### 5/5 — Highly recommend!

*2012-05-28*

Very smooth interface. The join-the-dots feature is unique and tbh addicting! I like hearing the sound of fits being joined in a single stroke. The number and variety of characters are also pretty sufficient for a beginner learning new characters. The intonations are also completely accurate with the meanings stated below. Speaking from the POV of a native speaker.

### 5/5 — Very high quality app!

*2012-05-24*

The interface is nice, and this app is really helpful for learning Chinese characters. It'd be more useful for me if their was support for Traditional Chinese characters.

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2012-04-27*

Incredible app. Couldn't be better

### 5/5 — I cannot believe this is free!!

*2012-02-01*

Omg I love how they provided this quality education at cost free unlike those other money greedy companies out there that charges you and still you learn very little at the end. In fact this app is better than majority of the paid apps out there for learning Chinese.

Although there is one better app out there for writing Chinese in terms of fun, this app beats that one not from the fun engagement factor but from the learning factor, this app basically has everything you need to learn the Chinese language except sentence / grammar structure and only has 1500 words, if this app had 3000 character you basically learn the to be proficient in Chinese assuming you know how to build sentences with the words and phases you learn from this app. Really hope they update it to 3000 characters soon. For now 1500 words will get me to start simple conversations with Chinese people.

### 5/5 — What a brilliant little App

*2012-01-25*

I'm amazed this doesn't have more reviews or ratings. It works lovely. Great UI, fun to use and I can see it really helping people learn to write Chinese. And also to learn basic words. Perfect.

### 5/5 — Fun

*2011-10-17*

This app allows you to write in chines. Chose one of the symbols and read the meaning. You can trace the symbol and test yourself on "test mode". It is a great way to learn more ways to write

### 5/5 — One of the best

*2011-10-06, version 1.1*

For learning how to write this is the most fluent and easy app to use. It has many options and tons of characters. Simple and does the job. I would reccomend this first above any other app (and I've tried about 30 from the app store). For more complicated ChinesePad is great, otherwise, this is your app. For free, I use it the most for learning how to write (and inevitably read).

### 5/5 — Amazing. And free!

*2011-09-27*

This is a great app for learning the proper order to write Chinese characters. I have young children and we recently moved to China, so this game-like app will be great to help them learn the written language.

Is it the end-all, be-all of Chinese-language apps? No, but it fills its niche well and helps to build a more comprehensive language learning experience. Especially for laowai kids who love spending time on their parents' iPhone.

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2011-09-02*

Very nice organization and easy to use app althoigh it would help if there'swas a quick guide to exactly what all the buttons do without having to press them first. The graphics are easy on the eyea and the stroke order easy to follow. Speaking as a heritage speaker, their audio and translation/word info is very accurate as well. Like it a lot:). Would be nice to have the option of hiding the meaning so i quiz on that too

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Good Promise but unstable

*2013-12-27*

The idea is good. But the app needs much more polish. Crashes quite a bit currently.

### 1/5 — Bug :(

*2013-02-08*

Info: Every time I launch this app, it crashes. I don't even know what the first screen looks like.

Using: iPhone 4s

User: Tech savvy, 4th yr Chinese student.

### 3/5 — Has potential if updated

*2015-03-31*

This is a great and unique app, but has limited characters. The app crashes every time I try to make a folder, both on the iPhone and iPad.

### 4/5 — Word tracer sugestions

*2012-05-07*

Most valuable app ever tried for learning Chinese characters
Can't wait for updates with more than 1500 characters
Ability to handle two character words
And a slight improvement in the test mode that will show correct stroke if wrong one is entered
Ability to allow user notes - even if it is a limited number of characters

### 5/5 — 太棒了！

*2014-04-24*

Very helpful app! I highly recommend new Chinese students train via this method, it will naturally instill the muscle memory needed for the correct “学习”

非常感谢！

### 5/5 — Good learning tool

*2014-02-09, version 1.4*

I've been using this app for a while now. I'm still impressed with how good this app is. 1500 characters, with pronunciation, stroke order, definition and examples. You can change the settings for more or less prompting from the app all the way from stroke by stroke guidance to only the pinyin and definition.
Since figuring out how to do custom lists, I can match the characters from my textbook with this app. Handy practice that fits in my pocket.
What I at first assumed was just a gimmick is actually a solid learning tool.
Developers, update to ios7 please!

### 5/5 — Excellent!

*2013-08-09*

I saw this app on my friend's ipad and downloaded it myself. I have been looking for something like this. It is excellent to use to practice writing Chinese and it also has translation which helps expand the Chinese vocabulary. Highly recommend it!
