### 4/5 — So Close…

*2022-07-19, version 2.7.4*

I LOVE this game—been playing it every day since it’s inception—but there are two things I wish would’ve finally been resolved with this latest update.

First, implementing landscape mode on iPad. Next, on tv—with the second gen Siri Remote—using the arrow keys around the touch sensor registers as a button press instead of navigating the home and menu screens. It’s a bit annoying when wanting to select the Daily Puzzle (on the main screen) and instead taken to the “main” game; on the in-game menu screen, it will automatically select the ‘hint’ button, when I’m actually trying to exit the game.

Hopefully, these things will be corrected in the next update.

*And, I’m assuming this is a bug, but there was an update last week (July 6) that brought 100 new puzzles to the main game… but only to the tvOS; the iOS and iPadOS versions still show last update “8 months ago.”

### 4/5 — Needs a little bit more detail

*2022-07-05, version 2.7.4*

I like this game and some puzzles are challenging. What I would like to see different is the progress bar stay on the screen during the whole game instead of appearing and filling and then disappearing only when a word is completed. In other words, the progress bar will be on the screen where it always has been, but instead of appearing and filling and disappearing, it will be on the screen empty when each puzzle starts and fill as the words are completed for the entire duration of the puzzle until it is completed. This is why I rate it four out of five stars. Thanks for a fun and sometimes challenging game to pass time. Keep up the good work. I look forward to new updates in the future.

### 4/5 — Review

*2021-03-09, version 2.1.5*

I think that this game is very fun and very good for your mind. I do think that you should have to earn your hints instead of being able to just have them there for free use. Or else this game is very fun and stimulating.

### 5/5 — Wow!

*2020-11-12, version 2.1.5*

This app is so much fun! No matter how much I play it, it always gets rid of my boredom. It not only is fun, it is also slightly educational. It can help with spelling, and each picture has a fast after it. (Or a joke just for fun.) I love how it has infinite hints, so no matter how hard it gets, you can have automatic help.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2020-11-01, version 2.1.5*

This is a really fun game. It gives your brain a challenge, and gives you unlimited clues if you have difficulty. This is a really great game for anyone who can read, from new learners to seniors. It’s good for improving spelling and strategic skills. I’m twelve and I really enjoy this game and anyone else who played it also loved it. It’s the first Apple Arcade game I ever played, and it’s the one that keeps me entertained for the longest. I would really love it and if you are looking for an simple, easy, and fun game, this is a really good game for you!

**Developer response:** Thanks for such a detailed and thorough review. We love to hear feedback from all types of players, young and old. ❤️🧡💛💚💙

### 4/5 — Thanks! :D

*2020-08-17, version 1.8.8*

Look this is a great game. But I find it just like every other word game. I don’t understand why this is Apple Arcade.

Plus, the hint bugs me the most in the game, when I need a full hint, it takes forever for the hand to finish what I saw before. I’m not the most patient person in the world, so this really bugs me.

It doesn’t seem worth it. It feels like I’m playing any other word game just with no ads. I will continue to play, but I had higher expectations. -Thank you!

Thank you, developers. I have never gotten a developer’s response. I’ll look at your game in a different way now. Thanks you and have a nice day!

### 5/5 — Simple & Fun

*2020-08-17, version 1.8.8*

I could easily see this being a go-to game that I play to pass time. Simple concept that keeps the brain fresh and can be put down and picked up within seconds.

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2020-08-13, version 1.8.8*

This game is amazing sister has it my little sister has it and my brother has it and we all love it but I think I like the most I couldn’t believe my parents got it for me well I mean that I think all the kids should get this game I really enjoy it I think I could be a little challenging maybe just add a challenge that would make this game even better then ever before 😂

### 5/5 — Word laces

*2020-05-19, version 1.6.8*

Word laces is so cool! I love it so much. It has so many levels and unlimited hints and awesome pics. It has relaxing music and words. I play it with my family and I was so happy when I got it, and now I play it almost every day. It’s just so cool! I seriously recommend you word laces.

### 5/5 — Great game! But..

*2020-04-21, version 1.6.8*

I LOVE WORD GAMES!! This is definitely on my list of great games to play, especially to pass time. I also love that hints don’t need to be paid for, that is REALLY BENEFICIAL! Thank you for that, btw. I think it’s very clever to think about all that could be going on in a picture. That really puts your puzzle-solving skills to the test. I enjoyed this game very, very much. Unfortunately, I have played through every level haha. Didn’t realize how close I was to finishing. Now I’m done! Lol. Maybe in the future, more levels could be added to game? I’d greatly enjoy that, I want to keep playing this game! I love it!

**Developer response:** WOW you finished all levels already?! Thanks for the 5 star review, we will add more levels soon.

