### 4/5 — Fun but pay app doesn’t work.

*2026-06-06, version 6.1.6*

Overall this is a fun turn-based game. The gameplay is smooth and challenging. The only frustrating part is when I go to pay for a premium package, the app doesn’t connect to the App Store. Guess the developers don’t like money!

### 5/5 — Great Strategy Game

*2026-05-10, version 6.1.6*

European War is one of those strategy games that knows exactly what it wants to be. It does not pretend to be a hyper-realistic military simulation in the mould of Gary Grigsby, nor does it drown the player in spreadsheets and logistics charts. Instead, it delivers something rarer: a genuinely addictive grand-strategy war game that captures the sweep and atmosphere of the Second World War while remaining playable on a sofa, train journey, or late at night when you should probably be asleep.

The appeal lies in the balance between simplicity and depth. At first glance the mechanics seem straightforward — move armies, capture cities, manage resources, deploy generals — but after a few campaigns you begin to realise how much the game quietly expects from the player. Overextension kills you. Naval supremacy matters. Air power can break stalemates. A reckless offensive into Russia becomes a graveyard of elite units in much the same way it did historically. The game rewards patience, timing, and the occasional act of ruthless pragmatism.

What elevates European War above countless forgettable mobile strategy titles is atmosphere. There is something undeniably compelling about watching the map slowly change colour as fronts collapse and entire theatres of war shift under your control. The campaigns have an almost old-fashioned charm, recalling the era of hex-map board games and dusty military atlases. Even the music and visual style carry a slightly nostalgic quality, as though the game understands that part of the fascination with WW2 strategy is not merely victory, but immersion in the vast geopolitical drama itself.

The generals system is particularly effective. Famous commanders are not just decorative portraits; they become central to your strategy. A strong panzer general can punch through impossible lines, while a skilled defensive commander can hold a city long enough to save an entire front. This creates memorable narratives that feel personal rather than procedural. You stop thinking in terms of abstract units and start thinking: Rommel must hold here at all costs.

That said, the game is not flawless. The AI can occasionally veer between surprisingly competent and utterly suicidal. Difficulty spikes sometimes feel artificial rather than earned, especially in later scenarios where the enemy appears to possess endless resources. Like many mobile strategy games, progression systems and upgrades can occasionally edge toward grind. Yet even these frustrations contribute to the “one more turn” quality that keeps players returning.

### 5/5 — Ww2 strategy world war Games

*2026-04-02, version 6.1.6*

Hi I could get pass level 14 I haven’t got aircraft carrier

### 3/5 — Fun game but there’s glitches

*2026-03-26, version 6.1.6*

While this can be a challenging game, there’s a few issues and glitches that are very annoying. There’s a level on the allies side that you can’t complete, it just doesn’t work, it’s very weird. Also, the USSR portion has been “coming soon” for a very, very long time with no update or messages regarding an update. I think the developer is comfortable with where the game is at and isn’t interested in working out any bugs. Oh well

### 1/5 — Buyer beware

*2024-08-04*

I’ve played this game for a long time. And, I’ve spent a fair amount of dollars on add-ons and upgrades. I was never enthused about sending dollars to a company based in a country that isn’t on the best of terms with mine. But, I bit the proverbial bullet anyway.
Several months ago the app developers disabled the Facebook save option. At that time I lost the ability to save my progress. When I attempted to archive my progress to Game Center the game would freeze. Naively, I assumed that this was a temporary problem that the developers would recognize and correct. They did not.
So, several months ago I contacted them via Discord. Their representative asked that I send screenshots of my progress and they would compensate me. Time went on. Then I was told to delete and reinstall the game and then perform an archive download. I did so, and lost everything.
So, here it stands. To date I have been provided with a minuscule portion of what I lost. A fraction of what I spent.
I’ve been told that they are busy fixing bugs in new games. And, that the people I was previously working with have been replaced. I’ve been asked to resend information that was already provided on two prior occasions. And, I wait. Crickets.
Therefore, my advice regarding this app and JoyNow Games is, Caveat Emptor. I’m not experiencing much joy now.

### 5/5 — Best WWII war game

*2026-07-21, version 6.1.6*

I’ve played just about all of these turn based strategy games in my opinion this game and the Grand War II Napoleonic War games are the best.
Good tutorials, extremely clear graphic images and simple yet complex game play are very challenging yet totally enjoyable.
Very few ads and you can actually advance ever so slowly without having to purchase any troops.
  Well done.

### 5/5 — this is probably the best turn based World War II game on the market

*2026-06-15, version 6.1.6*

I’ve been playing this game for two years, the only downside is, I lost my first account and was not able to recover it. Otherwise, it would be six stars.

### 5/5 — Great game!

Amazing game, accurate SD.KFZ numbers for the axis. That was the point where it earned 5 stars.
