Wots (Word on the Street) for Residents is an app that let's you report issues directly to the police department. When you call in an issue to the police department, information is second or even third hand by the time the responding officer receives the complaint. Wots sends issues directly to available responding law enforcement officers, by pinpionting the precise location of the issue and allowing you to give pictures and detailed descriptions. Moreover Wots let's you know when the officer is on the way and when the issue has been closed. Currently available only in Jersey City, NJ. As of late, I have been having a lot of success with getting issues resolved, such as blocking my driveway and blocking fire hydrants. If you were going to use this app for the above issues, you just have to make sure that the department for parking enforcement is open at the time. Otherwise you’d have to call the after hours non emergency line for the police. But I have been pleased thus far. I’ve reported people for illegal parking and I’ve seen them get tickets from this app. But the app is very buggy and sometimes you have to submit the same ticket multiple times for it to go through and you don’t get a notification that an officer responded. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t even load *2025-10-24, version 1.8* I can’t even get past the phone verification page. I tap “Next” it sends the code to my phone and then just stays on the same page. I tap “Next” again and it just sends another code and repeats the cycle.
