By God, it’s able to play the advertisement they want you to listen to but then does not stream the live feed. ### 1/5 — Not working *2022-05-31, version 3.0.0* This app has gone from bad to worse. The app stoops playing constantly. When you downsize the app or open another app it stops playing. This use to be the 50,000 watts station and now you can’t hear the FM or AM 5 miles out of town and the app is unreliable. I want to listen to your radio station. Don’t bother downloading it; listen online through the website instead. The most recent update removed news stories from the app and instead redirects you to Facebook, etc. Any time you click the play button, it’ll launch an ad that you have to manually click out of after 10 seconds. If the stream gets interrupted from a phone call or something, you have to go back into the app to begin the stream again; the iPhone controls via the Lock Screen or control center straight up won’t work. ### 1/5 — Why would advertisers pay to be on WOWO app? *2024-01-16, version 4.1.1* I’ve been a lifelong WOWO audience member; but knowing what I know from my glitch-plagued experience using the app, I’d never buy ads on WOWO for my three businesses. The app frequently plays multiple out-of-sync streams of the WOWO broadcast, frequently stops and requires restart for no apparent reason, and plays ads during content streaming in addition to the expected ads during actual commercial breaks. No such problems with ANY of the other radio station and other media audio streaming apps. ### 1/5 — Please fix this app *2023-09-14* I was hoping for improvement after so many concerns about this app constantly shutting down. Explanation: I keep the app open and I do not utilize my phone during this app and it still shuts off. Again, excellent content and I enjoy listening. I’ve listened to WOWO for more than 50 years, Bob Chase, Little Red Barn, etc. I was listening in Canada and Florida before there were cell phones. Today I can’t even get the app to open. I’m witnessing the death of the 50,000 watt blowtorch of the Midwest. Hey WOWO, and advertisers, I’m going to find something else to listen to now. Sad! ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Works great and simple to use! *2018-08-21, version 2.1.1* Open the app and right at the top is a Play button; press it and the stream starts up right away. You can also play on an AppleTV device to listen on a larger sound system. The app also has a list of news headlines that you can read. ### 3/5 — I want to listen *2023-07-24* This app is frustrating. It pauses every 20-45 seconds. I have removed it and reinstalled several times to no avail. I enjoy the content, especially KB. ### 2/5 — Not working *2025-05-27, version 5.2.9* I listen to WOWO all the time, but the app doesn’t work. You would think after 100 years… 😂 ### 2/5 — Initial video add is obnoxious and ruins the app *2024-06-10, version 5.0.0* I like listening to the station but the app has issues with sound loss, especially when the phone switches WiFi sources. A few updates ago, a video add popup started appearing when the apps opens. The adds are obnoxious, usually for stupid phone games, and you have to let them run and then click on a small x in the corner to get to the app. The small x has to be touched just right or you will go to the App Store. If you use this app while driving, the initial add can be distracting and dangerous, otherwise it is just extremely annoying. I don’t mind the timed audio adds that sometimes play before the station audio starts, but the initial video add ruins the app. ### 2/5 — Still flawed *2024-02-26, version 4.1.1* Kayla Blakeslee deserves better. I enjoy her delivery of the morning news but this app has so many issues. ### 2/5 — Frustrating App *2024-01-16* Randomly stops playing. Force close it, restart and eventually repeat. When it does work, I like the app but often get annoyed and just switch to Sirius. ### 2/5 — Frustrating *2024-01-15, version 4.1.1* It's so annoying to have to hear the same commercial EVERY time there is a momentary lapse in using the app. The Big Stick has a tiny, irritating little app. Too bad. ### 2/5 — You have one job… *2023-10-04, version 4.0.0* The purpose of an app is to perform the function it was assigned. All this app has to do is play WOWO and yet it will randomly stop playing. This requires the user to sporadically press the play button again over and over. You’ve got one job. Play the station. Fix this. ### 2/5 — Great content *2022-08-10, version 3.0.0* I love the content and listen to KB every morning but this app has a mind of its own. Consistently shutting down, then won’t reload. KB deserves better, guys. ### 2/5 — Updated: Auto play and no news *2022-01-25, version 3.0.0* Since an update or 2 ago the audio stream plays automatically when you open the app. It can be embarrassingly annoying to have audio play when you really only just wanted to discreetly check the news headlines. Update: The 3.0 upgrade completely removed news and headlines from the app and now it is only about the audio stream. Removing about 1/2 of the usefulness of the app. Before I would use the app to read the headlines and would sometimes listen to the stream. If you want to read WOWO news you have to use the web site and it is far from mobile friendly. The result is I will get much less of my news from WOWO now and will have to find another source to supplement what I would want to follow for unbiased reporting and local news when I don’t want audio but would rather read the news. Also the audio stream auto starts.
