### 3/5 — Only Three Scripts

*2026-06-12, version 7.0.513*

The app works fine and is great but only three scripts is very annoying.

### 4/5 — I mean it’s alright but…

*2026-06-01*

It’s a good app but I wish there was like a search bar so we can type the part that we wanna go back to instead of scrolling. Also it does get pretty laggy like when we scroll and tap at a sentence it lags a bit and it breaks my screen for a second, is there anything you could do to prevent it?

**Developer response:** Thank you for notifying us of these issues! So we can better assist you, please message us at help@writerduet.com from the email on your WriterDuet account. We look forward to hearing from you so we can get this resolved for you ASAP!

### 2/5 — Very strange please update

*2026-05-24*

When I got the app it didn’t give the option of making password it didn’t even give me one. So when I tried to upgrade it to plus I couldn’t access the sight then I checked the sight it crashed signed me out and now I can’t get back. THIS NEEDS TO ABLE TO MAKE MORE THAN ONE ACCOUNT! Please

**Developer response:** Thank you for notifying us of this issue! So we can better assist you, please message us at help@writerduet.com from the email on your WriterDuet account. We look forward to hearing from you so we can get this resolved for you ASAP!

### 2/5 — Great on desktop, but...

*2026-03-23*

The desktop app for Mac and the browser version on Safari are great, but the iPhone app and mobile browser versions are terrible. They are super laggy, they don't update like they supposed to, when you tap on a place where you want the cursor to go, the app jumps to a completely different place in the script, sometimes several pages down...so now you gotta scroll up and try to find where you were putting the cursor, etc. The mobile app and browser versions are almost unusable, which is a shame.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback! It sounds like your script is caching an old version of a line that no longer exists, so the app is getting confused about what page the cursor should be on or what text to enter. Could you try logging into a private or incognito browser window (usually found under your browser's File menu) to see if the same issue reproduces for you there? If things are working in the private/incognito browser and all of your work looks up to date, go back to the mobile app and log out. Logging out will clear your local cache and let you sign back in to a fresh instance of the app! Log back into your account and things should be resolved. If you're still having trouble after taking those steps, would you mind emailing us at help@writerduet.com from the email on your WriterDuet account so we can troubleshoot this further?

### 2/5 — I love the product but am dissatisfied with the app

*2026-03-07*

Writer duet (on my computer) is great and it is a very fair price for the yearly price but I am disappointed by the app. On my computer using a browser writer duet works great but this app on my phone is not good. It does not update my scripts so if I use my computer to write and come on my app later to work on the go it doesn’t update to the cloud version. I just finished writing a 14 page short film script and went to review it on my phone to shortlist and it didn’t update so my phone only shows 6 pages of the script. This issues, on the book I am writing, caused me to lose work in the past. I don’t use the phone app anymore because it is unreliable but this is extremely frustrating because I am paying for a service and not getting the full benefit. Please fix this issue and I will change my review, thank you.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! Syncing issues between devices typically indicate a caching problem. If you log into a private/incognito browser window and all your work looks up to date there, can you go back to your regular browser/app on all of your devices and fully log out via Help > Logout? Logging out will clear your local cache and let you sign back into a fresh instance of the app. If you're still having trouble, please email us at help@writerduet.com from the email on your WriterDuet account and we'd be happy to assist further!

### 2/5 — Language switching is not working on my iPad and iPhone

*2026-01-16, version 7.0.513*

Good program. I want to purchase it, but please fix the switching to other languages!!!

### 4/5 — Good, not perfect

*2026-01-08*

Writing a screenplay, it has made it 1000 times easier to focus on the story rather than formatting. So grateful. It’s not perfect. On iPad at least. But I’ve been able to print it in the exact format as it shows in writer duet. I choose this over final draft pro anytime. It puts it to full shame. Thank you. I never write reviews

### 2/5 — It’s great but-

*2025-12-24, version 7.0.513*

I wrote three scripts on it and now it won’t let me write anymore.

### 4/5 — Cool

*2025-12-01, version 7.0.513*

L’appli est trop bien ! La partie gratuite subvient largement au besoin pour l’écriture de petit script !!!

### 4/5 — Missing 1 essential tool

*2025-08-11*

I love the app. It works great on my iPhone in a pinch. I mostly use on my iPad and I love it so much. Writing is seamless for me. However there is one key feature that’s available on the desktop version that’s not available on the iOS version, and that’s the ability to drag and drop the cards. I hate having to cut and paste cards between sequences or if I need to rearrange scenes seamlessly. If you provided the ability to tap/click and drag the cards on iPhone and iPad, I’d never need my desktop again.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback! Unfortunately, cards currently are not expandable, editable, or moveable on mobile/tablet devices.

