When the user attempts to read a story by following its link, the app launches a video advertisement. Every time. Often the exact same ad. After reading some reviews and seeing how many users share my pain, I caught a clue. Following another user’s suggestion, I downloaded and installed the “Western MA News” app. To my delight, I easily found a supremely detailed, peppy and personable four paragraph weather forecast covering the next several days. And, I have yet to see a video ad. Hopefully the WWLP app team will consider how disappointing their application’s user experience is, when compared with their competition. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Your app is TRASH *2025-07-10* The news 22/WWLP app is atrocious. Every time you have it open it will randomly open up a browser window to a random site or a reCAPTCHA..you don’t have to even touch your screen and you are redirected. The grammatical mistakes on their news story’s are also hilarious…it’s almost like the crew at this station use ai to generate stories…can someone at the station prove they have an education? They don’t even know the difference between infamous and famous. To, too, and two are very different words…no wonder you have such a turnover rate at ur company. ### 1/5 — Often Unusable *2025-06-26, version 500.8.0* Frequently switches to my web browser and tries to load a page. I’m not tapping any ads, and sometimes not even touching the screen. App is unusable like this.