### 5/5 — Lovely and Relaxing

*2020-03-24, version 1.6.8*

Minimega is magic at creating games that are relaxing with the perfect amount of challenge. I have been playing Bonza since day one. I signed up for Apple Arcade just to try this. I would love to see themed packs- like pop culture. My favorites are the images that have tons of tiny elements.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Accessibility nightmare

*2019-11-03, version 1.4.3*

I was super excited for this game, but it’s totally unusable if you have any sort of issues with your hands. It relies on you to maintain contact with the screen and smoothly draw between word parts. I don’t know why they don’t allow you to just tap the word parts in sequence. I have a small tremor in my hand, and I basically either lose contact with the screen, causing me to have to start over completely or I don’t draw straight enough and end up selecting multiple things along the way.

### 2/5 — It’s… okay

*2022-10-14, version 2.8.8*

It’s not a bad app, it’s just boring. I gave it 2 stars because it’s not awful. But I don’t like it. I am, however, glad other people like it. And as some other people said, it’s similar to other word games but without ads. I just thought it would be more challenging. I think it would be suitable for kids or anyone who prefers to “zone out” without much thinking (such as my mother).

### 2/5 — No depth or meaningful challenge

*2021-10-07, version 2.4.3*

I’ll admit I stopped playing after the first hundred words or so (and a poke around the sparse menus to see if I were missing something) and that there may be hidden depths later in the game, but from what I saw the “gameplay” doesn’t offer any more challenge or engagement on your 100th (and probably 1,000th and 10,000th) word than it does on your first word. There is literally only one acceptable word at a given point in the game’s sequence, it is always a word representing the image on screen—if I were playing via keyboard, this would at least make sense as a typing-practice game; instead it’s little more than a grade-school spelling quiz. If you liked looking at a picture of a bird and spelling ‘bird’ in the tutorial and want to keep repeating that action, I say have at it. For adult fans of word-based puzzle gameplay, look elsewhere.

### 2/5 — Accessible to the blind?

*2020-09-27, version 2.1.2*

Hello. I'm blind and use the VoiceOver screen reader on my iPhone. I tried your game. The first puzzle where the player has to write the word Bird, only the letters B and R were visible to VoiceOver. I had my sighted wife look on screen. She could see the I and D but she could not activate them with VoiceOver. Please consider making your game more accessible to the blind and low vision community. I know of a lot of blind users who would love this game, and to be able to play accessible games on Apple Arcade in general. Thanks.

### 3/5 — Absolutely fine.

*2023-09-21*

A nice mid-tier word puzzle game. I love the lack of time limit, not having the standard star rating to judge how you did, and having free hints. Makes the experience relaxing (which is a good thing) and casual. I’ll probably continue playing to some degree because of those strengths. But at the same time I find the puzzles and the mechanic for solving them lackluster. The photos that serve as clues for each puzzle are very sterile. Strong stock photo energy, if you know what I mean. Finding the words relating to the photo is just kinda ok. Most of the time there’s one of two outcomes: I spot the word fairly quickly, string it together, and move to the next. Or I don’t spot the word and spend ages staring at the options before finally getting a hint and, then, spotting the word quickly and moving on. And I think the problem is there’s only ever one word to find at a time. You find it, more letters show up on the screen for the next word. As such, when you stall, there’s no way to put the word aside and work on something else. It’s either find that word or stop playing. It’s just not a puzzle loop I find engaging.

### 3/5 — It’s alright

*2022-04-08, version 2.7.4*

The concept is cool and I like collecting new laces, but the actual gameplay can be frustrating. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of logic behind some of the words they try to get you to make. Sometimes it takes me a really long time to get a word, and then when I get it, I’m like “huh ok, I guess that kind of makes sense…” On the flip side, it seems like a lot of the words are just really, really obvious and easy. So there isn’t a lot of challenge in the game, but when there is, it comes from being confused and guessing. If I want to play something similar to this I usually play the secret word mode on Wordle. It doesn’t have pictures but the words make more sense and it’s more challenging in a good way.

### 3/5 — Too easy

*2022-01-18, version 2.7.4*

I was looking for a fast, challenging word game to play on Apple Arcade but this clearly isn’t it. Ok, if you like easy, slow paced games and aren’t a great speller, then this could totally be for you. But unlike me, I want a challenge! I’m suggesting you can pick you level or where your at in spelling. That way, it’ll fun for everyone! 1 is easy words like dog and cat. 2 is harder words like hairpin and animal. 3 can be even harder with Oklahoma and chocolate. Then 4, the hardest of all, can have words as big as certificate, leprechauns, concluding, and more!

### 3/5 — Fun, but a little lackluster

*2021-01-15, version 2.1.5*

While this is a fun and unique little word puzzle game, a lot of the words associated with the image seem to have just been pulled from a synonym dictionary. This game also suffers from hyperbole, where they might show a picture of burnt toast and one of the associated words is tragedy. Another example is a picture of a man losing a trophy and the words associated are catastrophe and disaster. While these are technically correct, they are a bit exaggerated and don’t ultimately fit the theme of the picture and come across as out of touch.

