### 5/5 — Fun to learn

### 5/5 — The perfect app for learning Russian

*2025-08-26*

Trust me, I’ve tried them all and this app is crafted so thoughtfully and contains all you need. I’ve never written a review before but I’m so grateful for this app that i’m totally compelled to insist on how great it is. This will get you where you need to go if you get the premium package

### 5/5 — Helpful!!

*2025-07-14, version 6.2.6*

I just started, im 11 yo and actually am understanding way better!!

### 5/5 — Great so far

*2025-07-10*

I’m on lesson 17 now.
This isn’t my only method of study, but it’s a good way to learn the basics.
If you’re wondering about a comparison with Duolingo, Wlingua is so much better、 but I won’t make it the focus of this review.
Another aspect I enjoy is the straightforward lessons. Wlingua has no ads, the style of it is serious (not a game), and it’s toned down and casual. I love it.
In this app, the lessons actually explain functions of words, masculine, feminine, neutral genders (and mark them in the dictionary), and provide great notes on grammar and the case system. They also have an index where you can look at each word and see the case declension. In lesson 14-15, they teach you about the plural of nouns and adjectives with detailed lessons, and it’s really helpful.
I do have one suggestion. I wish there were a way to study and review verbs, not just nouns. For example, have some questions where you are given the infinitive of the verb and have to translate it to English, and vice versa. But still a great app.

### 5/5 — Best App for Russian everrrr

*2025-06-30, version 6.2.6*

Y’all download this, it’s interactive and much better than any other apps!!

### 5/5 — I don’t do reviews.

*2025-06-27, version 6.2.6*

But this app is fantastic. Free and provides great material.

### 5/5 — Great so far

I’m on lesson 16 now.
This isn’t my only method of study, but it’s a good way to learn the basics.
If you’re wondering about a comparison with Duolingo, Wlingua is so much better. Unlike Duolingo, wlingua actually explains the grammar.
Another aspect I enjoy is the straightforward lessons. In Duolingo there is too much gamification, colors, and stimuli- not to mention the absurd amount of ads between every lesson. Wlingua has no ads, the style of it is serious (not a game), and it’s toned down and casual. I love it.

Duolingo is actually the worst way to learn Russian now. They lock everything behind a paywall, replace workers with AI, and they literally explained NONE of the cases/падеж system, and it wasn’t helpful in the very least.
I think this app will be different. I will update my progress as I go through the course.

### 5/5 — Great so far

I’m on lesson 14, so I’ll update it once I get farther into the course.
This isn’t my only method of study, but it’s a good way to learn the basics.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Glitches

*2026-05-07, version 6.3.21*

The speaking option isn’t working, it keeps saying that I have no internet connection when in fact I do. Hopefully this bug gets fixed

### 2/5 — Loved it. But I can’t get the app to open again

*2026-02-24, version 6.3.19*

After 2 days of study and 6 lessons, the open won’t open for me at all. I have the Russian version and French version, and the French version still works for me, but the Russian stopped.

### 2/5 — Locked out despite subscription

*2024-08-07*

I’ve subscribed to Wlingua Russian for months via Apple subscriptions.

Abruptly, I couldn’t log in.

I emailed customer support, and apparently they decided to switch to using email addresses for logins rather than usernames…and summarily deleted access to all username-based accounts. Even is you’ve been paying them via Apple, using an identifiable email address.

My progress is just…gone. Without warning. Despite sending them hundreds of dollars in subscriptions fees.

And since this app relies on repetitive practice algorithms, restarting undermines the elevated subscription cost.

Shame. This was a decent app, but for the cost as high as that, this kind of thing should NEVER happen.

### 3/5 — Really good- but

*2025-01-04, version 5.7.6*

its an amazing app that explains grammar rules and practice spelling really well. but after a few lessons, some practice/exercises will be put behind a paywall and i just find that really annoying

### 3/5 — Demande de la version en français

*2024-07-27*

Dommage que il y a pas la version française car j’aurais trop aimé apprendre le russe

### 3/5 — Why words in the alphabet section has no sound??

*2020-04-27*

I just liked the course structure but There is no sound for words

### 4/5 — Great app

*2025-10-21, version 6.2.6*

This app is great for everything Vocab, Grammer etc, the only odd thing is that you have a premium subscription but if you need to make money somewhere

### 4/5 — Russian

*2025-08-18, version 6.2.6*

I love this app, it helps so much with vocabulary, grammar, etc. It also really helps with learning the cases. I’ve searched far and wide for apps to help with that and I found it. Amazing app!!

### 4/5 — excellent

*2025-07-17*

Best app so far. I'm using the pro version. As a suggestion, it would be nice if a notification appeared for new words added to the vocabulary library, in their respective fields, then it would be easier to find important words for review when I learn them. Thats why I didnt give 5 stars.

### 4/5 — literally amazing’

*2025-02-19*

this is such a good app and explains grammar so well but I wish I could go back to re-study a previous lesson without having to finish a new one. Sometimes I just want to properly understand something before moving on but cant because of this rule

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — O melhor!

*2026-07-20*

O melhor aplicativo, vocabulário extenso, exercícios muito bem feitos, áudio impecável. Super recomendo, este supera os concorrentes.

### 5/5 — So good for explanations and vocabulary!!

*2026-06-23*

I love how this app has actual lessons, explains the cases, and has a section with a ton of vocabulary arranged by themes. Also I love that it has reading exercises. Overall love this app already!!

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-06-13*

I like the detail and explanations of grammar much more than Duolingo, also it actually checks your pronunciation as opposed to Duolingo that takes any audio input and says its fine

### 5/5 — Muito bom

*2026-06-05*

É bão

### 5/5 — Grammar

*2026-05-26*

Absolutely perfect for learning grammar. Спасибо!

### 5/5 — Way better than Duolingo

*2026-03-22*

This is an incredibly good free resource. The problem with Duo is the lack of explanation and this resource does a great job explaining things simply. You get exposed to useful vocabulary as you go through the lessons. You can always review the previous explanations for every lesson and there is a massive vocab index of all the vocab words which is searchable and organized by category. This app is criminally underrated.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2026-01-29*

I learn languages for all my life, tried about every program out there, and this one is by far the best of them all because it has a balanced approach, is well structured and has even a built in dictionary. All that free. Simply awesome.

### 5/5 — Very good!

*2026-01-25, version 6.2.6*

I like this app a lot!!

### 5/5 — Didático!

*2026-01-14*

Extremamente didático e progride de forma confortável nas lições diversas. Vale a pena o investimento.
