Nachdem ich alle gängigen Apps ausprobiert habe und bei allen nicht zufrieden war, habe ich hier endlich die fast perfekte App gefunden. Userbility ist top. Es gibt genau die richtigen Funktionen & und keine unnötigen Funktionen. Einziges konstruktives Feedback wäre, dass die App mehr Wortschatzlisten in verschiedenen Sprachen bereitstellt (evtl. Zusammenarbeit mit Verlag) und dass die Integration von Übersetzungstools beim Eingeben neuer Wörter noch verbessert wird (mehrere Übersetzungsvorschläge, KI basierte Beispielsätze).

Man merkt, dass die Macher:innen der App, sie auch selbst zum Sprachenlernen benutzen! Ich frage mich, warum die App so unbekannt ist. Ich würde mir eine Zusammenarbeit mit Pons/Langenscheidt/etc. wünschen! Macht so weiter!

OK, so I had to uninstall this app obviously it says offers in app purchases. I seen that when I downloaded, but I didn’t expect after six vocabulary words that you manually input by the way which I’m OK with but you’re doing that you’re doing the work after 60, you have to pay for a subscription or else you can’t do anything else After 60 vocabulary words the app is useless unless you pay so I just feel a little bit click baited to be honest

言語学習でボキャブラリーを増やしたりセンテンスや熟語を覚えるために便利なアプリを探していて、色々と試した結果これが一番よかったです。シンプルでとても使いやすい。
Anki というアプリが人気ですが私にはこちらの方がずっと合っています。
聞きたいことをサポートに問い合わせるとすぐに丁寧な返信が返ってくることも優れています。 

I was looking for an app to help me expand my vocabulary and memorize sentences and idioms for language learning, and after trying several options, this one turned out to be the best.
 It’s simple and very easy to use. 
Although Anki is a popular app, I find this one suits me much better. 
Another great point is that whenever I contact support with a question, I receive a prompt and thoughtful reply.

Richtig gute App zum Vokabeln lernen, insbesondere weil man CSVs importieren kann. Was die App perfektionieren würde, wäre eine Möglichkeit einzustellen, im wie vielen Stufen man ein Wort grundsätzlich lernen will, damit es als gelernt gilt und entsprechend seltener abgefragt wird. (Vier Wiederholungen brauche ich dafür nicht.) Händisch alle Wörter eine Stufe weiter zu stellen, ist etwas zu aufwändig.
Zudem wäre es auch toll, wenn man einstellen könnte, dass man beim Abfragen die Tags sieht. Zum Beispiel habe ich Tags mit „Adjektiv“ oder „Adverb“ vergeben. Wenn die deutsche Übersetzung das gleiche Wort ist, wäre es gut zu wissen, ob ich nach Adjektiv oder Adverb gefragt werde.

schön zu hören, dass dir Wokabulary gefällt. Die Tags auch im Quiz anzuzeigen, steht bereits auf unserer To-Do-Liste. Die Anzahl der Lernstufen konfigurierbar zu machen, ist aktuell nicht geplant, allerdings kannst du in den Einstellungen festlegen, wie lange die Abfrageintervalle der Stufen sind. Wenn du die Intervalle auf Lang setzt, musst du nicht so viele Wörter wiederholen und stellst sicher, dass du deine Vokabeln wirklich im Langzeitgedächtnis hast. — Gabriel

This is a great app! The design and integration into the Mac and iOS ecosystem are excellent. Thank you for considering the family subscription (for us with school-age children, this means a lot). If you like playing with CSV files, you can create not only vocabulary cards but also anything else that interests you (just follow the CSV example provided for Word List on the app's website). I especially like the idea of ​​working with tags. You can create different levels or types of lessons with them. Also, all the other options in the app are easy to work with because they are similar to standard Apple apps, very intuitive. Finally, I would ask the developers to add a shortcut "import CSV file" in the Shortcuts app. Best regards,

Sehr tolle App. Die Bedienung ist sehr leicht verständlich. Vor allem die Möglichkeit Vokabeln mit Freunden zu teilen ist klasse. Und ein dickes Lob an den Support für die freundlichen Antworten und die Lösungssuche.

