### 3/5 — Dictionary is lacking

*2026-08-06, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

The game is very fun, but the fun often comes crashing down when met with the poor dictionary used, along with its censoring of various words. The game starts to become less about making a word and more about anticipating whether the word will be accepted. A built in method of submitting words for review and possible addition would help.

Yesterday, the game refused the word “bondage” which appears over 30 times in the King James Bible. But apparently that’s too sexual for the developers.

### 4/5 — Umverkelbravo

*2026-05-10, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

Need 2 practice

### 4/5 — 🫤

*2025-12-20, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

It’s fun and what I payed for (not really, it’s free) but gets boring. Wish it had more to it.

### 4/5 — Just one thing

*2025-10-04, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

An entertaining game that would be enhanced by the inclusion of an undo button. The number of times things have been going swimmingly only for me to accidentally add the wrong letter to a word that I’m trying to build. I do suffer from ‘sausage fingers’ like our king, Charles III (God save him!) and including such an option, even if it was limited to prevent shenanigans, would eleviate unnecessary frustration.

### 3/5 — What happened to the daily challenge results?

*2025-09-23, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

Great update to one of my favorite games - but the daily challenge rankings only show the current day. Yesterday I was in the top spot, but I don’t know if I ended up at #1 or slipped. Why did that go away?

For the daily challenge, it would really be really cool to see what the top word was from the previous day, that’s what we’re here for -to learn, right?

### 4/5 — Great word game

*2025-08-29, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

I was completely addicted to WiP for a long time and only recently lost interest. It provided many hours of entertainment and brain stimulation. 😊

### 4/5 — AWESOME but something is inappropriate

*2025-08-02, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

It’s cuss words we need to get them out of the game but otherwise T’S AWESOME

### 3/5 — Worker great until it didn’t

*2025-07-22, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

Loved this game. Played it for months, now it won’t get past the opening screen. I’ve deleted it and redownloaded it several times. Still broken. Downloaded a different arcade game and it’s working just fine. Not sure what’s wrong with this one.

### 2/5 — Letters won’t move

*2025-04-21, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

I love this game. I constantly play it. It jerks mt brain smart, until the letters refuse to stay moved next to each other.,They automatically jump back in the vertices line the minute they are selected. I think I’ll delete it

### 4/5 — Addicting! Let me learn though

*2025-04-18*

I love this game, I play several times a day. It’s a quick easy break when I need to reset my brain. Two improvements I would love to see;
-I would like to see who I am playing against. After playing a hundreds of games I tend to have the same opponents, but I can’t see who I’m playing until the game is over or unless I force quit and restart.

For the daily challenge, it would really be really cool to see what the top word was from the previous day, that’s what we’re here for -to learn, right?

**Developer response:** Hi! Thank you for your newly edited review. Some good input again! I'll briefly address your points:

1. You can see who you are playing against in the overview within the Multiplayer screen, but that does require you to go back to that specific screen, which might not be ideal while you are currently in a game. I'll add your suggestion to our player input sheet.

2. We have received lots of good player requests to improve the Daily Challenge and yours is also appreciated. We are currently mapping out if and how we want to improve the Daily Challenge and I will take your feedback into account as well.

We are currently working hard on something totally different for Words in Progress though, so the Daily (unfortunately) has to wait a bit. So stay tuned for the upcoming months!

Thank you again for your longtime support! Cheers!

### 4/5 — UNDO BUTTON

*2025-04-09, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

I love this game but please please please allow players to undo at least once per round. So many times I’ve accidentally moved a letter and it messes up my whole game.

### 2/5 — Constant server / iCloud issues ruin it

*2025-02-25, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

A fun game ruined by game resetting regularly due to server issues

### 3/5 — Ok, needs work

*2025-02-19, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

The game is fun at first but then the cracks start to show a bit. The user interface is not great and the number of times that I’ve misclicked and messed my whole game up is high. Maybe a one letter undo feature at least would be beneficial. I also find that the letter selection is too much of the same all the time and not enough variety leading to boring games. It has potential but just needs some polishing.

### 4/5 — Westernisations

*2025-01-28, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

Just try to spell that word every game and it defeats most players. 200+ points if you do it right. Even more for “westernizations”.

Regarding undo: rather than confirming each merge, what if you had an option to undo but where you had to request the next tile? If there’s already an unrequested tile, merging again gives you the previously unrequested tile. This would allow a single undo without revealing the next letter and might be less jarring than confirming each merge.

### 3/5 — SO many words are not in their dictionary

*2025-01-25, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

I have to spend far too much time checking to see if the word I want to construct is actually in the game dictionary.

