## What is Wisdom Journal?

InstaReflect is a wisdom journaling app — a style of journaling where you start off with a question or a thought to reflect upon, and then gradually explore and deepen your line of thinking by delving deeper into your psyche. You don’t just get to know yourself better, you also gain a lot of wisdom in the process.

Under the hood, you’re paired with a famous persona who nudges you to discover newer insights about yourself. You might be paired with the Dalai Lama, Adam Grant, Brené Brown, or Friedrich Nietzsche. Discussions range from simple topics such as hobbies, relationships, friendships, adulting to heavy ones such as existentialism, life’s purpose, human suffering, and many many more.

While InstaReflect doesn’t have a ton of fancy features (at least not yet), its simplicity and elegance are what set it apart. I’d love to work closely with you to make InstaReflect a fantastic journaling and self-reflection tool. So why not give it a whirl? Download it now and take it for a spin. If you enjoy using it and have ideas to make it better, let’s chat. Drop me a note at abhishek@coffeeandjunk.com.

Until then, happy reflecting!

P.S. Regarding privacy, I care about it as much as you. InstaReflect neither requires nor collects any personally-identifying information. There’s no signup required. Your data stays on your device and on your iCloud. Whenever you send a message, the app connects to the server to record an action and fetch a reply. But that isn’t used to track you in any form whatsoever.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2024.2.5 — 2024-07-14

No longer a teeny-tiny input box. Introducing a jumbo text area for you to have tons of space to write your response. Pour your heart out. Seriously!

### 2024.2.4 — 2024-06-12

Instead of being a snob and throwing you a curveball to reflect upon every time you fire up the app, InstaReflect is now more polite and asks if you have something in mind that you’d like to talk about. You can talk literally about anything and everything. Start with something like: “I struggle with managing my time effectively,” or, “I want to improve my relationships with my family and friends,” or, “I often feel overwhelmed by my emotions,” or, my personal favorite, “I like starting new projects, but somehow I leave them midway. Is that a bad thing?”

### 2024.2.3 — 2024-05-28

Massive improvements in the quality of conversations! They now focus more on personal experiences — things you might have written (or, would want to write) in a diary. Several empathetic psychologist personas have been added under the hood. In my experience, this is by far the best way to get to know yourself. Happy reflecting!

### 2024.2.2 — 2024-05-17

I’ve dialed up the quality of the questions in the conversations, adding more ice-cream to your interactions. Bugs have been squashed like never before, making this app smoother than a jazz sax solo. Under the hood, you’re paired with a famous persona whenever you start a conversation. See if you can guess who they are while conversing with them.

### 2024.2.1 — 2024-04-23

Ever been caught off guard by a thought-provoking question — itching to dive into the conversation but struggling to find the right words? Well, that’s exactly what quick replies such as “Help me answer” or “Elaborate this” are for. Whenever a question stumps you, but you also find it interesting, select one of the quick replies and get some much needed nudge to give words to your thoughts.