Ich nutze Wokabulary um japanisch zu lernen. Ich finde die iCloud Synchronisation toll, nutze es auf dem iPhone, iPad und Mac. In den Kommentaren kann ich verschiedene Formen von Verben eingeben und das Quiz ist ebenfalls gut gestaltet. Auch als Entwickler habe ich Respekt vor der ästhetischen Umsetzung. Ich wünschte mir nur noch, dass man die Schriftgröße in den Karteikarten anpassen kann - ich tue mir mittlerweile etwas schwer damit, die Kommentare in den Karteikarten zu lesen. :-)

Als ich die App zum ersten mal geöffnet habe, dachte ich einen kurzen Moment, sie sei von Apple selbst. Die Benutzeroberfläche ist mit viel Auge für’s Detail gestaltet und folgt der macOS Design Language perfekt.

Die Vokabeltrainings-Algorithmen funktionieren auch ziemlich gut.

I've been using this app for almost a year and have happily paid for it since the developers do a great job updating it regularly. Having tried both Anki and Wokabulary, I definitely prefer Wokabulary. It took some time to adjust to using hashtags instead of decks, but that was just a learning curve. The interface is clean and simple, which I really like. Some features aren’t immediately obvious, so you have to explore a bit to discover everything it offers.
The reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the built-in spaced repetition system. It’s incredibly restrictive and just doesn’t work for me. I put up with it but I don’t like it at all and I wish there was an option to turn it off and on. If you guess something correctly five times, it disappears for 5–6 weeks, which means you won’t see it again for a long time. Everyone studies differently, and the built-in repetition system just doesn’t work efficiently for me. If you want to review something more often, you have to keep marking it as a mistake, which is frustrating. There’s a “dry run” option, but it’s not helpful since it shows both the question and answer, making it completely useless. Being able to control your review schedule to fit your needs is everything. I reached out to them about this, but I got the impression that it won’t be addressed because it’s not considered as an issue. I understand that, as the creators, they believe in their system, but unfortunately, this issue has made me consider looking for other solutions. Overall, it’s a good app, but with some frustrating limitations.

But still, our repetition scheme is indeed opinionated and not fully configurable. And while we think it is the best system for vocabulary learning, it will certainly not suit every learning style. Liebes Wokabulary-Team,
Eure App ist super! Und ich habe sie auch jahrelang bezahlt. Ich erwarte gute Leistung nicht umsonst. Aber wenn ich mich recht erinnere, kostete das Abo bislang 23,99 EUR. Jetzt werden 29,99 EUR aufgerufen. Das ist eine Erhöhung um 25% - fünfundzwanzig! Entschuldigung, Ihr habt sicher Argumente für alles, auch für diese Entscheidung. Die Argumente kann ich zur Kenntnis nehmen. Aber für mich reiht Ihr Euch damit ein in die Reihe der Supermarkt-Besitzer, die das krisenbegründete Preisniveau immer weiter zur eigenen Bereicherung erhöhen, in die Reihe der Unternehmer und Unternehmensberater, die für „Shrinkflation“, schwer zu erkennende Verringerung von Packungsinhalt zur Gewinnmaximierung, verantwortlich sind und in die Reihe der Gastronomen, die die Mehrwertsteuersenkung selbstverständlich NICHT an Kunden weitergeben. 
Entschuldigung: Aber eine Erhöhung von 25% halte ich schlicht und ergreifend für unanständig!
Mir geht es nicht um die Höhe des Betrages; ich könnte das bezahlen. Mir geht es um‘s Prinzip. Preiserhöhungen in solcher Höhe dienen in erster Linie der Gewinnmaximierung - da können Sie argumentieren, wie Sie wollen. Sie liegen damit im „Trend“. Aber nochmal: ich finde das unanständig, ich unterstütze das nicht. Und ich habe mein Abo gekündigt. Die App lösche ich nächsten Monat. Schade. 
Ein zahlender Kunde weniger. Tut mir leid.

