### 3/5 — Don’t do the Silk Road

*2025-03-10, version 2.2.0*

I was really looking forward to this one. It’s about 10000km in all and obvs one of the good things about some of the walks in the app are the pictures you can see on the way. Not on this walk though. All of China blotted out and further on too. Now if they had told me that before I started, I wouldn’t have bothered. A real letdown!

### 3/5 — A bit disappointed

*2024-03-19, version 2.2.0*

I really wish this would link with my garmin and not just Fitbit and Apple health. I have an iPhone, but Garmin and Apple Health don’t sync quite properly. I’m not a fan of having to go in at the end of the day and enter in all of my steps or kilometers.

### 2/5 — So Much Potential

*2024-02-26*

This app has so much potential, but it needs some work. It does not allow editing of entries, so if you make a mistake entering your steps or distance you are stuck with it. Also, the map doesn’t show where you are at in the course, so it isn’t very motivating. This has the potential to be a 5 star app, but it needs a little work.

### 3/5 — Keep getting logged out

*2023-09-26, version 2.2.0*

Since the update that eliminated Facebook login, I keep getting logged out. Tired of having to keep having to log back in. Will delete soon if it keeps happening.

### 2/5 — Complicated

*2023-05-08, version 2.2.0*

Only records steps from my iPhone and doesn’t include any steps done recorded by my Apple Watch. So every day I need to manually add in steps, to account for those it hasn’t counted. Usually I add them in the next day (as so far I keep forgetting) so it then messes up that day!! Making it hard then to work out how many extra steps I need to add in that day!!

### 4/5 — Add Apple Watch Support

*2023-04-20, version 2.2.0*

Loved the app but switched from Fitbit to Apple Watch and was sad to realize that World Walking doesn’t work with Apple Watch. Please add support for Apple Watch. I had over 47 million steps.

### 2/5 — Confusing

*2022-11-03*

For an app that is about counting steps, this requires too many steps to use. My attempt to bank, spend and add steps resulted in steps being counted twice. Something like this should be highly intuitive to use. I don’t want to mess with multiple clicks just to see how far I’ve gotten along a virtual route. Second star is only for the nice selection of routes.

### 3/5 — Screen Overlap/Display Issues

*2022-09-30, version 2.1.25*

It often has aspects of the screen overlapping so I can’t click buttons or navigate properly. The keyboard will often stay open, blocking access to options as well. Feels clunky.

### 2/5 — A bit disappointed.

*2021-09-17, version 2.1.25*

I love the idea of this app and love the idea of having a group as I walk regularly with my family but it crashed at our first walks milestone and hasn’t worked since. Lot of work to set up and now not working. Bit gutted as until that point, it was perfect.

### 3/5 — Tweaks needed

*2021-07-02, version 2.1.25*

Really good idea for app, However it will not sync to Fitbit so having to remember to manually add steps is a pain, also a bit complicated to get started, the ones o. The Fitbit are more straightforward and user friendly,

### 2/5 — Stopped working

*2021-05-31, version 2.1.23*

I loved the idea of this app but it randomly stopped syncing with my Fitbit app so I can’t track my steps.

### 3/5 — Love the idea

*2021-03-12*

I like how you can view trails or other cities. I just wish you could get notifications that you reach the next landmark or know how many steps to add to get to the next landmark.

The hassle of sliding until you get to the landmark is a hassle especially if the app crashes.

### 3/5 — Nice idea

*2020-05-07, version 2.1.15*

Would be better if there was an auto allocation of your steps to the walk instead of having to manually allocate steps (which is several steps in itself- select banked steps, select the walk, slide the slider, confirm that you want to add this amount of steps). Surely that could be a setting- auto allocate to one walk, %split for more than one, manual?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — If only I could log in!

*2026-01-03*

If I could log in, I bet this would be a great app!

### 1/5 — Not what I was expecting

*2025-04-21*

You have to manually log the steps; map does not show where you are with distance logged. What is the point? Delete!

### 1/5 — Skibi

*2024-03-05, version 2.2.0*

Not good enough

### 1/5 — Good idea, bad execution

*2023-09-22, version 2.2.0*

I’ve had this app for years and still can’t actually work out how to use it properly. The whole UI is just confusing.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2022-01-23, version 2.1.25*

Nothing about this is straightforward. I was so looking forward to my walking challenge and due to the confusion this app causes, I have absolutely no idea how far I have walked. The banking distance makes zero sense and does not add to your walk and I’m just done trying to make sense of it now. Absolutely would not recommend.

