I finally figured out that’s because the files are compressed to less than 10% of the original. 24 megapixel pics are saved at about 1.7 megapixels! It works as expected. It's not some super polished app but files can easily be transferred to my phone over wifi. I suspect it's just novice users not understanding how this app works. You must turn wifi on, on the camera. And then you must connect your phone to that wifi. That's not ideal but that's how it works.
