The audio hasn’t worked for me for the past 3 days and there’s nowhere in the app for me to submit feedback. I don’t know if this is being fixed. Also the app constantly logs me out which then doesn’t give me notifications to do this daily. ### 2/5 — Content good; app bad *2024-02-22, version 1.4.2* I love the content of this app but the usage of the app is clunky, slow and of no value over using the website. In fact I have to use the website instead of the app because the app requires me to login every time I open it. However, on my iPhone 14 the app has not worked (even after multiple deletes and re-downloads) for a couple of weeks. The experience is good when accessing WGD in Safari, but PLEASE FIX THIS APP! ### 2/5 — Brilliant Devotionals - Buggy App *2023-03-28, version 1.4.1* I love the devotionals. Really I’m only leaving this review because I’m unsure how else to communicate the technical problems as it seems all app developer contact links are dead now. I haven’t been able to run the app for weeks now. When I try to open it the app sits on the splash screen forever. I believe they’re changing developers or something, but I would prefer a buggy app that opens to no app at all. I will HAPPILY change my review to a 5 star review (6 if I could) once the app is updated and I can actually open it. I’ve tried deleting and redownloading it, restarting my phone etc. nothing seems to fix it. These are fantastic devotionals and the app used to be the best way to open them, but I just wish I could still open the app. ### 3/5 — Stuck on title screen *2023-03-25, version 1.4.1* App only opens to the title screen. Pleassseeee fix this. Love the content, but can’t with the accessibility :/ I love this devotional, but the functionality of the app is not good. I often (try) to listen to this on my commute between kid drop off and work. Also most daily (pun INTENDED) I have to rest my password because my name/email isn’t found. Also, the set up of having to scroll through each devotional to get to the one you’re on within a series - oof!! I am HAPPY to donate more than I currently do to fund a better app platform. ❤️ ### 2/5 — Bit frustrating *2022-10-07* So firstly, big fan of Skye. Love his work and the way he breaks down the gospel. The app is perfect to read/hear his thoughts daily. So the content is great. Functionality is where this app is let down. In a world were most apps are slick and very responsive. This app is unfortunately rather clunky. Takes time to load material. Sometimes I click twice thinking it hasn’t registered the first click but it had and just taking its time. The other frustrating thing is how I have to keep logging in once I close the app. This was meant to have been fixed but it still happens. A slicker app would make this an amazing daily devotional, as it is I use it weekly or bi weekly because the experience is annoying. ### 3/5 — Great devotional but login not resolved *2022-09-28, version 1.4* I am really enjoying this daily devotional, but I still have to login every day. His devotional series has been nothing short of transformative for me, a long-time Christian who is currently disillusioned with the church as an institution, but is thirsty for a biblically sound daily devotional that is honest, hard-hitting, and isn’t trying to spout that Christianity is all about getting into heaven. My reason for giving the app three stars has nothing to do with Skye and everything to do with the way the app functions. It will not allow me to log in, no matter how many times I reset my password. I have to go to the website and log in to read the daily devotionals. There’s nowhere (at least not that I’ve found) on the website or in app to ask for assistance or contact the administrators about this problem. This morning I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. When I opened it and clicked the “login” button, the screen went blank. Just white. Aside from this one glitch (and it’s a big one for a paid app), I’m recommending you run—don’t walk—to subscribe to this devotional, even if you can only access it online! (Hoping the powers that be will see this review and be able to offer some guidance about my issues!) ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Can’t cancel *2024-12-04, version 1.4.2* There is no way to cancel the subscription on the app or website (they say you can, but it sends to an eternal loop). I’ve had to do chargebacks with my credit card company instead. ### 1/5 — Great content, horrible app *2023-09-21, version 1.4.2* I love the content but the app experience has made me not be a daily reader. Everyday I have to sign in to the app, no feature to remember password or open with Face ID. The layout is ok but having to log in everyday is a hassle. ### 1/5 — App has been defect ridden for years *2023-04-13, version 1.4.1* Like many others I appreciate the content but it’s pretty useless when the tech is a barrier. There are lots of plug and play content options - it’s not a good idea to hire a team to recreate the wheel unless you have experience in software to avoid constant outages and defects that inhibit access to the message. It’s bad to have poor UX and routine outages like this for weeks let alone years - makes me wonder if there is something else going on that would lead to these decisions and outcomes. I’ve tried many times over the course of a full year. Over and over it fails to load or crashes. Even after updating it, still if fails to work. As for the devotional content, it’s great. I do all of my listening through the website. I just wish I could access the devotional on an app. An app that WORKS would be amazing. Note to Skye: Please change your app developer. The one you are using doesn’t have the skills needed to develop a working app. That are many great app developers out there. Shared this a year ago via email, no change. App is still so inconsistent. Doesn’t open. What’s the point? I’ve reached out numerous times. But the reason I signed up for this devotional was to make it more convenient and easier to get into the habit of reading and learning about scripture, and this does not provide that. It logs me out constantly, and then when I log back in it tries to have me subscribe again even though I’m already subscribed. The content is awesome. *2022-02-16, version 1.2* First of all, Skye’s devotions are amazing. I have absolutely no complaint about the content within this app. But the app itself is horrible to use. It was clunky before the update and now it’s almost completely unusable. It takes 30 seconds or more just to open. THEN I have to sign in. Every time. It won’t save my login information at all. So just getting to a list of content takes a full minute at a minimum. And from there all interactions are extremely slow. I often end up places I do not intend because after tapping it gives no indication whatsoever that it registered my input, so I eventually tap again only to find that the app eventually catches up and treats my second tap as if it was interacting with the page my first tap was supposed to take me to. It is so frustrating to simply try to read or listen to a devotion within this app that I am so annoyed and distracted that the devotion is useless because I can no longer focus on it. ### 2/5 — The content is great, the app is not. *2025-01-02, version 1.4.2* I really enjoy the content. The content is so thought provoking & challenges many assumptions I held since childhood. Skye does a great job breaking down large theological concepts into several weeks of study & meditation — not skipping topics or little passages each day. If i wake in the middle of the night, often i will turn on the voice reading of the devotional & it’s such a blessing to medicate in God’s words in the middle if the night too. The use of historical prayers adds to the richness is the teaching. But With God Daily is meaty. Skye has a way of looking at Scripture and Christian concepts that are actually challenging. I love the prayers from faithful believers who have gone before us. And I really love how he does a series on a theme for a long time- so that concept really digs into your life. Once his app developer figures out how to set it up so my phone remembers the password with typing it daily- perfect. Thanks Skye! Your ministry encourages this Christian college professor deeply! The layout is concise and easy to use, and of course the devotionals are the best out there. I don't like a lot of popular devotionals--especially ones written for women (I'm a woman), but this one resonates with me. From the topics to what Skye says about God and life with Him, I am encouraged and challenged, and best of all, sometimes I finally *get* concepts that I struggled with previously. I also appreciate that Skye's beliefs fall into neither the conservative nor progressive camp exclusively. As someone who appreciates fine art and is not a visual learner, I even like the stick-figure illustrations! One seriously changed the way I view God: it was about prayer and the drawing was of a mother gazing into her infant's eyes. Seeing that stick-figure illustration helped me to see God as a loving Father who is approachable, instead of one who is annoyed by my struggles. It really is “the daily devotional for people who hate daily devotionals.” I have always wondered why I should bother with what someone else thinks about God’s word instead of just reading it for myself and hearing directly from Him, but in these short readings there is always something that resonates with His Spirit in me and helps me to see the beauty of a life lived with God. Also, I am SHOCKED at how relevant the prayers are! So, while I look forward to the app being refined, if I could give the content more than 5 stars I would!
