So you might enter a game with fifteen seconds left on the clock. This was fine, except now you need to pay in order to have unlimited games. Otherwise, you only have a couple free games per day. Its really annoying when you only get two free games and one of them is fifteen seconds long. No point in having the app at this point. ### 2/5 — Used to be great *2024-03-14, version 1.0.11* I’ve played this game on android for many years. Right before I switched to iOS, Sven updated the look and feel of the game (on android and apple) and moved to a pay to play system. Fine, I’ll pay, I’ve gotten a lot of enjoyment out of wordhero. But I won’t pay for the clunky piece of garbage it is now. Harder to use, less customizable, less clean, bloated. Half the fun was other users and now it’s nearly empty in there. I’d pay to have the old wordhero back. ### 2/5 — New update issues. *2023-09-23, version 1.0.11* I’ve been playing this game for a long time. The constant bug issues, game freezes never really bothered me, until they changed it to where you now have to either watch videos or pay them to keep playing. For a free game, I didn’t expect perfection. But until they rid it of the constant crashing and freezing issues, not a dime from me. ### 3/5 — Flawless on android *2023-09-11, version 1.0.10* This game is flawless on android. I've kept it on my phone for at least 5 years consistently and is one of the first apps I usually download when I get a new phone. There are some issues on apple. - my score only shows up on the leader board if it is less than 500, if I get a great score it just shows up as "?" With no score. Half the fun is trying to place top ten - there are no bonus ball indicators at the top of the game board so if you play with no sound it takes time to figure out if you've got the bonus ### 2/5 — Frustrating *2023-08-18, version 1.0.10* App freezes on and off, which is unacceptable in a timed game. To make matters worse, the score is not counted if above a certain number. Uggh. There is also no choice on which level to play, it is arbitrary. And some of the words are archaic. Other words I have never seen or else the use is inappropriate (example.”wive”) The concept of the game is worth trying to fix the above mentioned issues. ### 3/5 — What happened to this app? *2023-08-01, version 1.0.2* I have never had an issue with this app until I updated it a few days ago. Unfortunately, it doesn't work on Apple devices. On both my iPhone or iPad it freezes/locks up within 30 seconds of starting. I'm guessing it's the numerous new video ads not loading correctly. ### 2/5 — Love it and hate it *2022-07-04, version 1.0* The game is addictive, but it freezes for 10 seconds at a time, and sometimes multiple times during game play. Also, any score over 500 and I don’t appear on the leaderboard at all. Not sure if it’s just an Apple issue as mentioned by someone else. Now it is awful and clearly a cash grab. They limit how many games you can play but will start your game and count it when there are only 2 seconds left in the game. Not really fair to count it when I didn’t really get to play. The price is too high for a word game. Not worth it for the $ and the free version is terrible. Don’t waste your time. ### 1/5 — I can’t play the game. *2025-06-11, version 1.0.11* When I first logged in, I had to watch videos to get tickets to play the game, which I really didn’t mind, but it’ll just be easier if it already had some tickets available. After watching those videos for tickets, I couldn’t even play the game. Everytime I would click “join” it will just show me the Home Screen over and over. A couple of times it's seems like maybe I was credited (8/5 games available) but after the first game the bonus games vanished. Not sure if the app is still being maintained but I sure hope so! ### 4/5 — Addictive! *2022-03-09, version 1.0* The game has one bug on iOS that is easily worked around. In the game settings, doable all sounds except for one or two. If you don’t, the game will hang for 5 to 10 seconds periodically and is very annoying. It’s one of the most addictive and fun word games i’ve ever played BUT where it loses stars for me is the fact that I pay ($2 weekly) for premium but every other day it acts as if i’m not subscribed and will limit me to the free version where you only have 5 “tickets”. Meaning I can only play my favorite game for about 5 minutes until I’m done for the day. It’s very annoying, even deleting and reinstalling doesn’t help as well. Whenever premium does work though, it’s very fun. Other nit-picks I have is that not many people play so the leaderboards are small and user’s taglines are 9 times out of 10 awkwardly political. No way! *2023-10-02, version 1.0.11* I’ve enjoyed this game for years and I wouldn’t mind paying something for it but it just went from free with ads across the bottom to $50 a year! No way! Previous review: Loved this game in android, not so much on Apple. This game worked flawlessly on android and on my Kindle, it looks a lot glitzier or an iPhone, but the looks are really deceiving. Very often my scores are not included in the final score tally at the end. I have to close the app and restart it and sometimes restart my Wi-Fi and then it will recognize my games. And it usually happens when I have a particularly high score. Additionally there’s functionality in the android version that is not present in this version.
