I bought this partially because it shows indoor and outdoor AQI even on days where wildfires are filling the area with smoke and the AQI in my weather app shows bad, the app for Winix shows good. Same with indoor AQI. I also cannot select my city and have to select a major city about 15 miles away from me. Why is it too much to ask for my city to be listed. SWITCHING TO LEVOIT ### 2/5 — Fan of the purifiers but not the software interface *2026-07-29, version 1.5.10* I’ve been a long time user of Winix products and feel they do a good job of actually scrubbing the air and appreciate the function of turning on and off ionization. But the app and overall software CX is subpar for 2026. You can’t even customize the name of the devices except for selecting the preset room titles, which are limited. You also cannot reset the filter life from the app, you have to physically press the tiny reset button with a pin. These should be features on the app and I can’t believe they are not. The app feels like it was developed 10-15 years ago and hasn’t had a major update since. The air quality data doesn’t show good historical data. The only good thing about the app is being able to turn on/off the devices via mobile app. ### 1/5 — App frequently doesn’t let me log in *2026-07-28, version 1.5.10* The air purifiers work well but the app is very frustrating. You can either use the buttons on the machine or use the app. The app always reverts back to main display rather than staying on the “remote control” page in the app. All buttons on the remote page could easily be placed on the page without a need to scroll, but you’ll need to scroll. My frustration comes from connecting the WiFi. The first time you connect it isn’t to hard, but if you get disconnect, change your password or move, it’s not very user intuitive to reconnect. You have to literally removed the device reset and add it back on as a new device. Furthermore the air quality settings are very delayed and hardly ever update. I could be cooking a steak on a cast iron with the windows closed, kitchen filled with smoke, and the filter will still say the air quality is good… Plasmawave is supposed to help remove odors but doesn’t really help. ### 1/5 — Won’t connect? *2026-07-19, version 1.5.9* I Follow the instructions, connect to the device through the wifi settings and the app won’t update for the next step after you are connected. The device is utterly unstable as well as the app. A bunch of uneducated, inexperienced people developed this app indeed. Even with updates the app and the hardware is indeed NOT reliable. You need to manually re-connect the device to wifi each time even without plugging it off from the outlet to use the app. What a pathetic device and app..!! So I bought two of them. One for my bedroom, and one for the rest of the house. Not only do they move a ton of air, they do it quietly and offer legitimate HEPA air purification. They have done an amazing job of keeping the smoke out of the house from the fires in the Western United States and Canada. I highly recommend these devices, as well as this app that is so simple to use. It isn’t even funny. It tells you the outside air quality, and if there’s any issues with the air quality inside the house, you were immediately notified so you can increase your fan speed.
