## What is Windrose?

See exactly where the rain is, and know before the first drop. Windrose is a live animated weather radar with a plain-language rain countdown for your exact spot - "rain in about 25 minutes, lasting around half an hour" - free for everyone.

Then go further. With Windrose Pro you scrub the radar past the present into a 3-hour rain forecast, watch weather systems turn on a full interactive pressure map, and switch the whole app into purpose-built Marine and Aviation modes.

Rain alerts you can trust.

We rebuilt the rule that decides when Windrose is allowed to tell you it is going to rain. An alert now only fires for rain that is close enough to time accurately and heavy enough to be worth an umbrella - which means roughly two-thirds fewer alerts than before, and the ones that arrive mean something.

The 7-day forecast no longer hides. A day that shows a thunderstorm or drizzle icon now always shows its rain chance beside it, so you can tell a storm you will feel from one you will not.

We also gave some of the free tier back. Free returns to a 7-day forecast, and you can save two places again instead of one - alongside your current location, as always.

Everything else in free is unchanged: the live radar loop, the rain countdown for your spot, current conditions, the next 12 hours, widgets and the rain Live Activity. Every official severe-weather warning stays free for everyone. That will not change.

Windrose Pro still covers the forecast side: the rain forecast on the radar, the full 6-hour rain timeline, satellite cloud layers, the 16-day forecast, 48 hours of hourly detail, the pressure map, Marine and Aviation modes - and no ads.

The free tier is now ad-supported - a single banner on the weather screen, never on the radar, and an optional video you can choose to watch for a day of extra features. Windrose Pro removes every ad.

Free keeps what it has always been for: the live radar loop, the rain countdown for your spot, current conditions, a 3-day forecast, widgets and the rain Live Activity. Every official severe-weather warning stays free for everyone. That will not change.

Also in this release:
- Every Pro lock now tells you exactly what it unlocks, and opens on the feature you were reaching for
- Yearly's free trial is stated correctly everywhere (Monthly has no trial)
- Fixed a paywall that could get stuck loading, and cancelling a purchase no longer looks like an error

- New: typhoon & hurricane arrival forecasts — see the exact date and time a tracked storm is forecast to come closest to you, when its track reaches land, and when rain is expected to arrive, on the Weather and Pressure tabs and the storm map.
- Official weather warnings now show clear, at-a-glance hazard badges — typhoon, rainstorm, thunderstorm, wind, snow, heat and more.
- Radar reliability: precipitation now reliably re-loads after a fast, wide pan or zoom.
- Pressure Map reliability: fixed the map disappearing when zoomed far out, and smoothed the pressure lines near the International Date Line.
- Plus polish and stability improvements throughout.

A calmer Live Activity: the Dynamic Island now shows a quiet weather symbol and only reveals the live rain countdown in the final minutes before rain starts or eases — so it takes up much less of your screen. Thanks to everyone who sent feedback.
