Too many unnecessary links and obtrusive ads, and the worst interactive radar l’ve ever encountered. While I still watch WKRG News 5 on television for news and weather, I prefer WPMI NBC 15’s weather app ### 1/5 — New update is awful *2020-07-05, version 6.4.0* I don’t generally leave reviews of apps. I am doing this with hope that WKRG will recognize the less than user friendly update for their weather app and correct it. I hate to say I liked the old app because I do think it needed updating but this is terrible. ### 1/5 — Horrible after update *2020-07-04, version 6.4.0* The update has left this app completely useless!! The radar map is horrible! The time goes too fast to be able to tell anything when looking at the radar. It’s blurry to the point you can’t see it well!! Please go back to the old version!!!!! The new app has you moving between each instead of just seeing it all at once. ### 1/5 — Sorry excuse for functioning “app.” *2020-06-09, version 6.4.0* The new version of the WKRG weather app is horrendous. It is so awful in fact, that I might dare say it is a crime against humanity. I have never found myself leaving reviews on apps, but the chasm between what this app is in terms of quality now, versus what it was for the years that I used it prior, is vast. The new version is clunky. The new version crashes. The new radar is clunky. There’s too much going on. The simplicity of swiping through my few options was sufficient for me and I reckon for many others based on these reviews. The new map is way too bright. Defeats the purpose of the Doppler pickups contrasting the map. I suggest asking Alan Sealls what he thinks you should do. ### 1/5 — Fix the radar *2020-06-07, version 6.4.0* New radar is inaccurate and worse than the old one. Could between weather app and news app.. I don’t need or want all of the extra fluff. As far as I am concerned it is useless. Fancy is not better. Please bring back the old & simple!!!! I’ve been using it at least a dz. times a day since you changed to this new one. I still don't like it. It says 4&up. Guess I’m too old. Deleted & reinstalled. Very disappointing. ### 2/5 — Too many ads *2020-05-22, version 6.4.0* When you load the home page you immediately get a full page ad. If you happen to touch one of the numerous ads as you navigate, the ad takes over the screen and renders the app useless until you restart it and then you get another ad. The app looks very good and much improved when you are able to use it. Please roll back the ads and give us a big X to make it go away when one does appear. You are alerted at 3 am regardless of whether the alerts are turned completely off or not. Finally gave up and just deleted the app. ### 1/5 — Bring back satellite view *2022-08-08, version 6.8.1* Your new “modern look” to the map background has caused complaints by my mother and her friends. They want the satellite view back, because they don’t look at streets—they look at terrain via satellite photography. That’s why they used your app in the first place. And they are now looking for a replacement for your app after you broke it. No livestream feeds work. They advertise streaming but only offer dead links and frustration. Try Wala Fox 10. Deleted it. Why didn't you leave it alone? It deserves 0 stars but I had to pick one. Plus on this app, the icons that show locations are too big. Just a dot would be sufficient ### 1/5 — Use Storm Tracker 5 *2021-04-10, version 6.5.1* I personally don’t like this app, hard to use and doesn’t have great wheather radars. But the storm tracker 5 is my go to, hourly updates, notifications, nice radar. ### 1/5 — Virtually useless *2020-10-28, version 6.5.1* So many ads and video weather doesn’t work. It’s terrible and completely unhelpful. I always used to use this app for weather checking before using TWC. Deleting your app as soon as I submit this review. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — A lot great information for free! *2023-07-19, version 6.8.2* Most weather apps want you to subscribe to get all that you get here. We really appreciate the radar giving us an overlay of the NWS warnings. We live in an area with a lot of tornadoes and it can be hard to tell what path they are taking without seeing the polygon. This app gives you the polygons. ### 5/5 — Best Weather App for our area *2016-02-19, version 3.9.801* Better than Weather Channel! More accurate and so easy to use. A MUST for Mobile, Al residents and visitors who want to know how to dress for the day! Our weather changes so fast! There are also alerts that are very true to your exact location: "lightning within one mile of you!" You could tap on an icon to see wind speeds and other information but not anymore. Just found another app that STILL has this feature. It’s horrible ### 3/5 — New Update *2020-05-24, version 6.4.0* The old app, while looking outdated worked very well, I especially liked the heavy rain and lightning strike notifications. This recent update brings a much needed new look on the app, but I feel like the radar is less useful with not showing the cones for tornados, etc. As well as I cannot get the notifications for lightning and heavy rain to work, which I really liked previously, especially how it would read out the information, but this may be user error. ### 3/5 — Previous app was better *2020-05-08, version 6.4.0* Previous app was much easier to navigate and find what you were after. Horrible. *2018-09-10, version 4.6.2104* If I wanted to see what happened it the last twenty to thirty minutes I could just stare at the clouds. The radar loop is very very uninformative. I often can tell which way a storm is moving between direction and development.
