The autoplay is extremely annoying and embarrassing. Very little news but plenty of LONG ads overtaking any content. I’m going elsewhere for news now. ### 1/5 — Why I Deleted this App *2026-03-09* I just deleted this app after many satisfactory years. The latest update was horrible. It would alert me to a news items. In the past it would take me directly to the alert information. Not anymore. The ads would come first with loud volume. I would turn off sound but the next time it was blasting again. I could no longer discreetly monitor. After the ads good luck finding the news items. It may or may not be there buried in all the other news items of the last 24 hours. I finally just gave up and deleted it and now rely on WLEX18 for updates at least until they update their site. ### 1/5 — New update *2026-03-06, version 5.0.1* The new updated version sucks. It keeps showing I have a notification but I don’t. Also when you open the app you have to watch an ad before you can go to the news. The new layout is OK at best. Ads cover content CONSTANTLY! So frustrating! I finally deleted it. I’m sure this review will fall on deaf ears. I ### 1/5 — What a waste *2026-02-28* I have watched both WKYT & WYMT for over thirty years. They have had there ups and downs but at least you could count on them for the local news. Now days when my phone alerts breaking news I quickly open up my phone click the alert and am forced to watch a loud video add or a commercial for the news channel itself. They have quickly became the little boy who cried wolf. Do they no longer understand what breaking news is. If it’s important then i should see it immediately. The loud adds are not appropriate for all sitting they interrupt way too much. In summary I would recommend no one use this app until it has the video adds removed. Can’t read a story before seeing an ad. But now there are ads with malicious links. Having videos play at full volume every time you click to read an article is not a good thing. I can’t even use this app if I’m in public these days because of the stupidity of the autoplay feature. Used to be my go to for KY news, but no more. Also the clickbait headlines in the push notifications have gotten obnoxious. I purposefully don’t tap on them. ### 3/5 — Had to turn notifications completely off *2025-01-15* I wanted to give this app a higher rating, but even though I selected down to just breaking news for notifications, this app just kept pushing notification after notification. Today’s good question, I do not consider that breaking news. It also comes up with full screen ads with obscure clothes buttons. I have always been a big fan of WKYT for news, but I am quite disappointed in their app to be honest. ### 3/5 — Too many *2024-12-12* I adore WKYT, but the app disappoints me in that there are just too many choices and I feel like I am always missing something. I am far from computer illiterate, but this app overwhelms me as soon as I open it.
