Simples gutes Design. Warum allerdings gibt es direkt in der ersten Session einen Fehler? Es heißt nicht „S‘il vous plait“ sondern „S‘il vous plaît“. Da ich mein iPad mit dem Magic Keyboard nutze, bringt da nur eine Darstellung im Hochformat recht wenig. Da gibt es genug andere Alternativen z.B. But the English vocab prompts and some of the Estonian answers, are inconsistent and confusing. Eg. The English prompt will just say “Open” - does that mean you want me to supply the infinitive “To open”, or the adjective “open”, or a conjugated version eg. “He opens”? The answer the app accepts as correct varies, and there’s no clue as to which it will be (eg. Most times it’s the infinitive, but for the prompt “Go”, the correct answer is given as “Läheb“ which means “He goes”. For the prompt “Open”, the correct answer is given as “avatud”, which is the adjective “open”). Similarly, answers to pronouns are inconsistent - for “we” and “you”, the answers deemed correct are the short forms, “me” and “sa”. But for the English pronoun “me”, the correct answer given is “mina”, the long form. Frustrating errors to find in an app that seems to be really good in other ways. ### 5/5 — Super great system and support! *2021-02-11, version 4.34.85* They quickly helped my issue with my subscription so now I can return to this lovely and well laid out system, it really puts it in my brain faster than other language sites and systems i’ve tried. Highly recommend! ### 3/5 — Schade, aber auch gut! *2021-02-04* Hallo, ich finde diese App sehr gut, ich bin nämlich ein 10- jähriges Kind, was unbedingt Englisch lernen möchte, aber das ist nicht der Punkt! Ich finde sie wirklich sehr gut auch die Fragen am Anfang. Doch dann als ich gesehen habe, dass es Geld kostet (es ist nicht relevant wie viel) musste ich es leider de- installieren. Best regards, WordDive team ### 5/5 — Better than Duolingo! *2021-01-12, version 4.34.85* Duolingo is visually more sleek than WordDive and offers a gamified take on language learning, but Duolingo is largely funded by ads (FTP version) and has the budget for a much larger dev team to facilitate bug fixes and a sleek UI. While WordDive is a paid app, they appear to have a smaller, more specialized dev team. Fortunately they have focused their team on what matters most, the content. Where Duolingo relies on voluntary (unpaid) efforts from native language speakers, WordDive has a staff of language experts curating the course content. WordDive’s lessons are less about gamification and more about learning the language at hand. It alternates focus on reading, writing, and speaking exercises, pairing grammar lessons along with each new concept. Unlike Duolingo, WordDive actually forces you to take a break/cool down before being able to complete a course in full, meaning that the content is more likely to stick long term. Having fully completed the (beta) Finnish tree on Duolingo prior to purchasing a 1 year Word Dive subscription, I’ve found that Duolingo currently only offers ~10% of the content that WordDive has for Finnish and that WordDive can teach Finnish you from levels A1-C2. While both apps give you a base in your respective language, I would suggest WordDive for those serious about learning and using the language they have set out to study. These lessons are hard to me because there is just so much thrown at once. The lessons need to be broken down into smaller sections because you don’t have time to absorb it all before more stuff is dumped on you. Though the app only offers Spanish from Spain not Latin America. I downloaded it and the entire signup was in Spanish and assumed I wanted to learn English. Thank goodness my Spanish was good enough to go through all of the questions to set up my program. I thought when it was done it would allow me to go back and choose another language - nope, the only option given me was to continue with the English learning program set up for me. Not helpful since English is my primary language. I’ve turned off my phone, updated it, deleted and redone loaded the app and no audio. ### 1/5 — Horrible customer service *2020-04-14, version 4.29.34* I tried a free trial of this app a couple months ago. I cancelled it. TWO months later, I randomly get a charge to my card for the subscription. I immediately investigated and found my subscription had been reactivated. Though they’re claiming I never canceled despite me following the proper steps to cancel months prior. As far as a refund for the $10.08, they quite literally told me that it was my own fault and I didn’t give them a good enough reason to refund the money. The returned email was highly unprofessional and I responded accordingly and let them know that I would be escalating the issue higher. ($10 isn’t a lot of money, but it’s the principle of the matter). I then received yet ANOTHER email, stating that they would go ahead and refund me as a “good will gesture”, but they demanded far too much information from me. Below is an excerpt from the email I received. “For the refund we would need the following information from you: bank account number, name, address, city, clearing code (ABA routing number/Fedwire). Please note that we are not responsible for any bank charges your bank might charge you based on the refund sum. When we make the refund, we are only responsible for the bank charges our own bank charges us. Also, all our refunds are done in euros.” Thankfully, my bank and Apple were more help than this joke of a company. ### 1/5 — Don’t download it , it’s a trap *2020-04-05, version 4.29.34* I’ve been trying to cancel it and the app just won’t let you do it in the 24h , forcing you to keep the subscription!! ### 1/5 — All in Spanish *2020-03-21, version 4.28.29* This app was all in Spanish automatically and I couldn’t change it bad ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Really Enjoying It *2024-06-11, version 4.39.33* This is the first language app I’ve used that has kept me engaged. It gives a good range of vocabulary at once and is great for sentence structure. I like to read over the sentences to myself and I’ve been learning so much more this way. The app also gives short grammar lessons as you go through the course. There’s no lives lost or anything too video game-ish, which I tend to find distracting. It still has cute animations, but nothing too in your face. I’m going to subscribe! ### 5/5 — Easy to lean a language and at your pace *2023-12-27, version 4.38.120* I’ve always wanted to be able to speak Spanish, but I haven’t been able to find the product/course to give me the confidence to feel I have the ability or drive to succeed. But Worddrive let’s you do just that. If you feel you need more training, you can just repeat the lessons as many times as you like. Worddrive not only gives you audio and visual but it gives you grammar as well.
