### 3/5 — App doesn’t work with iOS 16 - needs updating

*2022-12-29, version 1.26*

This app was rather marginal to begin with - a rather poor user interface, but now it doesn’t work at all, with the new iOS update.

UPDATE: The vendor has updated the app to work with iOS 16. They were kind enough to call and leave me a phone message to inform me. The app is still a bit clunky, but it works and the outlets are great.

### 2/5 — Wow A Lot Too Late

*2022-12-29, version 1.26*

Update is way too late. Already replaced with ones that use HomeKit. But I’m glad you finally updated for those that still wanted to use your devices. I would still not recommend since you basically said $&@! You to all your customers by your responses and lack of fixing the issue. Blaming Apple for the issue was not smart either, if other similar devices can still update their software to work than you can too.

### 2/5 — App Breaks with iOS 16

*2022-12-08, version 1.23*

App does not work to connect outlets after updating phone to iOS 16. Outlets no longer pair with 5Ghz network either. It appears devices are also phone specific. Logged in on an older phone to connect outdoor plugs but will not sync to newer phone. Used to work decently but now it’s lost all the smart features.

### 3/5 — Not compatible with OS16 or higher at moment

*2022-11-27, version 1.23*

Luckily, I have an old iPad that has not updated yet. Running IOS15.7.
Spent hours trying to make work on phone or iPad Pro.

I hope these guys make an update soon as this is a great product.

### 3/5 — Currently not compatible with iOS 16

*2022-11-23, version 1.23*

I’ve been using for several years and the app and devices are pretty good but it’s not yet compatible with iOS 16. Prior to this issue the only complaints I have is sometimes adding new devices is a bit finicky and if there’s a power interruption the devices default to off so they won’t automatically come back on when power is restored until the next “on” signal comes from the schedule or you have to manually turn them on.

### 2/5 — Can’t add devices to app on iPhone iOS 16

*2022-11-11, version 1.23*

Can’t add new devices on iPhone with iOS 16. Existing devices still work with app. WiOn support says it’s Apple’s problem. The hardware works fine, but the app is dated. You can’t organize devices on the app. They stay in the order the devices were added to the app. You’d have to delete devices, then add them in the order desired.

### 3/5 — disappears!

*2022-10-03, version 1.23*

power blip and maybe two plugs show up. I need to crawl around on floor to unplug, plug back for each fixture. Sometimes for no reason at all a couple wont show up.
I do like the ease of setting these up initially, just wish company would work on issues. when they show up, they are great.

### 4/5 — Did ios16 kill this app?

*2022-09-29, version 1.23*

No longer works after updating iPhone 11 to 16. Still functions on my other devices. Otherwise it’s a great basic app.

### 2/5 — Could be nice but…

*2022-07-09, version 1.23*

…developers ruined a good thing by pathetic user interface: to know whether switch is on or off, one has to try to detect a faint color change in the icon! In certain lighting conditions that’s next to impossible. How hard would it be to make it clearer? I’d say rather trivial. I’d be ready to give it 5 stars if this was fixed.

### 2/5 — App was working for a couple years, but just stopped working

*2021-09-29, version 1.22*

Not sure what’s going on…this app, which looks like it belongs on an iPhone 4, has actually worked fairly smooth for the past couple years but all of a sudden will not connect after repeated attempts restart/reset. I’m wondering if the company hasn’t updated its app to be compliant with new iOS security? Hoping the company will at least let us know if it no longer plans to update the app to keep basic functionality. If this issue is somehow “user-error” I will be the first to delete this review.

### 1/5 — Wion App is Absolute Garbage!

*2021-03-13, version 1.22*

I was looking forward to this wifi switch, and could not be more disappointed. App is totally worthless. No customer service. Avoid. Now I have to drive to Kohls to return. All your company did was waste my time and gas money. I sense they will be out of business soon.

### 1/5 — Will not connect to internet

*2021-03-04, version 1.22*

I have had this only a few months it quit connecting to internet it says to plug in even though it is plugged in. It will not reboot. Very frustrating quit working just after the return time return expired.

