### 2/5 — Seems to have a lot kinks that need worked out

*2026-08-21, version 1.26*

I can be standing in front of the unit while it’s on, and the app says it’s off. I can change the setting from eco to cool, but it won’t change. And why does the unit turn itself down? I set it at 75° in the AM but when I get home it’s on 70°. I’m glad I didn’t buy it because the unit sucks

### 2/5 — Ok, limited functionality and unreliable syncing

*2026-08-20, version 1.26*

The design of the products are good and the UI of the app is ok- relatively simple. However I cannot think of a good technical reason why they cannot support Siri/Google/Alexa support. I would like to control via voice or home automations because I can use more complex home conditions when configuring automations there.

The Windmill app automations are very rudimentary, as they do not support checking multiple conditions or rechecking conditions after a timer. The major problem is the temperature sensors in the AC units are very inaccurate and only improve in accuracy when the unit is running having air flow through it. Please add Homekit/Google Home integration and more complex automation capabilities!

I also had issues where the AC units would stop syncing their temperature readings with the app so the automations would not properly trigger. I had to fully delete the units from the app multiple times to get them to sync again and I worry it will keep happening. Please fix this bug!

### 3/5 — can’t see room temp

*2026-08-18, version 1.26*

The app is OK. Pretty basic. I’m having trouble seeing the room temp for each of my units. Everything was working fine. Then one day room temp is zero. Also it looks like the app shows my units as being turned on when I turned it off. I’ve deleted the app and reloaded it, and it doesn’t seem to do anything. No tech-support for this on the website. I need to do more digging or reach out to someone to email me back. This is annoying. The units themselves are awesome. I really like them. It’s just the app that I’m having problems with.

### 2/5 — Eh.

*2026-08-10, version 1.26*

Nice to have an app to control since it’s always at my finger tips. But PLEASE move the POWER button away from the temp setting keys? I try to lower the temp and turn off the unit. Also, make it so NIGHT MODE can be turned on and STAY on? I shouldn’t have to set it every time I turn on the unit.

### 2/5 — Window Air Conditioner

*2026-06-30, version 1.26*

Too loud

### 1/5 — Good AC, bad app

*2026-06-29, version 1.26*

The AC itself is nice but the app is terrible. Super unreliable and jank. Often just stops connecting to the AC making me need to set it up again from scratch. And now in some recent update metric units don’t work anymore, forcing me to use Fahrenheit

### 1/5 — AC not cooling and working very loud

*2026-06-29, version 1.26*

I purchased the Windmill 6,000 BTU 115-Volts Quiet AC 2 weeks ago and it has been nothing but a headache. It is not cooling properly and working loudly. There is no physical guide on the different modes and settings- which is very frustrating.

### 1/5 — Reconfiguring

*2026-06-24, version 1.26*

Keeps disconnecting

### 1/5 — Change from F to C

*2026-06-18, version 1.26*

I am struggling to switch back from F to C. For more context I did set up my ac nicely in C and then randomly in the middle of the night it changed back from C to F. I have changed it back in the app and I can see that I have selected “metric” however on the main menu it still uses F. This is annoying

### 1/5 — Defective Ac

*2026-06-12, version 1.26*

Rattles and is really loud am waiting to hear back from support

### 1/5 — Personal info

*2026-06-11, version 1.26*

Why the hell this ac control app collects so much personal info? Why sign up even mandatory!? Something is fishy here…

### 2/5 — App needs an update

*2026-06-09, version 1.26*

App doesn’t control the unit well. It generally turns it off and on, but settings selected on app aren’t applied to the unit itself which kinda defeats the purpose.

### 1/5 — AVOID AND REFUND ASAP

*2026-05-28, version 1.26*

Don’t install it will stop working after 1-2 years beeps and can not be fixed RETURN ASAP

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Automations aren’t reliable

*2026-09-03, version 1.26*

It’s been a while now and I’ve noticed that sometimes my automations just don’t work. Ive reconnected and it still happens. Very frustrating as this is the sole reason I got this AC. Otherwise it is a good model.

### 1/5 — It was great for the first 2 years

*2026-08-14, version 1.26*

It makes me sad to write this because I really did love this unit when I got it. I’m in my 3rd summer now and unit is inconsistent, the thermostat no longer works so I have to keep it on the lowest setting to work. The remote option does work on the app (kind of) but it doesn’t not show the accurate temp of the unit or the room. It was fun while it lasted. I had hoped to get more mileage on it.

### 1/5 — Buyer beware

*2026-08-12, version 1.26*

Unit is great until it breaks 2 years into it! Customer service does nothing. Save your money and still to the tried and true models!!

### 1/5 — It still hot

*2026-08-05, version 1.26*

It not getting cold

### 1/5 — Broken out of box

*2026-07-28, version 1.26*

Installed brand new unit, never worked or turned on

### 1/5 — Thermostat issue

*2026-07-28, version 1.26*

App is no longer displaying accurate temperature in the room. It is stuck at 71 regardless of what the real temp is. Unable to tell if app is controlling AC unit.