### 2/5 — Update: Must abandon this game

*2025-01-18, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

This word game is fun, satisfying, addictive, but it is easy for a finger to slip a bit and a mistaken drag of a letter can’t be reversed. Frustrating to have this flaw in such a good game.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — The Real Opponent

*2026-05-16, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

It becomes obvious that you will not receive the letters you desperately need in order to complete a high-scoring word, because your real opponent is the programming that punishes you for creating a high scoring multi-letter word before you are required to do so. For example, if you simply need a “g” to complete “repeating”, you will receive multiple “I”s but no “g”. That’s fine, and it becomes the strategy to not reveal your intentions too early, but it’s just not my cup of meat.

### 1/5 — Settings? How turn off sound?

*2025-12-10, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

Settings? Where are the settings? The sounds are annoying, and I could not find a way to turn off the sound with this app. Also game seems very boring,

### 1/5 — Really hard

*2025-11-03, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

1/5

### 1/5 — Carrect me if I’m wrong here.

*2025-10-07, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

Word games dealing with the English language should be accurate and carrect. If they aren’t then what’s the point?

### 1/5 — Can’t shut the musac off!

*2025-07-02, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

Awful

### 1/5 — Makes no sense.

*2025-05-23, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

Confusing and even in the tutorial, it doesn’t make any sense in what order letters combine in. Frustrating experience not worth the time.

### 1/5 — Hard

*2025-01-10, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

It is too hard to go back to a game once left.

### 1/5 — No prefixes or suffixes?

*2024-11-25, version 2022.1.4*

Weird rules that can’t possibly be real. No words with prefixes or suffixes? Also I felt a bit insulted with the way it said only family friendly words would be accepted as though I had tried to input something offensive. Rubbish non-game.

### 1/5 — Interesting concept but poor dictionary

*2024-07-31, version 2022.1.3 (1.3.4)*

Could be really good but it rejects words that are real words so what’s the point in playing?

### 1/5 — Way too many repeat letters

*2024-07-18, version 2022.1.3 (1.3.4)*

I started over so many times and kept getting repeat letters. One time I had 3 “t” and 2 “i” tiles and a random spare. I maneuvered the repeat tiles around so I could make space for more AND GOT MORE “t” and “i” TILES?!? There should be a better pool of tiles and less repeats.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fonts suggestion

*2026-07-23, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

I am obsessed… trying to get used to playing looking up and down vs letters being horizontal… but besides that… I’ve confused the I (i) with the l ( see even here !!! ) and messed up so many words!!! Please add other font choices!

### 5/5 — Great Time Sink

*2026-04-29, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

And to think, my vocabulary increases proportional to my frustration.

### 5/5 — Fun unique game

*2025-11-02, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

Fun unique game for those who enjoy word games.

### 5/5 — words in progress

*2025-07-13, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

this game is brilliant for kids who are under the age of 20. but not for children who are under the age 4. thi is a good game, because you can make lots and lots of different words using the tiles you are given. I recommend people to play this game, because it is a lot of fun and laughter.

### 5/5 — Very clever and addictive

*2025-03-28, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

I’ve been avidly playing endless mode for weeks - I love the challenge of building extremely long words and using blank tiles strategically. The new ‘word lookup’ feature is very much appreciated. Many thanks to the devs, not only for the improvements to an already great game but for being so helpful in their replies to my inquiries!

### 5/5 — Makes you think!

*2025-02-05, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

This is a super fun game! You can play with others, or solo.

### 5/5 — Great game!

*2025-01-27, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

I spend a lot of time playing this game.

It would be great if there was a Welsh version!

Is there a way that people can cheat? There is one player that uses the word Westernisations every time I play them for 120 points. It messes with my stats!

### 5/5 — Nice game

*2024-12-24, version 2022.1.5 (1.5.0)*

Pretty good game I keeps you entertained and it challenges you as well.

### 5/5 — Very clever and addictive

*2024-11-03, version 2022.1.4*

I’ve been avidly playing endless mode for weeks - I love the challenge of building extremely long words and using blank tiles strategically.

The new ‘word lookup’ feature is very much appreciated, as I’ve had the unfortunate experience of building a Scrabble-valid 14-letter word, only to find out when playing the last letter that it wasn’t valid for this game.

Thanks to the devs for the improvements to an already great game!

### 5/5 — Good Brain Exercise

*2024-08-04, version 2022.1.3 (1.3.4)*

I like this Scrabble-type game because it keeps my brain alert and it’s fun creating the longest word possible. There is a learning curve because the letters you receive are a gamble. You might end up with all vowels at the end so you learn how to build partial words then connect them together but always leaving your options open for the remaining letters. I like the random opponent game and afterwards when looking at the score I also look at the words the other player created to expand my vocabulary. The game includes wild cards but it will make up a different word than what you had in your mind. You still earn points when submitting it but you have no idea what the word means! It’s a fun game and is challenging but it’s not time consuming unless you can’t walk away from the opponent challenge. I play this game through my Apple Arcade subscription so it’s not looking for all your money like other games. Give it a try!
