Would like each layer different pale or pastel colour. Better scoring....higher graduated points for longer words, or bonuses for special hard to use letters.

But it would help enormously if the unavailable tiles were lighter, maybe with the letters grey and the box paler. Literally makes my eyes hurt!  Otherwise he premise is good.