**Developer response:** Das ist nicht richtig. Wir haben den Preis von Wokabulary nicht erhöht. Wenn du zuvor €23,99 bezahlt hast, dann sicher, weil du das Abo als Teil unserer letzten Back-To-School Rabatt-Aktion gekauft hast. Dabei haben wir Wokabulary Unlimited Pro mit 20% Rabatt für das erste Jahr angeboten. Das wurde nicht nur deutlich im Kauf-Dialog hervorgehoben, sondern sogar ausdrücklich beworben. Und natürlich ist es vollkommen OK, das Abo nach dem günstigeren ersten Jahr zu kündigen.  Aber es ist eben nicht so, dass du nun mehr zahlen müsstest, sondern du hast im Gegenteil dein Abo günstiger bekommen. Dafür nun eine schlechte Bewertung zu vergeben, auch in dieser Wortwahl, finden wir unangemessen.

Update zur Antwort des Entwickler: 
Danke für ihre Antwort. Leider ist diese jedoch etwas komisch und nicht ganz richtig. Anki Pro kostet zwar auch 30 Euro pro Jahr, lebenslang kostet AnkiPro jedoch nur 79,99 Euro. Wokabulary kostet ganze 130 Euro. Das ist 50 Euro teurer. Das ist wohl für die meisten Anwender interessant, da 1 oder 2 Jahre für die meisten zu wenig sein wird, wenn man sich mit einer Sprache ordentlich beschäftigt. Obwohl wokabulary deutlich schlechter als AnkiPro ist. Daher habe ich mich für AnkiPro entschieden. Da habe ich auch keine Werbung.
Und bei ihrem Vergleich von einer einfachen Vokabel App und einem Sprachkurs, erschließt sich mir nicht der Sinn. Das eine ist eben ein Sprachkurs und das andere eine Vokabel App. Äpfel und Birnen. Für beides gibt es natürlich unterschiedliche Preise. 

Also der Preis dieser einfachen Vokabel App ist wirklich nicht nachvollziehbar. 30 Euro sind unverschämt, damit verschreckt man die meisten Nutzer:innen. Dann nutze ich doch lieber die kostenlose Anki App, welche zudem viel mehr Funktionen bietet.

**Developer response:** Hallo Wolf, Wokabulary kostet mit €30 pro Jahr etwa so viel wie ein Sprachkurs-Buch und genauso viel wie vergleichbare Apps. Auch Anki Pro, AnkiApp und AnkiMobile kosten jeweils mindestens €30. Da wir weder Werbung zeigen noch die Daten unserer Nutzer:innen verkaufen, müssen wir die App kostenpflichtig anbieten. Me parece vergonzoso que hayáis eliminado la antigua aplicación de Wokabulary y no hayáis dado ninguna solución a las personas que compramos la App. Esto es denunciable. Mejor no invertir en una App que puede desaparecer de un día para otro.

**Developer response:** Lo siento, pero esto no es cierto. Si has comprado Wokabulary 5 Legacy, puedes seguir usándolo tanto tiempo como desees. E incluso si has eliminado la antigua aplicación de Wokabulary, como cliente existente, puedes descargarla en cualquier momento desde el historial de compras de la App Store en tu cuenta. Ich habe die Vorgänger-Version genutzt und war sehr zufrieden. Nun wird auf die neueste Version verwiesen, die Synchronisierung dauert aber ewig bzw. passiert nichts … minutenlang. Obwohl ich gar nicht so viel Wortschatz in der alten Anwendung / Cloud hatte. Schade!

**Developer response:** Hallo daniminga, danke für dein Feedback. Die allererste Synchronisation mit iCloud kann tatsächlich einige Minuten dauern. Anschliessend werden einzelne Änderungen aber in der Regel binnen weniger Sekunden auf alle Geräte synchronisiert. Bitte beachte, dass der iCloud-Sync vom Betriebssystem gesteuert wird. Wenn dein Gerät im Energiesparmodus ist oder die Netzwerkverbindung schlecht ist, kann es sein, dass iOS die Synchronisationsintervalle verlängert. Same old story “…it was not an easy decision…the cloud and desktop features require constant development…the one time purchase business model doesn’t provide the recurring income required to keep up with maintenance and support…blah blah blah”.

We must be fair here: do all these apps really need all this maintenance??

