I was in the middle of a game when I updated iOS - now pressing “New” crashes the game. However, it would be useful to be able to continue a game past the time limit, just to see the possibilities. Also, it would be helpful to be able to shuffle when it is inconvenient to shake,such as with an iPad I play against my self so I don't care about competition. I want the game to add to my vocabulary and not just be a addictive way to spend time. This version does not appear to be in the AppStore, which is sad as the others won't let you eliminate the boring 3 letter words ### 4/5 — Good but Flawed *2017-02-11, version 3.1* I enjoy this game and it would be 5 stars except for some annoying things. First, the sound keeps disappearing at random times. The only solution I can find is to delete app from phone, then download from cloud again. Then the sound returns. But then goes away again in another day or two. Second, the swiping of letters can sometimes be VERY annoying as they don't respond properly or quickly. Slows you down as you're playing. Third, their dictionary of words is highly suspect. Some real words are not there at all. But the game recognizes other words that definitely are not words at all. Especially some that are all consonants. It seems to sometimes use proper names, abbreviations, and odd slang expressions, etc. For example, how can things like "cgb" or "trw" or "xtc" or "nps" be words? I've seen dozens of so-called words like this in this game. The game is still fun and challenging overall, but these 3 issues really hurt its rating. ### 5/5 — Best Word Game *2015-08-22, version 3.0* I've played just about every word game on my iPad, and this one is my favorite by far. Play it till my eyes are too blurry!! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Don't buy until they listen *2010-11-18, version 0* The developer seems to think that an appeal to authority ("That's the dictionary used in international competition."*) overrides a customer's desire to have a reasonable dictionary, and a choice between dictionaries. It tools about 30 seconds for my wife to find "luke" in the dictionary, and she immediately rejected the program (whose UI is rather good) on this basis. It's a shame, because she would like it if it had a choice of dictionary... * Developer's remarks are have been simplified, but I believe I have caught the spirit of the exchange. ### 2/5 — Update killed playability *2016-10-12, version 3.1* This was my favourite word app. However, the Oct '16 update for the IPhone has made it too hard to register when a tile has been selected - great game rendered largely unplayable. ### 2/5 — Disappointing *2016-05-11, version 3.0* I've been looking for a replacement for Boggle for over a year (Boggle no longer available in app store). Tried and purchased more than a few. This one is ok if you don't mind banners running along the bottom touring the latest online winner of something of other. I just want a relaxing game to play on my own; competition with others is NOT relaxing, nor are the color choices for the screens. Not awful; just not Boggle. ### 2/5 — Kinda fun *2010-03-07, version 0* It's kinda fun but mostly useless since it's impossible to guess all the words when it just makes words up. Interface is great gameplay is great but game itself is deeply flawed since it has no standard set of words. Almost any three letter combo will count. Where's the challenge?? The only problem is that selecting letters sometimes is glitchy. Even though you trace a clear path across the correct letters, for some reason, very frequently this app doesn't properly recognize the letters. The user interface feels really dated as well. I wish I would have purchased the newer version of this app (by the same developer), but with a blue and yellow icon and interface. Also the same idiots play over and over so unless you are super good you are blocked from making the leader board. Not a big deal but can be frustrating! ### 3/5 — My most played game on my iPod touch *2011-06-08* I'm completely addicted to this game. Can't fall asleep at night without playing first. My only "real" complaint is that it's usually not accurate when it tells you your rank score. One improvement I'd love to see: once a word is completed, I'd like to be able to touch on it and see a definition. Not a lot of help to "learn" a bunch of new words and not have a clue what they mean.
