### 4/5 — Fun word game

*2025-07-03, version 1.7*

I’m enjoying this game a lot once I got the hang of it.

### 4/5 — More clues needed!

*2024-04-28, version 1.7*

Very challenging. I would like to see some more clue opportunities as some of the answers are not well known.

### 3/5 — Needs an Editor

*2021-06-17*

PennyPress called this ‘Syllacrostix’ I believe . Loved the game as a child, due to wonderful shared experiences of word puzzles with my mother. This seems to be the only version out there!

Though the words are not divided into etymological syllables, the spelling challenge remains.

As with all word game apps, there are ‘alternative’ spellings, ‘new’ definitions, with a hefty dose of subject/verb disagreements and syntax errors, just to keep you on your toes.

Plus, those damned in-app purchases for additional puzzles. Sooooo 2014…

### 4/5 — Pretty good

*2021-05-09, version 1.7*

Pretty good

### 5/5 — Addictive pleasure

*2020-12-03, version 1.7*

A real challenge and a delight

### 4/5 — Jay

*2020-10-09*

Really tough and fun. Some of the answers I get right away - the answer is in the clue! I roll my eyes when I finally get a “simple” answer. But others I have never heard of. And I can’t find the answer in any crossword puzzle clue site. So I use a hint, get that answer, so I can finish that board.

### 5/5 — Fun and a challenge!!!

*2020-09-19, version 1.7*

I like this game very much. Challenging and fun!!!

### 5/5 — 7 words

*2020-05-22, version 1.7*

Love been playing 4 hours love it love the unusual words some are words I have never heard of before thank you.

### 3/5 — Good

*2020-05-17, version 1.7*

Just started to play. It has potential. Like that you can have word scrambled or regular, because I am great at anagrams

### 5/5 — Fun word game

*2020-04-11, version 1.7*

Sometimes easy, sometimes difficult. Good mix of both.

### 4/5 — Good game

*2020-04-04, version 1.7*

I like the game so far. It’s challenging, but not too difficult.

### 4/5 — Fun word game

*2020-03-27*

You have two options for play. You can choose an anagram or the number of syllables. It isn’t as easy as I thought it would be. Some answers are words I’ve never heard of before and I would like to think I am well read.

### 5/5 — Wordophile

*2020-03-16, version 1.7*

Just started Wordophile a few days ago and I love it!

### 3/5 — Great concept but not much fun

*2020-03-09*

The clues are so specific and oddly phrased that the puzzles are not satisfying. The definitions are expert-level crossword clues, I expect. My crossword dictionary and internet searches gave no help. It becomes more frustrating with each dead puzzle.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Poor quality

*2018-12-26*

This is a good concept for a game, it’s too bad that the creator couldn’t spell or use tenses correctly. Certainly not an app for kids to use to get better at word comprehension! I was willing to overlook a few errors but when I got to the answer “squaw” for “an american indian women” I was done, that usage is crude and considered offensive in modern English. Deleted.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review, after further review that word was removed from the game.

### 2/5 — Add Option To Remove Ads

*2019-04-10, version 1.6*

I really like this game, but I had to delete the app because the ad bar is annoying and distracting to me. Charge a fee to remove the ads, and I'll gladly give you five stars.

### 2/5 — American

*2019-04-07, version 1.6*

I cannot play this game. I am English living in England but the language is American English so many of the words are not familiar spelling.

### 2/5 — So-So

*2019-01-14, version 1.2*

This is a great game in theory, but there are so many errors in it that it’s frustrating. There are misspelled words, clues and words that aren’t in the same tense, etc. If these issues are ever resolved, it’ll be great. Until then, it’s not worth playing past the free level.

### 2/5 — Could be so much better

*2018-12-27, version 1.2*

So many answers are worse than obscure. Many are just wrong, or misspelled. Could you not check a dictionary?

### 2/5 — Fun game BUT...

*2018-12-24, version 1.2*

If you finish the entire first level (Azalea) and don't need any hints, you're penalized by being disallowed to continue unless you pay for hints that aren't needed! I'm done.

### 2/5 — Good game but ...

*2018-11-30, version 1.2*

Where on earth do these clues come from?
“Start abruptly; after 1989”. “Erupt” ???
There’s lots more like this and uncommon spellings like “Slily” for “Slyly”.
Why not use the common spellings ???
But it is a good concept for a game

### 2/5 — Good concept but problems

*2018-11-20*

Some of the clues are misspelled (estemating) and some of the answers are misspelled (it is "crepe" not "crape"), which is a big problem for a spelling-based game. Clues and answers are often not in the same tense, and some of them are just plain wrong.

The concept of this game is really good. It needs some serious revision and proofreading. I'm giving it 2 stars for the cleverness of the concept, otherwise it would have been 1 star for the poor implementation.

**Developer response:** We fixed some typos in the upcoming update. If you have any errors to report, feel free to email us i+ios@yuriy.net and we'll gladly fix them.

### 2/5 — Typo

*2018-11-16, version 1.2*

Azalea, level 14, word 8, should read ‘put a call through’ not ‘though’.
Some of the clues are too simplistic e.g. needing to repeat a cycle = recycle. Not very challenging but will see if it gets better.

### 3/5 — Nice challenge but needs editing

*2024-07-23, version 1.7*

Nice challenge but needs editing

### 5/5 — Love this game..,

*2021-09-03*

I used to sit up nights filling in puzzle books and syllacrostics like this were my favorite. These are not easy as they are not necessarily broken up syllabically. Great job!

### 5/5 — Syllacrostics!

*2021-04-14, version 1.7*

If you love syllacrostics, you will love this game.

### 5/5 — Thinking game

*2021-02-02*

You have to sometimes think outside the box for the answers. I does make you THINK! Very good game nevertheless.