### 1/5 — Stopped syncing with fitbit

*2021-06-01, version 2.1.23*

The app just stopped banking steps from my fitbit 2 days ago. I disconnected then reconncted the app with my fitbit but nothing happened.

### 1/5 — Poor App

*2021-04-05, version 2.1.20*

Not self explanatory. Too much back and forth to sort out a group, add a walk, see who is leading in the steps for that walk. Good job it’s free as I wouldn’t pay!!

### 1/5 — Great idea, app doesn’t work though

*2020-08-01*

So sad, because this is such a cool idea. The maps don’t update when you add your steps though, which pretty much defeats the purpose.

### 1/5 — No garmin option

*2018-02-21*

Doesn’t work with garmin.

### 1/5 — May updates

*2016-06-04*

May updates completely ruined what was a fun easy to use app. Only gave it one star because zero wasn't an option. Deleted.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great idea, if used correctly

*2023-05-08, version 2.2.0*

This app lets you bank steps collected by your fitness tracker to take a virtual walk. It's fun to check in on an evening and see where your steps have taken you today, but that experience depends a lot on which walk you choose to do. The app approximates your location based on milestones, so on a walk like the Italian Lakes, which has short milestones and full Street View support, you can bank steps, then go and see what the view is like from where you are; but a walk like Hispaniola has very sparse milestones and no Street View support so banking steps often feels like it doesn't do anything. There are a lot of walks offered, but some of them, like the Australia circumnavigation walk, seem geared towards teams, and the search function only lets you filter by name and by distance in 15,000km units.

It would be nice if future versions offered the ability to set one walk to automatically bank steps rather than the default being to split them, and be able to see interesting views from earlier in the walk rather than just our current location.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2022-05-31, version 2.1.25*

Simple app that does what I need it to. You walk a bit then add your banked steps to whichever ‘walk’ you choose.

I started with a Dorset coast walk which I completed quite quickly and now I’m doing John O’Groats to Lands End which is quite a bit longer. Seeing my progress on the map is motivating me to walk a bit more each day.

### 5/5 — Love

*2022-04-20*

For someone who doesn’t have a lot of money to travel, this is perfect. It enables me to see places (virtually) that I otherwise wouldn’t see. The only thing I would like to see improved is adding other modes of travel since I don’t walk a lot so it takes me FOREVER to get through a walk. Other than that i love this app.

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2022-01-09, version 2.1.25*

Most apps like these require a fee of some sort, and I can’t believe this is FREE. It’s amazing. Definitely a motivation to get more steps in 2022!

### 5/5 — Well designed

*2021-03-08, version 2.1.20*

Works like a charm

### 5/5 — Makes Walking More Interesting

*2021-03-02, version 2.1.20*

So nice to find a walking app that’s actually free to use! So many say free, but then you discover that you need to subscribe to use them, so this app is wonderful. I’ve done a few small walks, around famous cities, and it’s lovely reaching the landmarks and being able to read all about them. I’m just about to start my first “big” walk, taking in the wonders of ancient Egypt. I definitely think this encourages me to walk more, I’m mobility impaired so I need all the encouragement I can get! Thank you to the developers for this fab app, and for keeping it free to use!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-02-03, version 2.1.20*

Simple and fun. Really nice little app and the support is first rate, can’t fault in any way!

### 5/5 — Great app - map updates at intersections

*2020-07-26*

I really loving this app! Great tracking, lots of fun walks from a quick walk around the city to literally the whole world. I’m motivated and have some friends who wanted to join up too.

It looked like my map was stuck at one point. Per the developer, the map doesn’t have every point linked; it has checkpoints at intersections so if you’re on a long straight path it might not change until you hit the end of it. Once I logged enough steps the map the view jumped to show my progress.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2020-06-28, version 2.1.19*

Great app

### 5/5 — Fun game and Very responsive customer service

*2017-12-05*

The game is a fun little way for an online group to discover the world together. In our group we hit a bit of a snag when an admin was having log in problems. Duncan from World Walking was very responsive and helped us fix our problem.
