In doing so many other layers are revealed, which WOT has been able to detect/identify. It’s with confidence that unexpected WARNINGS appear, just proving that ‘WOT has you covered’. As the negative sides of ID theft, phishing, Anti-Fraud, Hacking, etc is growing globally | WOT should have users covered! ### 4/5 — Intermittent *2025-03-11, version 4.8.3* My ability to scan for identity theft protection is not always available, going for as long as three days sometimes before it is available ### 4/5 — Automatically turns on *2024-12-17* When ever I disconnect the VPN it also disconnects my internet. Then after a few seconds it reconnects both my VPN and my internet. I recommend wot to my friends and family. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars which I rarely ever do , is there is no contact info for wot on their app for data breaches and identity theft in case I needed to talk to someone about it. Now ( maybe because Manufacturer of phone does not like what I wrote?) is no longer viable. We paid the premium price for yearly sunscibtion. Please WOT help! Should I delete the App and then reinstall. Until major security problems pop up on your device you will never understand how frustrating this all is. Has WOT been hacked? They have been calling for at least 2 months and that is a low ball. I have turned into spam, gov/ spam over and over. We're happy to help! ### 1/5 — We rule the day we signed up for this app. *2024-04-02* This is no security app. Not only do they sell your private information to third parties and those third-party sell your private information to other parties but Apple is unable to help you by seeing your phone because of the virtual private network. The VPN. From my many discussions with Apple these types of security even the very expensive ones sell your information to third parties and identity theft is all the rage. I kept asking for a receipt last year and stupidly signed up for this year again by double clicking and WOT support keeps sending you the same message over and over and over again. It says here's your ticket number and please type your request above the message that we sent. We tried that about 15 times and all we got was another request for information. Another commentary about this app mention the virtual private network. The VPN means this so-called security app has access to everything on your phone. So that's what you get when you sign up for their premium service. You get extra premium leaks of data and selling and sharing your information because that's how they make their money. I don't work in Silicon Valley but I would advise anyone to completely delete this app. I could go on but I think I've written enough. I sent them the information I wanted and they keep sending the same thing now. They claim that is not a computer answering me then it must be a person that doesn't understand anything. According to Apple I have leaks on my phone but according to WOT THERE ARE NO LEAKS ON MY HACKED EMAIL OR SEVERAL OTHER SITES. I agree about the VPN. Why is it there and why do they need it and why can't they explain why they need it to us their premium customers? Happy to assist :) ### 1/5 — Screws up the battery! *2022-01-17* My iPhone battery simply would not charge beyond 70%. I deleted the WOT app and the battery charged to 100% within 30 minutes. Благо использую двойную защиту ещё и по смс, взлом удалось предотвратить. ### 1/5 — Disturbing pattern - uninstalled itp *2020-06-13* Consistently targets site links referred from trusted news sources like the NYTimes and The Guardian. Either legitimate sites are being rated poorly by bad actors and WOT is doing a bad job of monitoring its ratings system, or, WOT has been compromised and is no longer trustworthy. Beyond that, also highly disturbing is the change in their system in IOS browsers from a user friendly mode where you were able to do searches and scroll through the list to see what sites were flagged BEFORE you clicked on them. Now the VPN they ask you to install requires an invasion of privacy into your phone’s network that now only alerts you AFTER you click on a bad site. Bad design and maybe worse than that. Don’t get. ### 1/5 — Didn’t work *2020-04-19* To anyone reading this review: Do not install this. The lack of transparency here is absolutely disgusting. In the description does it say anything about a VPN? No! How about HAVING to enable notifications? No! And it crashed when I said no to notifications, it crashed when I tried to use the scorecard. And I couldn’t even access the browser. Makes you think WOT is up to something. They are probably a million thieves trying to infiltrate personal data from my perspective. If you already got the app, delete it IDDMIEDIATLEY. So the person who created this obviously has ulterior motives, and let me tell you, your not being “discreet“ ### 1/5 — VPN confused *2020-02-25* In a review for this WOT app by B-Drums he questions your omission of any information about your VPN; you replied for B-Drums to contact you and added, "we'll add it to the description to make it more clear." Your reply was in August of 2019 and it's February 2020 and I cannot find 'VPN' anywhere in your description! I use WOT as a extension on my Google Chrome browser and I don't have to use a VPN to use the extension. Why is this? Why haven't you mentioned anything to do with a VPN in your description of the app? Why not give the reason and information about why, "WOT would like to add (more like MUST add) VPN configuration" to make the app work? Web Of Trust is your name, how can I trust you if you refuse to give all the information in your description about your product? I'm actually shocked in your lack of transparency. ### 1/5 — Worst app ever *2019-09-27* This might be worst app I ever used. It used up over 2.5 GB of my data plan on iPad within 5 days. It also identified virtually every site including major news organizations as bad sites so worthless as far as actually identifying risks. App effectively cost me $30 in data use.
