This app doesn’t let you plan your stages on the fly by holding down the mile markers which is such an essential part of the Camino experience i.e to work out how long you want to walk and where to stay. This app really doesn’t cut it. ### 2/5 — Hot garbage *2026-04-09* Crashes when entering info for barcode. Find a stable app. This app is not ready for customers. ### 4/5 — Brilliant, but…….. *2024-05-06* Having used the Frances last year buying the Portuguese was a no brainier. But after releasing your latest version I can no longer see the profile and the handy little green line that lets you know where you are. We started walking a week ago when it was working fine. Now when I press the icon for the profile - it just frustratingly kicks me out of the app altogether - aarrgghhh !! ### 3/5 — Falsche Wege hinter den Überschriften *2024-03-26* Bei der App sind zentral weg und Küsten weg vertauscht. Und bei den Höhenprofilen stimmt auch einiges nicht, da liegen andere Karten unter den Überschriften, espiritual.. das würde ich mal ändern ;) ### 3/5 — Promising but broken. *2023-08-17* A few points to start. I used it. It worked to get me through the Camino. I’m comparing it to the unfortunately defunct Camino Ninja app. The most annoying bug is that it won’t zoom to your current position without crashing. At least on my phone. If this had behaved better, I wouldn’t have been quite as annoyed with the app, especially after paying for it. I was constantly having to select my route and scroll for a ridiculous amount of time to find my position. There’s some inconsistency in links within the app. Sometimes clicking the elevation profile brings up the profile for the wrong route. Selecting a town on the map doesn’t seem to display a list of accommodations there, while selecting it from the list-view of the route does. There really should be a better way to visualize stages. Being able to select a desired end point using current position (or closest official point to current position) and visualize elevation, distance, and services only along that stretch would be better. Again, it worked. I guess I got my money’s worth. Still a bit disappointing though. ### 2/5 — Bug: No Route With Offline Maps *2023-07-13* On iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 16.5.1, no route appears on the offline map. This is a pretty significant bug considering offline maps are one of the features that are advertised as what you are paying for. There is also not a clear way to submit a bug report via the app or website, so my only option is through this review. ### 3/5 — The ways are changed , supposed be the opposite *2023-05-23* Küsten und Zentralweg sind seit dem Update vertauscht. Sonst passt es ### 3/5 — Missing info? *2023-03-01* Hi Michael, I love your apps, but with the Portuguese Coastal route it appears that there is something missing as Vigo isn’t there though it talks about getting through Vigo and the detail ends with Castrelos Park (though there this no detail either only the kms info). Am I missing something? Should I be switching to another section? Thanks! **Developer response:** Indeed there was a glitch which caused a section of the Vigo-Redondela to not appear. The profile is given, but there’s no way to tell the change in elevation height; no measurement is given. I have the Wise Pilgrim app for Finisterre and the change in elevation IS meters shown on the maps. Without it the map is not very useful-showing only relative height, which make it impossible to tell if something is just a dip or a mountain. I love all the details and the ease of access. It would be great if there were a way to mark and “favorite” any sites or even Albergue! Otherwise there is no way to anticipate And any work reading or planning ahead is lost over forgotten. ### 2/5 — Update has bugs *2020-03-03* I’m on the Camino now and needing to use the app but some sections have descriptions in English, others in German....??? I bought the English version and it was fine before the update. Saw that they fixed the maps from crashing constantly. As of March 2, 2020. ### 5/5 — Handy app to have on the trail *2020-02-29* The live map function has helped me on numerous occasions when I’m walking and unsure if I’m still on the route or not, a handy app to keep you on the right track. I use three different sources for guidance. The map function was very helpful on the Frances route putting me back on the route while in a large town. The offline maps downloaded, but the Camino route is not shown superimposed on the offline maps - only the stages are shown. The route is shown on satellite and standard maps, but these are not usable without cell service. So the app is essentially useless for navigation without cell service. In the Ponta Da Rocha barrio, the official camino signs are in Avda da Syra Alonso. The route shown in the app is a completly different route for several kilometers Strange for an app updated recently ### 1/5 — No contact info! *2018-10-29* Type is unnecessarily too small!! I am trying to use it right now on the Camino Portuguese central route and it is both out of date and missing some critical information. I realize putting an app together is not an easy task, but this paid one isn’t practical to actually use on the Camino. There are some major errors in the data and Wise Pilgrim does not offer a way to contact them about it. I would be interested in hearing about the major errors, as those should definitely be double-checked. Indeed it is a challenge to put together these apps, and for help with major problems I thank all of the users who contact me with changes to share with others. This version of the app also allows users to leave comments, which are available to other users and which come directly to my inbox so that changes can be made quickly. I will take a look at how the type size can be fixed. The Lisbon guide mentioned the Festival of St. Anthony on June 13th. I was going to start walking on the 12th. Obviously, I changed those plans. I like the map, the links to accommodations, and the recommendations from other users. The app was just updated a few days ago. I’ve used three other Wise Pilgrim routes and they’ve been great. ### 5/5 — Used this app for multiple various Caminos *2024-05-05* I always use Wise Pilgrim apps for our Caminos. We have done the Portuguese route various times, Variante Espiritual, the French route (from St. Jean and Ponferrada), and most of the Winter route. Every one we make sure to use these apps. So helpful for navigation, distance, elevation, lodgings, and a little bit of history. Makes the Camino with a family doable. ### 5/5 — Great for Portuguese Coastal and Litoral *2023-07-07* Absolutely loved this app for navigation on the Portuguese coastal/Litoral Camino. Was spot on for navigating 99%. Not that this would be a difficult route to navigate by simply following the arrows and signs most of the way, but there were several times, especially in larger towns and cities that the app was very useful for not getting lost. Loved that it combined the coastal and Litoral routes. Also very good for the Spiritual Variant, which I highly recommend. Only used this for Navigation, and there are other resources for other info. ### 5/5 — Fantastic App *2023-06-14* Invaluable tool for my Camino Portuguese. I love the “breadcrumbs“. When used with my location they guided me with confidence. I also used Wise Pilgrim to walk the camino in reverse back to Porto. It worked flawlessly. Especially helpful are the links to the various accommodations. Made making a reservation a breeze.
