NOTAMs, METAR and TAF is too difficult to read due to very small fonts. Very hard to use for users who wear reading glasses. This option has been requested for years, but was still ignored. ### 2/5 — App intermittently logs users out-deletes favorite charts *2021-09-09* This application continues to log me out at irregular intervals. That in and of itself isn’t that big of a deal, however when I log back in all my favorite charts are gone. I save them in a particular order for my self briefing. What’s more is that I must add the charts back in, in reverse order of viewing. There’s no function that allows shifting the order of charts saved. ### 2/5 — Radar Data *2020-08-01, version 2020.1.2* I am using version 2019.2.2 and it loads the last 5 hours of radar depicting data before running radar. This takes a very long time especially using the aircraft WiFi system, usually over 10 minutes. And if you change the area of depiction, it restarts the loading process. As a pilot, I do not need the previous 5 hours of data and I don’t usually have the time in flight to wait on it to load to make decisions. So using the radar in this version is worthless. ### 3/5 — Latest Update Causes Issues *2019-12-02, version 2019.2.1* The most recent update took away the passenger brief module on airport weather and now causes long (timing out) downloads resulting in incomplete weather package downloads. ### 2/5 — Best feature is gone *2019-04-26, version 2019.1.1* Descent app. However, the last update removed one of the most useful features. The extended forecast was especially useful for extended sequence planning for packing purposes, asa well as briefing passengers and crew. ### 2/5 — Bring back the outlook. *2019-04-10, version 2019.1* I used it constantly. Of course we need the metars and TAFs, but let us see down the road too . That was a very useful feature unfortunately ### 3/5 — North American forecast hardly ever works *2016-01-13* Overall good app. But with the new version the North American radar forecast (which I loved and came in really handy in previous versions) doesn't load 90% of the time. Fix this and it will be a great app again. ### 2/5 — Crashes a lot *2015-10-20, version 2.9.2* On my iPad using ios9 the app keeps crashing every time I try to move around the map or change the zoom level! Loses GPS feature, and only way to fix it it to delete and reinstall, which kills all the favorites. App needs to sync favorites between devices, which would at least allow a way to get them back easily. Fix it already! ### 2/5 — Frustrating *2014-11-15, version 2.8.3* Pretty useful app, WHEN IT WORKS! 50% of the time, the app will not open. I then have to delete and redownload the app along with the Nav data bases and all of my Favorites. Only way to resolve it is to delete program and download again. Crashes *2014-10-05, version 2.8.2* I downloaded the October 1, 2014 update and find I cannot open the app. All I get is the initial 'blue' screen introducing WSI and this page freezes and won't continue into program. Terrible update. ### 1/5 — Waste of time *2014-09-19, version 2.8.1* Just downloaded and tried to open. It asked for a login which of course I did not have since this was the first time to use. BUT, there is no way to open a new account. What is this a new Catch 22? ### 3/5 — Almost 4 starts *2014-08-21* Biggest issue I have is the buttons for selecting radar, sigs and alike. They are 2 small and need clear indications if they are on or off. (Not the slight gray shift that happens now) What held me back from 4 stars, is the app does lock up on me from time to time. Sometimes requiring a reboot of iPad I really really like being able to see retreat before calling clearance so I have an idea what is coming. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Impossible billing practices *2026-03-25* I have used this app for several years and from day one my only complaint is their accounting / billing. They do not have a normal pay portal, they require electronic wire transfer which is a 35$ fee to me from my bank or a mailed in check which they have failed to process several times where I had to mail in replacement checks that resulted in overpayment. Now they are claiming I did not pay 2 invoices from a year ago…. Impossible to deal with. I canceled my subscription ### 1/5 — What is this *2021-08-19, version 2021.1* Couldn’t figure out how to create a login. I just wanted to look at weather… ### 1/5 — Useless *2020-04-16, version 2019.2.2* Nowhere does it say that you must have an account to use this app. And there is no way to set up an account either. From what I can gather it is for commercial fleet operators only. WHY NOT SAY THAT IN THE DESCRIPTION! ### 1/5 — Deceptive *2020-01-23, version 2019.2.2* Unless you are a corporate customer, this app doesn’t work. It downloads, but unless you have the sign in information and password, no weather information is available. Don’t bother downloading this app unless you work for an airline. ### 1/5 — Local Forecast gone on airport tab *2019-04-18, version 2019.1* I fly corporately and used to love the app. We also use ForeFlight for aviation purposes. My favorite part of the WSI app was the multi-day forecast you can check for a 3-4 days. It was great for telling passengers what to expect and helped me for packing purposes. I also used it for baseball practices. I’m strongly considering cancelling our subscription. ### 1/5 — Crashing Constantly *2019-04-11, version 2019.1* Beware latest update. Crashes repeatedly and unsuitable for use. Fortunately, our charting app now has usable weather with lightning data. Also if you do get it open, multiday information gone, so knowing what is needed for a four day trip, go elsewhere. What moron thought taking information away was a good idea? ### 1/5 — Is this for real? *2018-03-28* Thought I’d look at this product. There’s no pricing information anywhere that I could find. Downloaded the app and the only single option is Sign In....How? No option to sign-up, create an account, or any instructions anywhere! Even the links to the website show lots of clever software packages but nothing that actually helps someone use them. ### 1/5 — Update won't open *2015-11-02, version 2.10* I just updated this app on my iPad Air2 with iOS 9.1. Now the app won't even open..... ### 1/5 — Good when it works *2014-11-29* This the most unstable app I've ever used. I reboot my iPad 4 to try and get it to open. I have charts marked for favorites to view offline. I then go to view and no charts? I put a route in then get briefing with 4G or faster connection and it takes very long time to get briefing then I try and view chart that I just waited for to download and it is blank. No chart! Lucky my employer pays for service. I would never pay for this unstable service. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Seeing some good improvements to this app *2024-12-10* I like the recent turbulence insight additions- SkyPath few months back and IATA EDR last week. Occurrences are getting more frequent, so these are great to have ### 5/5 — Very good improvement *2018-04-14* The vertical profile is a huge improvement over previous versions! No more need to iteratively scan different flight levels RPM forecasts and the punch and zoom functionality within the vertical profile really helps me get a better picture of the forecasted turbulence before and during flight without connectivity. I have used it on a couple of Hawaii flights and one trans-con and so far I really like this new version. ### 5/5 — Airline Capt DFW *2014-01-20* Probably the best app for commercial airlines. Our airline preaches common situational awareness and everything I see on Optima is included in my release. SATRAD is very accurate. Also glad our airline got the WSI FPG's - a lot more accurate than the govt stuff. ### 5/5 — A long way to go! *2013-01-02* Seems as if you took the intellicast app and modified it. Not impressed with the user interface. I suggested taking a look at Foreflights user interface which is the best out there the only advantage you have is worldwide airmets and Sigmets . ### 5/5 — Improvement *2012-10-31* Just updated the app, and I like what I see- what WSI does best, weather and info for pilots! I like this update and it something that should be expected by the powerhouse in weather service provider. Keep up the good work, and I look forward to future updates on what should be a solid requirement by pilots. ### 5/5 — Great and easy *2011-11-24* This app is simple to use, but powerful enough to be used by FAR121 air carriers. The app pulls the most recent FAA cleared routings which is a nice feature when weather is a factor. I have the flight planning version which alerts me by text when weather forecast takes turn for the worse. Yes, I think it remains for use primarily for a fleet of aircraft, small or large….But it runs much better then it did before and the functionality of things are better as well. I can reliably highlight places on the flight log and then I can actually delete the same markings. A big improvement. Overall, it’s gotten better. Keep up the good work.
