I have all my settings set up correctly. I’ll get an alert about a news story. I’ll click on the alert to take me to the story, but it just takes me to the apps main page. All of a sudden a week or so ago news videos started playing automatically and won’t stop even when you close the app. If I wanted to watch or hear the video I should be able to control it myself. It’s really annoying to open the app to catch up on headlines and a video starts blaring, especially if I’m doing this in a quiet space like a doctors office or bed while my husband is asleep. So, I’m now considering deleting the app and finding a new local news source. I also could do with fewer push notifications of every, little, thing. Especially homicides. ### 2/5 — Videos are doubled and audio plays even after app is closed *2024-05-18* As a Charlotte native I trust WSOC-TV for my news. However, lately the app audio will start playing even when I am not in the app. I was in a meeting a work and even though my phone was on silent, the audio from a news story started playing. So embarrassing!!! This was not the first time either one night, in the middle of the night, it started playing randomly too. Also upon opening the app and phone being on silent it is also playing audio from a video that I don’t even care to see or watch. Please get this fixed! until updated, I will have to uninstall and go with WBTV ### 2/5 — Video hangs and then plays double audio *2024-05-14* Since the latest update, I have resorted to shutting the app down after only about 5 minutes of use. The live video abruptly stops and when it starts again, it plays double audio or even the audio from a commercial (of which now there are WAY to many). Please fix that. ### 1/5 — Don't Bother *2026-03-16, version 8.9.8* This is, by far, the worst news app of the three network TV stations in Charlotte. It's technologically shoddy and unreliable, and consistently has outdated information. As for the staff, their writing, spelling and grammatical skills are embarrassingly poor more often than not. I finally gave up and deleted it from my mobile device. ### 1/5 — Horrible! *2026-02-08* Do not depend on this app for your local Charlotte news! This app is constantly full of old news and outdated information and stories. It doesn’t get updated on a regular basis, and important stories can take days to make it to the app. In addition, they repeat the same story multiple times under different headings to make it look like there is a lot of news content. There isn’t. Sports and sports content are the worst, many times not updating results or providing a story until the day after a game is over. The app itself is horrible, with super tiny fonts that are hard to read and small pictures that you cannot see on the main feed. WSOC-TV is great news on television, but absolutely horrible on the app. You get better and faster news through social media than through the app. A waste of time to even look. They need to hire a good team of people just to run the app and redesign it! Truly disappointed in the WSOC news app. ### 1/5 — Too many bugs *2025-11-16, version 8.9.6* Your app is so glitchy. I’m not sure if it’s a tactic to get the ads displayed or what but I’m over it. ### 1/5 — It’s playing double audio since update *2024-01-07* Audio n video errors need to be fixed immediately; I can’t watch it even just read because automatically the app opens with audio playing. If I try to pick something else the original audio n new audio plays at same time. Then at times the video doesn’t open with error showing but audio playing someone but another audio is playing as well. Very annoying and I literally hate opening the app now, but sometimes I want to read and update in a story and there goes that audio, geez.
