computing going in there
Thank you!🙏

### 5/5 — Always knowing where to go to catch the wind

*2026-07-29*

It makes session easier! I often have to test kitesurfing prototypes from allyoucankite.etsy.com, and thanks to this app, I always know where there’s wind without having to check the wind forecast a thousand times

### 5/5 — The App we've been waiting for.

*2026-07-24*

Finally – an app for local lakes and weather phenomena, giving you the insights you need to maximize your chances of an amazing session.

## Frequently asked questions about Wind God

### What is Wind God Aeolus?

Wind God Aeolus is a weather application that provides hyper-localized wind forecasts by creating digital twins of specific spots. It uses advanced simulation techniques to predict wind conditions with high accuracy for water sports enthusiasts.

### What kind of spots does Wind God Aeolus cover?

The app currently covers spots like Reschensee, Walchensee, Ammersee, Kochelsee, Gardasee, and El Gouna, with more being added. It focuses on detailed analysis of local topography and water conditions to improve forecast accuracy.

### How does Wind God Aeolus differ from other weather apps?

Unlike standard weather widgets, Wind God Aeolus builds a complete digital twin for each location, incorporating real topography, water temperature, and complex atmospheric physics. This allows for much more precise wind predictions tailored to specific spots.

### When will Wind God Aeolus become a paid app?

Wind God Aeolus is currently free to use. It is expected to become a paid application after 2026 to cover computing costs and ongoing development of new spots.

### What are the system requirements for Wind God Aeolus?

### Does Wind God Aeolus have ads?

No, Wind God Aeolus does not contain advertisements. The app is committed to providing an ad-free experience for its users.

### How often is Wind God Aeolus updated?

The app receives lightning-fast updates with every weather model run, ensuring that the forecast data is as current as possible. The latest version is 1.3.1, released on July 27, 2026.

### Can I set custom wind alarms in Wind God Aeolus?

Yes, you can set personalized wind alarms for each spot. These alarms can be configured based on wind direction, strength, minimum duration, and the required probability of the wind occurring.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.5 — 2026-08-17

New: the hit rate. Every spot now shows how many kite days Aeolus finds on average and how that compares with a usual weather model. New spot: Lake Como (North).

### 1.4.1 — 2026-08-10

New home screen with map: "Best chance" and "Nearby", every pin shows the expected wind. The toggle is now called Outlook, and the outlook is marked as an early tendency. Alarms report only the next few days by default and arrive silently; you can add the longer outlook in Settings. Lists scroll more smoothly. Fixed: a spot could keep sending alerts after being removed from favorites, and failed updates went unnoticed.

### 1.4 — 2026-08-02

The spot card now leads with the expected wind. The percentage next to it tells you how likely it reaches your personal limit, and the footer spells that limit out.

The best hour is picked at your limit. Big number, percentage and window text finally agree, and lowering your limit finds a window again.

Better gusts: at most spots they now come from a gust model we built ourselves.

The wind timeline is new: one line for the expected wind, a two-step band for the likely range, dashed for gusts. In the outlook, wind and gusts are dimmed together so the trend never looks more certain than it is.

The spot menu is tidier, all dials now live in expert mode. The bell in the spot header turns alerts on directly.

Also new: a six-day outlook at the tap of a button, weekdays in the hourly table, country flags next to spot names, and gusts shown in full in every unit.

### 1.3.1 — 2026-07-27

Small hint in Settings: if you subscribe to the wind calendar without any favorite spots, Aeolus now tells you the calendar stays empty until you star your first spot.

### 1.3 — 2026-07-26