### 3/5 — Does not reward creativity

*2020-11-01, version 2.1.5*

This game rewards you for thinking inside the box only. See precisely what they want you to see and don’t move a level forward until you do. Don’t be original, creative, funny, or self-directing. Don’t enjoy spotting more or extra. Don’t “think different.” And don’t have any dexterity issues. Words must be selected by swooping around in a fluid movement. No options. Don’t play in bouncing vehicles or offer this game to your friend with arthritis.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. You're right, the game is designed with specific answers that fit together like a crossword. Sorry about the touch issues, some players might prefer using a controller.

### 3/5 — Dissatisfied

*2020-05-17, version 1.6.8*

I am past level one hundred and I gotta say this is a great game. I have two problems though :(
1. There are infinite hints. Level after level I am able to use as many hints as I can and the game gets easy. If you want to have fun don’t use hints or else the game gets super lame
2. It takes a while to unlock new shoes! I only have five skins including the default. I’m disappointed that it is so hard and takes a long time to get new skins.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — 5 Star Review

*2023-01-04, version 2.8.8*

This game is one of my go to games when I am bored. It is challenging and all the puzzles are really great. I would 10 out of 10 recommend this game if you like word challenges. World laces Is super fun and isn’t just a trash game. This game makes me very happy. Totally love this game! Try it! I think you will totally love I I!

### 5/5 — BEST GAME EVER

*2022-06-12, version 2.7.4*

I absolutely love word laces! It’s got the same challenge level as any other word game basically, but NO ADS!! When you unlock shoe boxes, it gives you skins at random, so you can compare with your friends! There are free hints, and you get them right away- no wasting coins, money, stars, or having to watch an ad! It’s just challenging enough that it’s not just “spell dog” but not so challenging that it’s frustrating. It gradually gets harder as you go through levels, too! The only thing I’d say I’d fix is that there’s only 1,300 levels. Yes, that sounds like a lot, but I’ve had the app for a week and I’m on level 200. But overall, this is probably the best deal and my favorite word game I’ve ever gotten! Actually, it’s probably one of my favorite games I’ve ever gotten! I play when I’m bored, when I’m not, and any time in between! This is one of the best games I’ve ever gotten and I recommend for sure!!

### 5/5 — It’s kinda calming

*2021-11-17, version 2.7.4*

The game is a bit between calming and frustrating but other than that I really like it, although I do use a lot of hints and I’m really happy that it’s on Apple Arcade.

### 5/5 — AMAZING GAME!!!

*2021-10-25, version 2.4.3*

This game is AWESOME. At least in my experience. I luv how relaxing the game is. It is really fun. This high-quality video game is is addictive and fun.
This is highly recommended by me.

P.S. My experience with the game may be different from yours if u play this beautiful game

### 5/5 — Why I like this app

*2021-05-30, version 2.4.3*

I like this app because it helps people Wright and learn more about what and how to spell and it’s really calming down because of the music and I like it.

### 5/5 — The best word game ever

*2021-03-25, version 2.1.5*

I will start of with the fact that I love the free hints no other word game that I’ve played has free and unlimited hints thx you so much

The puzzles are not to easy and to are not to challenging thxz (thanks)

I love the pictures some are cartoons and others are real pictures

It’s a relaxing game It doesn’t make you want to throw your iPhone at the wall 😂 like other word games

It might stress you out but the hints are free and unlimited so stress no more

The shoes are a funny and cute idea

I would recommend this game for you if you like word games it is enjoyable and challenging a great game for me and perhaps you

### 5/5 — Arcade could use a lot more like this!

*2021-02-20, version 2.1.5*

This is a very solid casual word game. I wish there were more word games in Apple Arcade and I wish word games was a separate category to make them easy to find.

### 5/5 — LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS GAME❤️❤️❤️❤️

*2021-01-23, version 2.1.5*

I really am enjoying this game! I have been looking for a fun puzzle word game like I see in so many ads for a long time! The drawback to all of those are the ads after every level, and every hint locked away with a pop up to purchase more. I usually quit playing those after making it to level 5...😖.

However, because it’s on Apple Arcade, what this means is:
 No Ads,
Hints with no paywall
Playing to my hearts content!

I am so grateful that whenever I need help, the hints are right there, not locked behind a paywall or on a timer to get a “free” hint that’s actually unhelpful. I’m amazed at how puzzles are available; over 1000 puzzles and I hope there will be more in the future!

Thank you for making such a fun and easy to use puzzle game I can play anywhere! 😊

TL;DR If you want a fun Word Puzzle game without worrying about getting stuck and losing interest this is the one for you!

### 5/5 — I LOVE IT, NO IMPROVEMENTS, JUST KEEP WHAT YOU‘RE DOING

*2021-01-18, version 2.1.5*

Hi! I played this game for a few minutes and I am instantly in love with this! I love the way it is not just fun, it is also fun to learn! So now, every night before I go to bed, this is my studying app that I play to guess, and maybe even LEARN new words! So thank you🙏🏾 thank you for making such a fun app.

### 5/5 — G r e a t G a m e 🖤

*2021-01-12, version 2.1.5*
