## What is WorthBook?

Your lucky cat for building wealth.

WorthBook brings everyday bookkeeping and net worth tracking into one app. Set up Shortcuts to record supported Apple Pay purchases at shops, or scan other payment screenshots and review before saving.

CHOOSE THE AUTO-LOG METHOD FOR YOUR IPHONE
• iOS 17 or later: use a Wallet automation in Shortcuts to record at-shop Apple Pay taps that supply an amount
• iOS 27 or later: read payments, money received and refunds from supported notifications of the payment apps you select; those notifications must be enabled
• Settings → Auto-log Apple Pay shows the appropriate setup, notification shortcut and last automation run
• Duplicate reports from different sources are checked using amount, currency, merchant and time

Auto-log requires Shortcuts setup and the necessary permissions. Recognition depends on the information supplied by the transaction or notification. Auto payments are kept locally and sync to Ledger when you open WorthBook. They are not linked to an account by default and can be edited later.

SPENDING AND NET WORTH TOGETHER
• Track income, expenses, categories and cash flow
• Keep cash, bank accounts, investments, property, crypto and debts in view
• Manage multiple currencies using exchange rates you set
• Read net worth history, allocation, growth and milestones
• Link manual or reviewed screenshot entries to an account to update its balance

SCAN, CHECK, SAVE
Read the amount, date, merchant and category from a payment screenshot. Check or edit the details before saving. Screenshot recognition happens on your phone; images are not uploaded.

KEEP YOUR DATA ON YOUR PHONE
No sign-up and no ads. Use biometric locking and privacy mode, export a JSON backup, import CSV files and keep separate books for personal or family finances.

Available in English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese, with light and dark themes.

No bank login is required. Start with the demo data, then build your own book.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6.1 — 2026-10-31

Categories of your own, and auto-log you can review

• New: add your own income and spending categories, each with a name and an emoji. Tap New at the end of the categories in the ledger, or go to Settings > Categories to rename or delete them
• New: Review before saving. Turn it on in Settings > Auto-log, and auto-logged payments wait on the Ledger page until you pick a category and account
• Choosing an account is easier: accounts are grouped, each with its balance, and the ones you used last come first
• Fixed: an Octopus payment in Wallet could be logged at the card's new balance when the balance was negative. Auto-log now never reads a balance as the payment

Everything is worked out on your phone. No account, no tracking.

### 1.6 — 2026-10-30

Categories of your own, and auto-log you can review

• New: add your own income and spending categories, each with a name and an emoji. Tap New at the end of the categories in the ledger, or go to Settings > Categories to rename or delete them. Deleting one moves its entries to Other
• New: Review before saving. Turn it on in Settings > Auto-log, and auto-logged payments wait on the Ledger page until you pick a category and account. Change a category once and the next payment from that shop follows
• Choosing an account is easier: accounts are grouped into cash and bank, cards, investments, loans and others, each with its balance, and the ones you used last come first
• Your categories are in Insights, share cards, backups and sync

Everything is worked out on your phone. No account, no tracking.

### 1.5.2 — 2026-10-25

Mortgages that keep themselves up to date, with prime-based rates

• New: mortgage accounts. Add the amount, term, rate and first payment date, and WorthBook works out the monthly payment, splits it into principal and interest, and updates the balance on each payment date. Earlier payments are filled in for you, so the history starts when the loan did. Prefer to update it yourself? Switch to Manual
• Prime-based mortgages: pick your bank or enter your own prime rate, and enter Prime minus x%. Each installment uses the prime rate of its time. The banks' rates are built in, no internet needed
• Rate changed? Tap Change rate or Change plan on the mortgage card to see the new monthly payment first
• The mortgage calculator counts a cash rebate, as a percentage or an amount, and shows the interest and the effective rate after it
• Link a mortgage to its property to see your equity and how much of the home you own
• Lucky cat share cards: make a card for your net worth, spending, savings rate or asset mix from Insights > Records & milestones. The cat's face follows how the month went, with a cheeky line to match. Percentages only unless you turn amounts on
• Tap the lucky cat on Home to drop a coin. Coins rain down when you log income, and the cat tosses money away when you log spending
• Smarter auto-log: topping up an Octopus with a credit card is no longer logged as spending; bank offers quoting amounts like HK$50K are skipped; money received ("Received $50.00") is logged as income; change an entry's category and the next payment from that shop follows
• Fixes: a liability can go back to a positive balance and its old category; a balance you enter always takes effect; renaming an account no longer changes its history; net worth shows cents like the totals beside it; reminders tell you when notifications are off

Everything is worked out on your phone. Mortgage accounts are free for everyone. No account, no tracking.

### 1.5.1 — 2026-10-21

Payments abroad keep their currency, and exchange rates update themselves

• Pay in baht, won, yen and more: auto-log and screenshot scan keep the currency and convert totals to your main one. 20 main currencies are built in
• Exchange rates now follow the market: they update when you open WorthBook, sending only your main currency's code. Prefer your own rates? Turn it off in Settings > Currency
• Topping up an Octopus from a bank card is no longer logged as spending; paying with your Octopus still is
• Abroad, auto-log keeps the shop's name from Wallet's notifications
• More reliable notification auto-log: fewer offers mistaken for payments, and one payment is never logged twice
• iOS 27: Settings > Auto-log has a short walkthrough video. On iOS 26 or earlier it shows the setup that works on your iPhone

Payments are handled on your phone only — nothing is uploaded. No account, no cloud, no tracking.

### 1.5 — 2026-10-16

WorthBook 1.5: Less typing, easier tracking

• Apple Pay auto-logging: Set up a Shortcuts automation to record supported in-store payments, including the amount, merchant and category. Requires iOS 17 or later and a transaction that provides an amount.
• Notification logging: On iOS 27 or later, use Shortcuts to capture payments, incoming transfers and refunds from supported payment app notifications.
• Duplicate detection: Reports of the same payment from different sources are checked using the amount, currency, merchant and time.
• Setup instructions are now grouped by iOS version.
• Scrub the Home net worth chart to explore historical values, with smoother range changes and ledger animations.

Payment details are processed on your device. Automatic entries appear in the ledger when you open WorthBook and are not linked to an account by default. You can edit them at any time.
