WIS Emergency is a free emergency call app system developed specifically for deaf and deafblind people. It enables users to send emergency calls with detailed information and documentation to emergency services and a sign language interpreter center.
In an emergency, users can activate the app to send an emergency call including the 5 W-questions (Who, Where, When, How many people, What happened), photo/sound documentation, and an emergency profile. It also provides precise localization.
You can send emergency calls to the WIS Sign Language Interpreter-Center, as well as to the police, fire department, or rescue services in German-speaking countries and abroad to responsible embassies or consulates.
Currently, the Sign Language Interpreter-Headquarters is available Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00 during the test phase. Support for a 24/7 service is not yet available.
WIS Emergency is initially available in English, French, and German language versions, with more languages planned to follow.
