WHY THIS EXISTS
The Factbook was published for decades, but no combined, structured database of all its editions ever existed - each year stood alone, in changing formats. When publication ended, this project parsed every edition from 1990 onward (Project Gutenberg texts, archived HTML, JSON snapshots) into one unified, queryable archive - first as the worldfactbookarchive.org website, now as this app.

DATA INTEGRITY
No Factbook content is added or altered. The raw text of every edition was structured into queryable fields, but the data values are exactly as published. Full methodology, sources, and validation are documented openly, and the complete raw dataset is published at github.com/MilkMp/CIA-World-Factbooks-Archive-1990-2025.

Truly offline: the entire 36-year dataset ships inside the app. Nothing is downloaded, nothing is tracked, and no account is needed.

This is the official companion app of worldfactbookarchive.org, built and maintained by the same developer.

The World Factbook is a work of the United States Government in the public domain. This app and website are an independent archive and are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Central Intelligence Agency.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2.2 — 2026-07-05

1.2.2 is a quick fix-up:

- Tapping countries on the 3D Globe works again — select any country to see its details, political systems, and trade-network arcs.
- The World Map title is no longer cut off.

Everything stays fully offline — no account, no network.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-06-20

1.1.1 polishes the maps, charts, and games — and makes the whole app more accessible.

MAPS & GLOBE
- Higher-fidelity world map plus every small country now appears (Malta, Singapore, Vatican, and more); French Guiana is labelled correctly.
- Ocean and sea names for context; trade-network arcs are now colour-coded per partner.
- Smooth year scrubbing (no more flicker), a quick "jump to edition" picker, and a reset-to-default button.

CHARTS & TABLES (ACCESSIBILITY)
- Every chart has a "Show data" button that opens the numbers as an accessible, sortable table you can copy or share.
- VoiceOver reads a one-line chart summary, each row as a whole, and a text version of the sparklines.
- Field history now groups unchanged editions into year ranges, so it's the story of what changed.

GAMES
- Mystery Country now shows a real globe — continents, oceans, your guesses, and the answer.

IMPROVED
- Jump-to-top/bottom on every page (now a subtle, embedded control).
- Many readability and layout fixes throughout.

Everything stays fully offline — no account, no network.

### 1.0.0 — 2026-06-15