### 1/5 — Terrible service

*2026-07-25, version 1.26*

Bought two air purifier units. Took an hour for the first one to even turn on. The second doesn’t work. Their customer service is terrible. I am an hour 45 minutes into troubleshooting with their bots

### 1/5 — If yours starts beeping

*2026-07-11, version 1.26*

There is a fix that the company has and they won’t release it. They told me this and because I’m out of my 1 year manufacturers warranty they won’t allow it to be fixed. This is a pure software issue with unresponsive buttons and the settings going erratically. So my air conditioner works but because of their software I have 2 giant bricks.

### 1/5 — No support for VoiceOver for Blind users (???)

*2026-07-02, version 1.26*

This really sucks, Blind and other print-disabled users who use VoiceOver for access. It’s a perfectly nice fan, but this is an app review, and how lousy is it that we can give a company our money and they can’t bother to include basic accessibility support. I wasn’t even able to submit my email address to open an account which seems to be necessary to use the app, so I don’t know how the access would be after that, but even if that’s their plan - that we have to find a sighted person to even sign up?? Like I said, nice fan but I didn’t get a disccount for not being able to use the smart features.

### 1/5 — Dumb “Smart” Device

*2026-07-01, version 1.26*

Cant disable network broadcasting pairing signal unless you connect the AC to your home WIFI and phone…even if you dont want to use the app it will permanently broadcast for pairing. Spoke with customer service, there’s no way to turn it off. Totally dumb smart device.

Caved in and finally connected it to my phone and router but challenges persist. Frustrating app experience, very buggy and privacy invasive. Would return the unit if didnt already go thru the hastle of installing into window.

The AC unit itself works just alright otherwise, decent for a 12x12 room.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Phenomenal service

*2026-09-03, version 1.26*

I’ve had my 3 windmill ACs for a full year now. I just had a recent issue with one of them and emailed customer service. They were incredibly responsive, typically emailing me back within 5-15 minutes. They solved the issue I was having quickly and were so kind through the process!

### 5/5 — It’s for real.

*2026-08-30, version 1.26*

Just installed the 8k unit and it is cooling the bedroom nicely in the heat of the day; Georgetown, Texas, in a 1940 bungalow with no insulation and it’s 104 degrees. A brisk 72 inside. Sweet!

### 5/5 — Breeze to use

*2026-07-20, version 1.26*

Connected all 3 my devices in a snap. So easy to setup and use! Great app with great features!

### 5/5 — Windmill 6000 btu

*2026-06-30, version 1.26*

Solid unit. Quick install and great cooling performance. 5 star product

### 5/5 — New ac

*2026-06-15, version 1.26*

It's good so far takes a while to get cool for a 15x10 room I got a 6k btu but I need 10k and up. Not sufficient enough to keep room cold.. wish I bought something else with more btu and less noisy

### 5/5 — Fantástico

*2026-06-07, version 1.26*

Excelente abanico lo recomiendo

### 5/5 — Love it so far BUT

*2026-06-07, version 1.26*

Tech things it could benefit from adding:
-easy to set up iOS widget connection (something I don’t have to dig through the forums to find) so I can reap the benefits of controlling the ac unit from my phone when needed
-all tutorial videos should live in the Windmill app; why am I being redirected to a random unresponsive authentication page on a mobile browser to view a 30 second video on how to install the air filter?! That’s insanely tedious.
-speaking of video tutorials: The manual was great, almost no complaints and we appreciated the page layouts, but if you’re going to go that in detail with graphics in a booklet then maybe put in the extra investment to produce a video version to get a quicker understanding of how to install the unit. The details can be referenced in the manual, but the video tutorial will help users get the gist of it much faster (for everyone’s sanity!)— thank you for this beautifully designed unit.

### 5/5 — Best AC I’ve got so far

*2026-05-17, version 1.26*

Very quiet, easy to use and I like the app on my iPhone. Works great!

### 5/5 — Windmill whispertech AC unit

*2026-05-12, version 1.26*

The windmill whispertech AC unit has been better than expected. Crazy simple installation. Looks aesthetically pleasing as advertised. The biggest and best thing about this window AC is that it blows the cold air upwards at a slight angle. Hot air raises and cold air sinks which means this unit does a wonderful job cooling my bedroom. My previous unit was a different brand that I kept running continuously at 62 degrees on high as it blew the cold air straight out and past my bed. Set at 62 degrees the previous AC unit would only cool the area of my bed in the upper 60’s to low 70’s. The Windmill unit I set at 65 degrees on low, sometimes medium an my entire bedroom is constantly nice and cool. Everything great so far. All I need next is time to see if this unit is built to last.

### 5/5 — Quieter then my LG

*2026-05-11, version 1.26*

Clean and sexy, I’m really enjoying the look and sound of my new AC.
