## What is WordCue?

HOW TO USE WORDCUE:

1) Meet a word you don't know: on a sign, in a show, in a chat

2) Snap a photo and tap the word, or type it, paste it or say it*

3) Get what it means right there, explained in simple words*

If you want to understand English, Spanish or French the way people really use it, WordCue gets you there one word at a time.

We aren't another translator. A translator gives you one word back and throws the context away. WordCue reads the sentence around your word and explains the meaning it has there: in the language you are learning, at your level, with a real example. Keep reading, watching and listening; we make sure no word stops you.

If you have any ideas or questions, please email us at hello@wordcue.app.

NOTE: Explanations are written by AI and may occasionally be wrong. Slang and vulgar meanings are explained honestly and labelled.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-10-06

New: the card opens right away. Look up a word and its most common meaning appears at once; the other meanings are listed under the card, one tap to switch. Under the word you now see its syllables, with the stressed one underlined, and its part of speech — for the built-in dictionary too.

Photographed a word? Tap it, and the meaning it has in that very sentence opens as a regular card.

Have a code? Redeem it from the Upgrade screen or right on the welcome screens.

Also: a clearer Upgrade screen with both plans side by side, tidier Settings, and a lookup that cannot reach our servers now stops with a clear message instead of waiting. Our home is now wordcue.app, and you can reach us at hello@wordcue.app.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-26

New: WordCue now speaks Spanish and French. Choose the language you are learning in Settings › Learning language; words are looked up and explained in that language, with their own saved and recent lists. The monthly plan now starts with a 7-day free trial too. Also: refreshed intro screens, and a swipe with the keyboard open no longer hides the search field.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-24

New: a Recent screen with your last 10 lookups (turn it on in Settings). Saved words now keep their explanation exactly as you saved it and open offline. Fixed: tapping the speaker button again while a word was playing could start a second voice, and the search field could disappear behind the keyboard. Lookups recover faster when the service is slow.

### 1.0 — 2026-09-22