That said, we absolutely understand why being able to use cards to rearrange scenes on your iPhone/iPad is valuable to your workflow and have passed this along to our development team to consider when making improvements to the app. While they can't guarantee a specific timeline on when this will be an available option, it's on their radar.

We appreciate your patience and understanding!

### 4/5 — Love the app

*2025-08-10*

I started writing with WriterDuet. But there are some issues that I see with the app. That can affect someone’s writing.

Like for one, when I copy something from another document that I have my story idea in. And I want to paste it within the app on either iPad or iPhone. The app, either a glitches, and then adds extra lines, or B kicks you straight out of the app and adds extra mind that you cannot delete once you exit the app to restart.

In my opinion, that’s just the biggest issue. Because it’s gonna slow us down, especially for trying to write a script.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! This definitely sounds strange.

Can you try logging into a private/incognito browser window to see if this copy/paste issue persists for you there? If not, and if all your work looks up to date there, can you go back to the app on all of your devices and fully log out via Menu > Help > Logout? Logging out will clear your local cache and let you sign back into a fresh instance of the app, hopefully resolving this issue going forward.

If you're still having trouble, please email us at help@writerduet.com from the email on your WriterDuet account and we'd be happy to assist further!

### 3/5 — Buggy but useable

*2025-07-23*

The iPad app is buggy. If they could get it running as smoothly as the desktop version it’d be 5 stars easily. The biggest, and most tedious, thing is that if I scroll down (for example) ten pages to edit a scene, the moment I click on the text I want to edit, the app will jump me 2-3 pages away from where I want to be. This will happen two to three times before it works properly.

### 4/5 — Network

*2025-05-08*

The app is great, but on iPhone the word correcting needs to be corrected. When I write words and I delete them in the iPhone keyboard it shows that it is still written. And also make the WriterDuet work in offline, I had my files that I wanted to import but i DIDNT have internet so I couldn’t make the import and export work for offline.

**Developer response:** Hi Alexandre, thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback! Would you mind sending us a screen-recording of the word correcting issue you're hitting? This will help us determine if we're able to replicate your experience and implement a fix.

Unfortunately, importing/exporting do require an internet connection. That said, once you've imported the file and have it open on your phone, you can disconnect and write offline. For more details on writing offline, check out this article here: https://www.writerduet.com/article/234-write-offline

### 2/5 — No subscriptions please

*2025-05-06, version 7.0.513*

It would be good if it never had any subscriptions

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — I was rooting for you

*2026-07-13*

I love the features on this app so much, I just wish they would work. The app is too glitchy. I don’t know if it’s because it’s a free app or what. I would pay a 1 time subscription if I was convinced that the app would run smoothly. I am not convinced. The app deserves a 5 star rating, but unfortunately it doesn’t work most of the time.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback! We recently made several improvements to the mobile app and will be pushing them live soon. That said, so we can better assist you, could you please message us at help@writerduet.com from the email on your WriterDuet account and provide more details about the glitches you're encountering? We look forward to hearing from you so we can get you back to writing smoothly ASAP!

### 1/5 — Worst experience

*2025-11-02, version 7.0.513*

Every time I downloaded this app same thing happens to me nothing opens simply displays its name. Stupid app

### 1/5 — Bugs and bugs

*2025-10-06, version 7.0.513*

Its full of bugs. I cant type properly. Copy paste wont work properly. Language changing option not working and a lot. I find ms word is far better than and less work comparing the bugs

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2025-08-16, version 7.0.513*

It always messes up when you try to do dialogue.

### 1/5 — Doesn't Work with iOS

*2025-07-28*

Really annoying that the cursor jumps around to the front of the line when I am trying to add something to the end of the line on both my tablet and iphone. I wanted to be able to work on a project with someone using windows/android and while it worked for them, not having my devices made us try to find alternative collaborative screenwriting software.

### 1/5 — Syncing issues

*2025-07-05*

I’ve been reporting this to their support staff for months and they still haven’t fixed it. I’d make changes to my project on my computer, then I’d open the project on my iPhone or iPad via this app and it wouldn’t sync those changes. So I’d basically be working on two different versions of the same script. Do not use the mobile app, just use the desktop website since that’s the only version that syncs properly.

**Developer response:** We appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback and completely understand how important seamless syncing is while writing. Our team has been actively working with you via email support, and we're doing our best to get this resolved for you.

