A reboot reorients the symbol, but only temporarily. ### 4/5 — Insgesamt gute App mit vielen Funktionen und schöner Handhabung *2025-06-14* Gibt viele Apps, aber ich habe diese App sehr gerne genutzt, da sie wie ein Papierreiseführer funktioniert und gelesen werden kann und viele Infos enthält. Der Weg ist super gekennzeichnet in der App, Infos zu Herbergen und Essensmöglichkeiten sind enthalten und Herbergen können per Klick über WhatsApp kontaktiert werden, was super praktisch ist. Teilweise fehlen ein paar Herbergen, das Höhenprofil zeigt nicht den exakten Standort an und die App muss manchmal neu gestartet werden, damit der aktuelle Standort aktualisiert wird. Dennoch sehr hilfreich und übersichtlich, bringt Spaß bei der Planung. ### 4/5 — Very helpful! *2025-05-13* I used this app to do the Norte and found it to be extremely helpful. Download the offline maps so you can navigate with your data off. It was mostly accurate and got us out of some jams. The alternate routes on the coast are often great and worth it if you have time. The elevation profile was also helpful. There are reviews of alburgues as well and you can book some places through booking.com through the app. I just thought that sometimes the main route was actually marked red instead of blue which got confusing (that’s the main reason for taking a star off). There is little description of the alternates sometimes which would be helpful. Please add them in! Many alternates are not available on other apps but were worth doing. Die App ist übersichtlich und sehr einfach zu bedienen. Zudem gibt es regelmäßig Updates mit Verbesserungen. Ich bin Begeistert und kann diese nur empfehlen. ### 5/5 — The APP for the Camino *2019-03-03* I bought not only the app but also the guides and have had no problems with either. The app has never crashed. The extensive and I do mean extensive information is a god send. I cannot judge if every single piece of information is accurate however I have made extensive use of the app and the books and not had any problems. For the very cheap price of the app I would highly recommend anyone wanting to do any of the Camino walks to buy the whole kit. I think it may be the best on the market today. Lots of Germans (lots doing the Camino it appears) seem to have there guide books and few this app, but I think it’s great. I rarely add reviews for anything but this is totally worth it. ### 4/5 — Great app but shame about elevation profile *2018-01-15* For anyone walking the Camino this is a great app which saves the extra weight of a paper guide Only one thing I regret is the disappearance from the elevation profile of icons which showed what is available in each town (alberge, café, restaurant etc). Das Karten Paket wurde zwar installiert. Es stürzt aber trotzdem immer wieder ab. Die anderen Funktionen gehen. Soweit aber. I am currently using a book for the information I require and the app "map out", which works on GPS location. Very disappointing ### 1/5 — Lot of Potential, Unrealized *2017-06-13* It's only $2 but not worth it. Map does not work offline. Need internet connection. Map is practically unusable with the annoying icons covering everything. Can't customize what you want to see. Map moves to some central location every time you access and then have to hunt around for your current location. Should have the ability to go straight to current location. Should have incorporated elevation and map into a single screen. I've switched back to using downloaded tracks on Pocket Earth for navigation and Consumer Eroski for elevations, lodging and commentary. ### 2/5 — eigentlich eine schöne App *2019-03-22* Nur fehlt die Höhenangabe im Höhenprofil und bei mir auf einem iPhone 8 stürzt die App beim Öffnen der Kartenansicht ab. Der Rest geht. Lösung für die Abstürze: iPhone-Sprache auf Englisch stellen. Ob ich das aber 800 km lang machen will, muss ich mir noch überlegen. ### 2/5 — Da fehlt jetzt was.... *2017-09-28* Vorweg: Den Camino Frances bin ich 2-mal mit der Wise-PilgrimsApp gegangen. Sie hat mir bei der Planung und der Durchführung geholfen. Das Elevationprofil mit Distanzen, Höhenangaben und Infos wo man Bars und Unterkünfte findet, hat mir wirklich geholfen. Danke!!!! Jetzt fehlen mir in der Norte-App aber die Höhenangaben und Hinweise zur Infrastruktur (Bars, Unterkünfte) fehlen ebenfalls. Sicher werden diese Infos wieder eingearbeitet????! Hoffentlich passiert das bald, denn ich möchte im nächsten Jahr nicht auf die gewohnte Unterstützung durch die App verzichten ### 3/5 — Has potential and limitations *2026-05-01* While I paid for the app, it seems impossible to download offline maps despite uninstalling/reinstalling etc. which is disappointing. And other apps such as Camino Ninja will serve better for planning, as Wise Pilgrim doesn’t function away from the route, except in a limited play mode. It’s hard to see the benefit of the paid version of this app, sadly. ### 3/5 — Was working well until last update. *2025-09-04* I can only assume am update happened that removed one of the most useful features. There used to be countdown of distances to Santiago on the towns on the map. Then you could easily scan ahead to determine which towns are in your walking distance with accommodation. Now you have to flip to the list to see distances but this still does not show the countdown distance. The sample images of the app still show this feature but if it’s now gone. Please return this valuable feature. I love the freedom of the app and that it isn’t broken into set stages. Great info, great offline maps and a perfect app for planning and as a gps backup 👍👍 ### 5/5 — Incredibly helpful *2024-03-29* I am two days out of Santiago and this app has helped me every step of the way from Hendaye along the Camino del Norte. Cannot recommend it highly enough. The map feature is vital to stay En route, especially as the Norte route can be more remote than the Frances. Has an offline map with albergues, hostels and hotels pinned (that you can toggle on and off). I downloaded it nonetheless and it was so great to have. The map shows you your current location with the Camino and alternative routes, which is very helpful. Possible confusions in directions are pointed out, every village has a section with useful information and the comment function means people can add and correct outdated information. Some short bits veered off the official Camino but very few.
