I have to keep my phone awake. This doesn’t happen with any other audio or podcast app. I know the audience is generally older, but you need some young folks in IT to make this app work better. ### 2/5 — Annoying ads *2021-01-05, version 6.18.0* 01/05/20 They have added a new ad to the broadcasts that bombard you with ads every time you start the app or after you re-start it when the app continuously crashes and the audio cuts out every 5 minutes just when you are about to hear something very important. When you restart the crashed app to try to hear what you missed, you get to hear a stupid ad instead. Nothing like being continually frustrated by this app. Why not just make it all ads because that’s all you are going to get anyways. Just get an AM radio. You won’t have to tolerate the pointless same ad over and over and over and over and over and over. Yep, that’s what it sounds like alright. ### 4/5 — Good most of time... *2020-11-20, version 6.18.0* Tends to drop more than you’d expect. Delays too long when I move away from wifi requiring switch to cell data. Usually have to swipe it off and relaunch. Relaunch forces listen to sponsor ad. Over and over. Annoying when listening to an interview and miss important info trying to reestablish link. Seems a bit temperamental . ### 3/5 — Ads *2020-11-17, version 6.18.0* I agree, I tune out wjr because of so many long commercial breaks. I can set my watch when the commercials will start. Frank is given just a few minutes to interview then has to break for traffic and weather, which is just an excuse for more commercials . I know radio is free for us, but so are the other stations. Stop being so greedy and give us back a good talk show. Remember JP!!! ### 1/5 — Don’t bother... *2020-08-27, version 6.12.0* The team that wrote this useless, buggy app that does not work (it does not go into play mode) defeated the team that flooded it with ads by a large margin. When I searched and chose yesterday’s Paul W Smith show, it played for a few minutes and kept turning off. I have enough sites, etc. tracking me and I won’t allow them to. I often just want a convenient way to listen to the shows but now I can’t, at least not on WJR. If you are interested in picking up some of the shows elsewhere, you can still use the KSFO app, they have a SKIP button on the registration page. Launch the app, you get 3 minutes of ads. It inserts ads during broadcasts, especially sporting events. Make a phone call during an ad? It pauses the ad and resumes when you hang up. Want to listen on your phone? If you turn off the screen on your phone, it stops playing. Apparently it wants you to stare at the banner ad while listening to zip recruiter and sports gambling ads. Car play takes it to the next level. Want to listen while you’re going on a trip? If you start playing and then switch to your map, it stops playing most of the time. No other audio app does this. Then sometimes it shows it’s playing but no sound. Yes, audio is turned on the car stereo because everything else plays. Other times, you get a black screen. WJR should be ashamed this app bears their name. ### 1/5 — Just use iHeart Radio *2025-06-23, version 9.1.0* What’s the point of this app if you can listen on iHeart Radio along with many other stations and podcasts? I wish I could listen to FULL past episodes of Mitch Albom on demand since it aires while I’m at work so I can never listen. If you have and iPhone delete this app now and ask siri to play wjr on apple music. Im sick of the ads you have to listen to ads already from the programs taking a break. Installing iOS 5 broke both of my AirKast apps on both my iPad and my iPod touch.