We have shared updated instructions again via email. We encourage you to review those steps at your earliest convenience, as they may help resolve the issue entirely. We are confident this is a caching issue, and if you take the steps we've provided to log out of all devices, you should be good to go. If not, please let us know and we will continue troubleshooting this with you. We're committed to improving your experience on both desktop and mobile!

### 1/5 — Don’t use this app!

*2025-06-09*

I was about a third of the way through a screenplay on the Writer Duet app and then I stopped working on it because I couldn’t figure out where to take the story. While my story languished in cyberspace I lost the email address associated with my Writer Duet account. It was a Comcast email address. That’s a separate story in itself but the bottom line is because I couldn’t use the old email address Writer Duet is refusing to let me access my writing project. They insist the only solution is to reinstate the old address which is impossible to do with Comcast. I’ve offered to send the Writer Duet staff a photo of my drivers license to prove my identity and they won’t accept that. So I guess all the hours I spent on the screenplay was a waste. I’m sure it’s a rare problem but the way they’re refusing to help should scare people away from putting their writing projects at risk on this app.

### 1/5 — Charge For Lifetime Members?

*2025-06-05, version 7.0.513*

I’ve been a lifetime member since 2018. Why can’t I download this app without being charged?

### 1/5 — Never loads

*2025-05-03, version 7.0.513*

App just shows a blank loading screen and never loads, nothing happens. Have deleted and reinstalled and still nothing.

### 1/5 — Simply doesn’t work

*2025-03-24, version 7.0.513*

This app used to function perfectly. Same usability as the website, everything. These days, the interface doesn’t fit with the phone screen so the tools are unusable in portrait view and, for some reason, none of my files from the past few years even load in the ‘Open Files’ tab. It’s really bad. I can barely call it a functioning app. Very annoying, especially as I pay for the premium subscription. Will have to stick to the desktop version, unfortunately. Hope they fix this soon.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The beat

*2026-04-19, version 7.0.513*

I have used this software for years. It is the best. The app sometimes can be a bit glitchy but I gave it 5 stars because it has everything you need and is laid out by far better than any other. The AI voices work amazing! We need more that don’t sound robotic 😂 the glitches never happen on the computer it’s an app thing. Try it out!

### 5/5 — Why do you have to pay

*2025-07-13, version 7.0.513*

I have a question about the app. Why do you only write 3 scripts and then you have to pay? You should have unlimited scripts for each plan! Can you lower the price for the pro, premium and the other one? Some people don’t want to pay for a subscription

### 5/5 — fantastic app

*2025-06-19, version 7.0.513*

Certainly underrated, this app deserves more hype. it’s free, it’s easy, it’s reliable, it doesn’t crash, it doesn’t require wifi, easy to convert to pdf. As a first time filmmaker writing my first script, this could not be easier to use and great for teaching you how to format a script. Couldn’t be simpler! I have recommended this to my filmmaker friends and I am recommending to you!

### 5/5 — Seriously, why are people complaining? This is awesome!

*2025-05-27*

I am having the time of my life writing screenplays for movies on this app, and it changed me. 10/10, 5 stars. Recommend it to more people, and say nice things about it.

### 5/5 — Very good software

*2025-05-13, version 7.0.513*

It's convenient on a tablet/ipad. I've been using it for my college courses and had no problems with it whatsoever. It's straightforward and quick to learn even as a beginner.

### 5/5 — Great for a Free App

*2025-05-13, version 7.0.513*

It's pretty good for a free writing app! Works similarly as their desktop version and convenient when you use it with a tablet. Would recommend!

### 5/5 — Creating Documents or Projects Unavailable!

*2025-05-11, version 7.0.513*

I use the app for Morgan & Sabrina transcripts and every time I try to add a new document, it says that it is unavailable in my account! what the hell does that have to do with anything? How do I fix it?! :(

### 5/5 — Best all rounder

*2025-03-22, version 7.0.513*

Great intuitive interface, many functions for notes and collaboration. My new favourite free screenwriting software

### 5/5 — Easily the best Screenwriting App

*2025-03-18*

I've used just about all the screenwriting apps and WD is easily the best. There's a bit of a learning curve, but once you get used to it, you'll never wanna go back to FD. It's also worth it to get the desktop version.

**Developer response:** Hey there, thank you for bringing this to our attention! Apologies for the inconvenience here - there is currently a limitation with upgrading via the iOS app. That said, you should be able to upgrade by logging into your WriterDuet account on your computer or mobile device's web browser.

If you continue to have issues, please email us at help@writerduet.com and our support team will be happy to assist you further!

### 5/5 — Literally perfect! Peak Peak Peak!

*2025-03-12, version 7.0.513*

So straight forward, exactly what I needed. So much thought put into this app, I reccomend it!!