### 4/5 — Reliable, mostly

*2021-01-31, version 1.22*

I have tried 3 different smart plugs and apps over the past 4 years. This is the one I have settled on. There is a learning curve, but once you master it, the app is very reliable. I now have seven of these smart devices, 2 of them outdoors. 4 stars instead of 5? I just don’t give 5. Everything can use improvement. Keep updating!

### 2/5 — Connects to plug, but not Google Assistant

*2020-12-06, version 1.22*

App looks like it hasn’t been updated since the iPhone 5. Instructions are fine enough to get a smart plug up and running. Let’s you control the device from your phone.

Instructions for connecting your account to Google Assistant are out of date. I was able to create an “account” with WiON, but the link to Google Home keeps giving an error, “Something went wrong. Please try again later.” Nothing I’ve tried as a workaround was successful.

Works for home control, but doesn’t live up to what it advertises for integration with Google. Will probably keep if for the holidays and return the smart plug - haven’t decided yet.

### 1/5 — Can’t connect remotely

*2020-09-13, version 1.22*

What’s the point of this device when it constantly cannot connect remotely. Other smart outlets are able to do it consistently. This one does not even have update feature. Poorly implemented and useless from away from home. Can only use the app at home within home network range.

### 1/5 — Just stops working, no reply from customer service!

*2020-07-07, version 1.22*

I am using this device to control things at my cabin. Multiple times now I have had this app working, and then suddenly I can no longer find my devices. I literally cannot operate or turn off anything unless I drive to my cabin three hours and re-install the device. No one has replied to emails for months and nobody answers the phone. I’m incredibly frustrated!

### 1/5 — Junk service and product

*2023-11-11*

I needed to change the wifi in a wion plug. This should be a simple process which it is with most people. This is not the case with wion app. I spent 30 min talking and texting with two different peoples about this issue and at the end I was told I have to pay for a service to update the app in order to reconnect to my wifi.
I refused to pay for a service to upgrade their junk software. I will buy another smart plug which will automatically will connect to my wifi.
This rating should be -5 if it was an option.

### 1/5 — It just stopped showing your devices

*2023-06-05*

It used to work decently. But last year it would just randomly stop showing by devices. They are just gone. I have to either redo everything or sometimes it fixes itself after a few days. Very frustrating when you have the patio light attached to it and you have visitors. Or I have a reading light on the couch that turns itself in and off automatically. But how frustrating when you want to read and the light disappears from the app. Just annoying. They should be able to invest and fix the app. It’s 2024!

### 1/5 — Needs update to iOS16

*2022-12-20, version 1.23*

Long-term user of Wion stakes for many years. Bought a new one in December 2022 and cannot control it with the app which seems incompatible with iOS 16 (iPhone and iPad) to add a new device. App needs to be updated for compatibility with the latest version of iOS

### 1/5 — App Needs Update

*2022-12-05, version 1.23*

I have used Wion for 5-6 years now. I recently just bought three new dual plugs for new exterior lights. But then recently the plugs have not been working. It appears to have stopped working when I updated my iPhone to IOS 16. The app is also dated and could an update to its look and functionality. The timers always worked great for me and never had to worry that it wouldn’t turn on. The app used to have five stars in my mind, but now it is a one star.

### 1/5 — Old, poorly designed

*2022-11-29, version 1.23*

The UI here is old, but the worst part is that it's just a poorly written app. The countdown timers often do not work, either not starting or stopping the device. It always asks for Location Services (not going to give that) on every startup. Wish there were something else to control these devices.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2022-11-13, version 1.23*

Literally doesn't work in my version of iOS. It worked at one point, but never well. No longer able to find any wifi networks to connect to and no other way to control the device.

### 1/5 — Not working with iOS 16

*2022-11-02, version 1.23*

Only the primary phone (the one used for setup) is able to see any of my WiOn outlets since updating to iOS 16. Hundreds of dollars in WiOn products are currently useless as others on my network cannot use them. This app needs fixing immediately!