It seems every little stupid app wants a monthly payment. Wokabulary is not a stupid app but its subscription does not offer an added value to the user experience. There is no ongoing service and the app uses iCloud and no external server or cloud service. And the improvements of their updates are little. Of course subscribing to services like Spotify, newspapers, magazines, etc is fine by everyone. No one expects to pay once and then have access to Apple Music and all the new albums forever. 

I don't see any reason to pay regular fees to an app if it doesn’t involve any recurrent costs with me running the app. Users are getting smart, they give value to quality apps and their money. The often find alternatives, they cancel their subscriptions. Apps may also disappear out of the blue.

The hybrid model is the only way to go: you buy an app and you get updates for, say, one year for free and then you can keep using the app without further updates or you can repurchase for a lower fee to get another one year of updates. This model motivates the developer to really improve the app, otherwise people are not motivated to repurchase. 

I'd rather pay for an upgrade than be held hostage to a subscription for all eternity.

I understand that developers think their work is worth something, no doubt. But too many of them are pricing their app subscriptions far too high for what they are providing. 

The subscription model is not bearable anymore. We passed the line.

En su día ya pagué 22.98€ por esta app, y me parece bastante feo que en lugar de actualizarla, creéis una version nueva que solo permita suscripciones mensuales/anuales. 

Al final, solo pedisteis sugerencias en la antigua para luego poder implementarlas en la otra y encima exigir pagos mensuales. Una cosa es pedir un pago extra por nuevas funcionalidades, y otra muy distinta esto.

**Developer response:** Todos los usuarios de Wokabulary 5 reciben un descuento de más del 55% en Wokabulary 6. Esto supone 17 euros en la suscripción anual. Así que se te abonará una parte sustancial del precio original de Wokabulary 5.

Empezamos Wokabulary hace muchos años y durante mucho tiempo fue un proyecto paralelo a nuestros trabajos diarios.

The app runs very slowly, the Apple computer and the mobile phone can not synchronize the label, the computer version and the mobile version are very slow to open.Basic syncing and running is not tested well, why rush to go online. Disappointed.

Thank you very for your feedback. We haven't seen this issue yet. Synchronization is done via iCloud. Please ensure you have iCloud and iCloud Drive enabled in your system settings.
If this doesn't help, please  contact our support team with information on your operating system and a screenshot or short video of the problem. I am sure we can resolve that!UPDATE (v6.0.6): In the last few updates, we have applied several performance optimizations. Wokabulary is now much faster and more responsive, especially with large vocabularies. Thanks for your feedback on this — it helped us improve the app!

### 1/5 — It was o.k. but now it sucks

They jumped on the bandwagon of subscriptions, no one-off payment anymore. You can try the app with up to 60 words and to add more you need a subscription plan. Subscription plan??? Are you serious? 

Besides this, I would not/will not use this app anymore also because they haven’t heard the users’ requests on their feedback page. The app is basically the old version with a new icon and the seedy “subscription” feature merged into it.

The user interface is still sketchy.

They only added an option for custom vocabulary name and an easier way to switch between languages. The new tag feature concept is a disaster.

The app has now become a mere flash card kind of app: not a serious dictionary builder. How in the world they have never ever designed a list view for words? They are in love with big fonts and big rectangular fields showing you the words wasting space (from a UI point of view) and time (from a user viewpoint, given that you need to scroll up and down forever to find the words you need to check).

Maybe that’s good for children. Serious language learners/lovers/students please buy the only real app capable to build you own professional dictionaries/vocabularies (with flash card as well, if you like them so much): iVocabulary.

I read that you generally don’t appreciate subscription models. So maybe I can tell you briefly why we decided on one.
To keep updating and improving an app, a steady financial foundation is necessary. A subscription model allows us to focus on making the app better for our existing user base instead of constantly needing to generate new sales as with a one-time purchase. 

We started Wokabulary many years ago, and for a long time, it was a side project to our day jobs. So, we would answer support mails in the mornings and evenings, fix bugs on the weekends and add new features now and then. We are an indie development studio of 3 people – no venture capital, no selling of user data.
By making the switch and getting a subscription, you directly support further development. We have a long list of feature requests on our feedback forum and, for the launch, we concentrated on those with the highest priority for our users (feedback.wokabulary.com). We have already added some new features since the launch, and we will release updates with new functionality regularly.

