This one does. But it keeps interrupting at random intervals with ads, er, underwriting messages. ### 4/5 — Good start *2019-04-25* It's great to have all the npr programs I love in one place to listen to. The "watch" tab still crashes frequently however, and the menus are not intuitive, takes awhile to poke around and find what you're looking for. I don't use it for reading the news, just listening to my favorite radio programs! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 2/5 — Frustrating *2025-10-15* I love NPR and listen to it on and off all day. I switched to the app because of poor radio reception . However, the station identification interruptions in the middle of programs (seemingly always when someone is making a critical point!) and sudden failures have almost driven me away. I prefer to support my local NPR station -especially now-but am running out of goodwill. ### 2/5 — Enough with the UHS ads *2023-10-20* I appreciate that this is a free service but I’ve switched back to the NPR app because when using the WSKG app, if your mobile coverage changes in any way, the opening ad replays. So if you’re driving in an area with bad coverage, the program you’re listening to is CONSTANTLY interrupted and that annoying UHS ad is replayed. I’m talking 4-5 times in 60 seconds. Until that gets fixed, I’m not using it. ### 2/5 — Still loses signal *2023-06-05, version 4.6.7* Good: it’s now more obvious what to click Bad: The app has trouble handling the handoff from wifi to cell service. It goes on pause, and pressing play doesn’t always work. It also goes on pause occasionally for no obvious reason, even in areas with strong cell signal. Again, manually pushing play may or may not work until the app is good and ready to restart. ### 2/5 — Love the programming but hate the shutdowns. *2021-04-30* When it works, it’s great. It worked flawlessly for a year or more, but then started shutting down after connecting to the livestream.It would play that little commercial and then seem to spool for 4 or 5 seconds, then shut down completely. Annoying. I deleted it and reinstalled, and it got better for a while then started again. ### 2/5 — Great apps suddenly fails *2021-03-26* I’ve had this app for a couple of years and it has been wonderful. I can listen to my station while walking my dog, digging in the yard or drywalling in the house. It’s been perfect, until a couple days ago. Now when I login it connects to the station and then shuts down. I started up again connect to the station it shuts down. This goes on over and over and over it was sometimes stay connected when I’m on Wi-Fi but you’re no longer stay connected when I’m on data, which is how I mostly used it. I’m sure it will get fixed, and when it does I’ll put my star rating back up to five. But until then it’s just immensely frustrating. ### 2/5 — Looping of startup message *2020-06-29* I love the content! But the app keeps looping the “your care your way” sponsor message every few minutes, interrupting the news when I try listening this way. In the past this message played only once then streaming was not interrupted after that. ### 2/5 — Can you hear me now? *2020-06-20* I really enjoy their programming and particularly appreciate the integrated app that has both radio and TV. However, this latest version comes with a built-in volume slider set to “0”. I have been unable to increase the volume, which means, no I can’t hear it al all! ### 3/5 — Too many interruptions *2025-09-22, version 6.3.8* Not having a radio, I rely on the app to listen to my favorite npr shows, such as all things considered. Lately the station identifications are frequent and take away from my enjoyment of the content. I am a sustaining member. ### 3/5 — When it works, it’s great, but when it doesn’t… *2023-03-26* I love and support WSKG. I listen to WSKG radio on the app. You have to press a forward arrow button to start it, then 2 bars gradually turn white as it loads. Then the radio is audible. Recently it’s back to its age old issue of not starting at all. I hard restarted my iPhone and that didn’t solve the problem. I deleted and downloaded the app again. Recently moved to an area where I get a weak signal from WSKG Classical. It’s great to be able to stream both stations thru wifi and still catch my show. ### 4/5 — Better *2026-07-26* The new versions now have a seamless handoff from Wi-Fi to cellular. However, it triggers the initial sponsor messages all over again, which means we miss some of the programming.
