When you are playing with your letters, sometimes you find a good word to use for your next turn. When your turn comes the app occasionally swaps out your letters and you end up losing a couple that you had and gaining a couple that you did not originally have. It's like you have swapped them yourself, but you haven't! Yesterday I had a 7-letter word ready to go, using a blank tile, only to find that the blank mysteriously disappeared when my turn came! Very annoying!!! Also the dictionary needs updating as words like "vape" not yet allowed. ### 3/5 — Poor Dictionary *2023-09-14* Too many valid words aren’t in the dictionary and there is no mechanism to have this corrected (e.g., boolean, estimand, etc.). ### 3/5 — I am finding *2021-03-13* No one seem to be playing. I like that you can pay a little for no ads. The ad situation in the other word game is super annoying, and requires a monthly subscription to remove ads - no thank you. Also, I play on phone and iPad, phone is fine, but iPad holds old games on it that I cannot delete or play. While I admit, I enjoy the game, it is ridiculous, the "illegal" terms that are acceptable. If "ZEN" isn't allowed, nor American English abbreviations, but medical abbreviations and British slang and abbreviations are, then something is seriously wrong with the structure of this game. ### 1/5 — Unfair site management *2014-07-14* People are more interested in points than playing. Some players sign in under many different names (all sounding similar) and play themselves to advance to the top, while refusing to play with others. Management could install fail safes against this, but apparently don't care about the people that buy the game in good faith...as long as they have their $$. I recommend you save your money and play scrabble at another site. Why doesn't my review show up?! Another unfair practice? Aren't reviews supposed to show good and bad aspects of a game? ### 2/5 — Continues Going Downhill *2026-03-15* Update: Sadly, since my prior review below, it just continues to get worse. Years ago when I first began playing, it was pretty much a five star app, but it just keeps going downhill. It hasn’t been updated in years and it shows. More often than not, when it shows plays have been made and it’s waiting for me, there are no games showing up in the “Your Moves” tab. Even if I close the tab or the app repeatedly, nothing shows up. They’re all still in the “Their Move” tab. Then suddenly they are there another time when I open it and it shows the plays were made numerous minutes to hours prior. Additionally, the algorithms continue to worsen. I have opponents with whom it should be pretty even when it comes to our records but yet they are ridiculously skewed either in favor of me or them. If we were playing the board version there’s no way we’d have the record we have. ______________ It’s really too bad this app seems to have stagnated. I’ve had the paid version for years and now I really only play it because of several friends I play around the world. I’ve grown weary of the obvious cheaters, the rude players and functionally issues. Within the last week or so, I no longer see when it’s my turn to move even though notification settings are still set as they’ve been for years. Also, words not found in dictionary are acceptable. Not sure they care to maintain the app anymore. ### 2/5 — Customer service - on deaf ears! *2024-05-22* I am very disappointed in Jeff Cole. He has not responded to my emails about two serious problems. It has been 2-3 months. The website says 2021. Did he sell out to microsoft? ### 2/5 — Could do better... *2020-05-28* Look at the other reviews: 7 years ago, 5 years ago. Certainly 4 years ago this game was better. The letter draw from the bag no longer seems random, like the algorithm decides early in the game who the winner will be. It’s frustrating. The game is still addictive, but has suffered IMO despite bug fixes, because of some of the other changes that’ve been made. If it doesn’t improve soon, I’m giving it up for a classic Scrabble alternative.
