## What is WSSC FHP?

WSSC Fire Hydrant Painting (FHP) is an enterprise field-service mobile application built for authorized contractors working on behalf of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC Water). It is a workforce tool — not a consumer app — used by professional painters and crew leads to manage, document, and complete fire hydrant inspection, painting, and maintenance work orders across WSSC Water's service area.

Key features:

• Offline-first work order management. Painters can view all assigned work orders, hydrant lists, and asset details even without network coverage. Changes sync automatically when the device returns online.

• GPS-verified photo capture. Before-and-after photographs of each fire hydrant are captured with precise location coordinates stamped at the moment of capture. The app verifies the painter is within proximity of the hydrant's stored location, supporting work-integrity standards.

• Condition logging. Painters can record observed conditions on each hydrant (rust, damage, obstruction, broken caps, etc.) with structured selections for consistent reporting.

• Inclement-weather logging. Crews can record days when weather conditions prevented work, with same-day timestamping and downstream backend integration.

• Daily summaries. A built-in daily report shows work completed that day, total hydrants serviced, and a summary view for daily standups.

• Spanish localization. The interface is fully translated, supporting bilingual crews.

Access to WSSC FHP is restricted to authorized WSSC Water contractor accounts. Member accounts are provisioned through WSSC Water's contractor onboarding process — public users will not have valid login credentials and will not be able to use the app.

Data is encrypted in transit. Crash diagnostics are sent to a secure monitoring service (Sentry) to help maintain app reliability. See the Privacy Policy linked in the listing for full details on data collection.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.0.0 — 2026-06-05

WSSC Fire Hydrant Painting has been completely rebuilt as a modern Flutter mobile application. This is a new major version of the app, designed from the ground up for performance, reliability, and improved field-service workflows.

What's new in this release:

• Modern Flutter-based architecture for faster app launches and smoother navigation
• Offline-first design — capture work, take photos, log conditions, and submit work orders even without network coverage; changes sync automatically when online
• GPS-verified photo capture with on-device verification that the painter is at the correct hydrant location
• Distance-from-hydrant display on captured photos to confirm accurate field placement
• Activity Start and Complete dates can be the same day for single-visit work
• Inclement weather logging with one-tap submission and same-day timestamping
• Daily summary view showing all hydrants completed today
• Full Spanish localization for bilingual crews
• Improved photo capture rejection — if a photo is taken too far from the hydrant, the app clears it cleanly so the painter can recapture without confusion
• Enhanced date validation across all work order entries
• Improved error reporting and crash diagnostics for stability

Access remains restricted to authorized WSSC Water contractor accounts.