### 1/5 — No longer works

*2022-10-30, version 1.23*

I bring up the app and it crashes. I see it still ‘there’ but doesn’t stay up. iPhone 11 with 15.7.1

Old 8 with 15.6.1 stays up, but only sees two of my plugs. Supposedly it should see the other plugs if brought up on the same wifi network. Still only see two plugs.

Alexa still has control of them on the 11, but no ability to change settings that I see.

Please create an update. I really like these plugs and would hate to have to abandon the ecosystem.

### 1/5 — Needs updating

*2021-11-16, version 1.22*

Keeps giving me error report even though I’ve followed steps numerous times. Will not connect to home network, which is never a problem with the numerous other devices in my house. Then went to app support and that doesn’t seem to be working either.

### 1/5 — Junk

*2021-10-22, version 1.22*

I've tried for over an hour to get it connected to my outlet with no success. Following the directions word for word gets no results other than the app crashing repeatedly. Against my better judgment I bought this product, I guess you live and learn.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — It’s perfect and it stays that way

*2024-02-13*

I am so sick of apps that feel the need to change the user interface every 60 days. This app has remained the same for years since I’ve used it and it’s never changed and I love that. It’s a simple app it does what you need to do and it’s not complicated. That’s how all apps should be.

### 5/5 — Back to up rank the app

*2023-02-21*

Now that iOS15+ is supported, I’m back to give this app its good rating once again. Easy to set up. Reasonably priced devices. Eco-plugs and WiOn devices work with both apps. If your app still fails, delete it and reinstall. I did this and it worked as it used to. And I didn’t lose the devices already saved. Not sure if it pulled the data from the WiOn device memory area of the phone or the eco plugs. But it had the devices and timers still present. I only needed to tinker with a few facets of each device’s settings to be back to the old days. Now to dig more devices out of the garage and find stuff to set onto timers. Good times.

### 5/5 — It works again!

*2023-01-18, version 1.26*

I had given this app a very low rating as it stopped working when IOS 16 came out. It was a nightmare as I relied on the app to turn on important items. Here’s what I love about the app 1. Aside from the recent IOS issue, it it VERY reliable, if you look at many competitors’ apps, that is definitely not the case. 2. The app is very simple - easy on/off and easy to program with a few clicks. 3. No constant and definitely unnecessary updates like the competitors - very annoying. 4. It doesn’t constantly prompt me to enter my user name and password like competing apps - every other time I try to use those I end up wasting 5 minutes looking for and entering credentials. Kudos development team, keep it up!

### 5/5 — Such a great product

*2021-05-26, version 1.22*

I’d had this app and many WiON devices for years. They work well from home and far away from home.
Schedule time on/off for devices such as fans, lamps, Christmas lightings, portable indoor cameras, TVs and entertainment systems… This can help save on energy bills.

### 5/5 — NFL Coach

*2020-06-29, version 1.22*

I haven’t had any problems w/ the app.
You must have WiFi and location to use the app.
Just set up the early part of June 2020!

### 5/5 — Great easy to use app

*2019-04-03, version 1.15*

We use this app to control our pool lights and our cafe string lights. WiOn is so easy to connect and to program! It also connects back again by itself after a power loss. Highly recommended!!

### 5/5 — Incredible Product!!

*2019-02-24, version 1.15*

I just installed my first WiOn controlled device using the Smart Box. It manages a 230v pool pump. I followed the wiring diagram for a typical 240v water heater since the pool pump is 2 lines of 120v each. Very easy to follow. General diy capability is all you need. The hook up to the router and the iphone via the app took less than 15 mins. Very happy. Great stuff!!

### 5/5 — Easy to use, works well

*2018-09-25, version 1.15*

I have had no issues unless my WiFi was down, which was the issue, not this. Simple, basic, and straight forward. I wish it was readily available.

### 5/5 — Great Product

*2018-02-19, version 1.15*

The app is very easy to use and pairs quickly to your devices. I have many of these and the timers are great.

### 5/5 — Easy to Setup and Use

*2017-06-13, version 1.15*

It took 2 minutes to set up. I can turn the lights in my house that are plugged into the outlet on and off from my phone anywhere. I also like that I can automatically set the lights to go on/off at certain times on different days for when I go on vacation.
