If you design, install, or troubleshoot Wi-Fi and networks for a living, this is the calculator and reference set you carry in your pocket, plus the live diagnostics you reach for on site. More than 120 tools, organized so you find the one you need fast.

The reference tables and calculators work offline once the app is installed. The active diagnostics need a network connection to do their job. The app shows the tools each platform supports, and on iPhone and iPad some live Wi-Fi details use a companion Apple Shortcut you install once.

### 1.8.8 — 2026-08-28

Fixed: with the Wi-Fi radio switched off and a USB-C Ethernet adapter attached, the app named a Wi-Fi network you were not connected to and printed the Ethernet address as the Wi-Fi one. It now says plainly that you are not on Wi-Fi. The cause is that the address the app was reading is chosen by interface name, and a USB Ethernet adapter looks like an interface name Wi-Fi uses, so the wired address was read as a wireless one. The same mistake applied to USB tethering, which is far more common than a dongle, so that is fixed too.

Fixed: the address shown as your own could be the wrong one. On a phone with the radio off and a cable attached, the app reported an address belonging to the carrier's translation layer rather than the address on the cable. Addresses that are never a device's real address, including the 169.254 range that means no address was issued at all, are no longer offered as yours, and a real link is now preferred over a tunnel.

Fixed: Lookup (ARP/NDP) said a MAC address was not exposed on this platform when the platform had exposed several on the same screen. Those entries were hosts that did not answer, which is a useful thing to know about a network, and the app said something false about itself instead. Each entry now says which of the two it is, and where the source reports it, which interface the neighbor was seen on. A host reachable over both a cable and a radio appears once for each, which is a fact rather than a repeat.

Fixed: Lookup (BGP/ASN) reported Registry and AS type as not available on this platform when the routing database had simply returned nothing for those fields. The app now names the source of the silence rather than blaming your device.

The guide describes every platform the Toolbox runs on rather than two of them, and the Ping Sweep illustration no longer draws its label through its own arrow.

### 1.8.7 — 2026-08-05

Fixed: on iPhone and iPad the signal-to-noise ratio could be reported as a negative number, and a strong connection could be graded as poor because of it. If the app told you your Wi-Fi was weak on a link you knew was good, this was why.

The four bundled channel allocation cards have been reissued. The versions shipped before this release captioned U-NII-4 as not available for unlicensed use, which is no longer the case, and showed Standard Power carrying Low Power Indoor's channel ladder. If you printed one of those cards, print it again.

Subnet Planner does the IPv4 block math that spans more than one network. Split carves a parent block into right-sized subnets from a list of host counts, so the /22 you were handed for the site becomes a VLAN for staff, one for guests, one for the IoT gear and a point-to-point link. Summarize runs the same math backwards: paste a list of networks and get the single block that covers them all, plus the smallest set of blocks that covers them exactly. Useful when you are writing a route or an ACL and want one line instead of nine.

Summarize also prints what the covering block claims that you never asked for. Give it 10.0.0.0/24 and 10.0.3.0/24 and the answer is 10.0.0.0/22, along with the 512 addresses it swallows on the way: 10.0.1.0/24 and 10.0.2.0/24.

Transfer Time divides a file size by a link speed and solves for whichever of the three you are missing: how long the firmware push takes, how fast the link has to be to finish inside your maintenance window, or how much data moves in that window. Link speeds are quoted in bits and file sizes in bytes, and the factor of 8 between them is where the wrong answers come from, so your input is restated in bits under every answer. 1 GB at 100 Mbps is 1 min 20 s. The same file quoted as 1 GiB is 1 min 25.9 s, and that gap on a single gigabyte is why the decimal and binary units are kept apart.

BSS Load is on the tool list, and on an iPhone or iPad it will not give you a reading. No beacon information elements reach the app on iOS, so the screen opens and tells you it received none rather than showing you a blank. On macOS it decodes element 11 of the beacon: how many stations the access point says are associated, how busy it senses the medium to be, and how much admission capacity it has left. Those are the access point's own numbers about itself, so two access points on one channel can honestly disagree. Plenty of access points never send the element at all, and knowing that is itself a finding.

### 1.8.5 — 2026-07-29

Two new reference tools.

Batteries decodes what is printed on a cell. The code on a lithium coin cell carries its size: CR2032 is 20 mm across and 3.2 mm tall. The code on a button cell usually does not, and the app shows which is which, alongside a to-scale ladder of ten common sizes from AAAA to D.

SD Cards reads the marks on a card face. Speed Class, UHS Speed Class, Video Speed Class and Application Performance Class each promise a sustained write floor, and only one of them also promises random IOPS. That is why a card rated for 4K video can still be slow at booting a Raspberry Pi.

The 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz channel allocation cards have been reissued with corrected free-space path loss figures.

New: a 6 GHz Geofenced Variable Power channel card, covering the fourth power class the FCC authorized in 2026.

### 1.8.4 — 2026-07-22

Wi-Fi Information and the Roaming Log now show the exact center frequency next to the band, so a channel number is never ambiguous across bands. Channel 53 reads "6 GHz (6215 MHz)".

Interface Info now shows your local IPv4 and IPv6 addresses from the live companion Shortcut.

Accessibility: the Roaming Log's Start-recording control now announces its state correctly to VoiceOver.

### 1.8.3 — 2026-07-21

Accessibility. Buttons across the app now report their name to VoiceOver and other screen readers.

Location access. Granting Location permission now works on the Wi-Fi Information screen.

Clearer help. The ICMP Ping and Traceroute notes no longer imply a Linux desktop build. WLAN Pi support is coming.

More honest reporting. The Roaming Log states how many samples each summary is based on, and screens no longer report results they did not check.