The word list and the organization of words with tags and automatically assigned learning levels is the heart of Wokabulary. On top of that, we added a new quiz mode, a unified interface over all devices for seamless switching, a Watch App, more advanced tag management, filters, new statistics and achievements.

We deliberately published Wokabulary 6 as a new separate update, so existing customers can keep using Wokabulary 5 as long as they are happy with it. The switch to Wokabulary 6 is completely voluntary, but we think the new design and features make it a great upgrade for most users of Wokabulary 5.

Die App funktioniert gut und durch die Tags lassen sich die Vokabeln sehr gut organisieren. Mir ist sie leider viel zu teuer für eine Vokabelapp, da man ohne das Abo nur 60 Vokabeln eintippen kann und ich deutlich mehr Vokabeln habe.

Googleスプレッドシートからのインポートが物凄くスムーズなので、基本的な単語セットを作り、Google翻訳をかけてインポートすれば、複数言語の単語帳が5分で作れます。もちろんアプリ内での追加・編集も自由自在。複数言語の単語帳を一元管理したい私にとっては完璧な選択肢でした。また、技術的な質問について運営に問い合わせるとすぐにマニアックな長文返信が来て、楽しく頑張ってこのアプリを育ててる雰囲気が出てきて非常に好感が持てました。データベースが大きいとApple Watchで動きづらい点、次の大型アップデートで改善したいとの事、楽しみに待っています！

Wokabulary8でApple Watchでの動作が改善され、私のSeries7でもサクサク問題なく単語テストができるようになりました！

This is by far the best language-learning flashcard SRS application availble. I’ve been using it for years now, I have a two-year streak and a vocabulary of over 8000 Italian words.  The guys at Coding Friends (especially Gabriel) are extremely responsive and helpful too. I have nothing but good things to say about this app. È molto utile quando si impara una lingua.

Heii heii, ich benutze Wokablurary schon suuuuper lange und bin auch sehr zufrieden. Über die Jahre haben sich eine Menge Vokabeln angesammelt und häufig fällt mir auf, dass ich eine Vokabel zwei oder sogar drei Mal abgespeichert habe. Viellicht wäre es eine Idee, eine Duplikat-Suche einzubauen? Oder, dass wenn man das Wort tippt, einem angezeight wird, ob man es schon hat. Würde mich freuen, wenn ihr die Idee auch gut findet 🙌🏻

Googleスプレッドシートからのインポートが物凄くスムーズなので、基本的な単語セットを作り、Google翻訳をかけてインポートすれば、複数言語の単語帳が5分で作れます。もちろんアプリ内での追加・編集も自由自在。複数言語の単語帳を一元管理したい私にとっては完璧な選択肢でした。また、技術的な質問について運営に問い合わせるとすぐにマニアックな長文返信が来て、楽しく頑張ってこのアプリを育ててる雰囲気が出てきて非常に好感が持てました。データベースが大きいとApple Watchで動きづらい点、次の大型アップデートで改善したいとの事、楽しみに待っています！

Die App ist wirklich großartig! Sie funktioniert auf allen Geräten einwandfrei und synchronisiert sich zuverlässig und schnell. Selbst auf der Apple Watch kann man sich fix mal ein paar Vokabeln abfragen lassen. Der Preis ist absolut fair und absolutely worth it!

Endlich eine flexible Vokabel-Lern-App mit super Tagging-Funktionen, toller Systemintegration – so dass man über den Share-Dialog einzelne Wörter einfach zur Vokabelliste hinzufügen kann – einem plattformspezifischen user interface auf SwiftUI-Basis und nicht zuletzt einem freundlichen, hilfsbereiten, nützlichen und menschlichen (!) Support. Was will man mehr?

Diese App ist wirklich sehr gut durchdacht und funktioniert wunderbar. Man merkt, dass sich über die UX viele Gedanken gemacht wurde und dass sie von Menschen entwickelt wurde, die selber Sprachen lernen und Freude daran haben. Auch das Design ist sehr clean und übersichtlich. Mit dieser App macht Sprachen lernen wirklich Spaß!
