The amount of data that is presented is so overwhelming I don’t even know what I am looking at, very confusing. Where I come from we had a simple saying , when at all possible, just K.I.S.S. “Keep It Simple Silly” Other than that, great station, the variety is always good, keep up the good work! ### 3/5 — Not so great *2022-08-29, version 4.5.55* I so want to like this app, it’s currently the only way I can listen to WXXI news, I stream. I’ve had to delete and reload the app numerous times as it freezes. Annoying, it least I have an avenue to fix it. ### 3/5 — Good App, But Not Always Reliable *2021-05-21, version 4.4.66* I enjoy the app for the most part, but it frequently and annoyingly cuts away from programming and buffers a lot. The programming abruptly stops , re-engages and then goes right to several “underwriting” sponsors. This happens every few minutes. The app was last updated 8 months ago and is desperate need of a refresh to accommodate the new iOS releases. I also have super fast internet speed, so it’s not my system with the problem. Fix this problem and I’ll give the app 5 stars. ### 3/5 — The station? Yes. The App? Not so much. *2020-10-30, version 4.4.66* My complaint starts at the splash page - my gosh, is it busy! So much info on that page, but little I actually want. I simply want: 1) To listen live to the classical feed. 2) Know what I’m listening to. 3) Set a sleep timer so the feed stops after XX minutes. 4) Links to syndicated show websites, such as “Exploring Music” or “The Score.” You could steal a lot of ideas from other station apps... ### 3/5 — Needs work... *2020-07-10, version 4.4.62* I agree with the reviewers above "the app is too busy..." I usually only want to listen to the live broadcasts or catch up (later) with the live programs that I missed. WXXI radio signals here in rural Livingston county are not great, so I like to listen on-line. Often the content takes a l-o-n-g time to load, probably due to our less than robust bandwidth & internet speed. Are public stations lobbying for better internet service in rural areas? The app has great content but it would be nice if play button and play list were more obvious. The home page is too busy with content. Sometimes it drops out, too. Charging for upgrades, rather than simply endlessly pledging, maybe an answer. Funny that the app popped up with one of those “rate this app” interruptions right as I was trying yet again to get 91.5 to stream through the app. That aside this app was clearly designed to look pretty without regard to actual use. ### 1/5 — Leaves everything to be desired *2019-05-11, version 3.9.38* Just tried to use the app to share Blacks in Blues with family in Wisconsin... had to go to the web because the app only offered a stream from 91.5. I like classical music to but that wasn’t what I’d promised. Also, so sleep timer last time I looked. ### 1/5 — Can’t access WXXI news anymore. *2018-08-31, version 3.9.9* Whatever you did to change the app. It is awful. I can’t even get just plain WXXI News anymore. I am stopping my contribution to this public radio station because I can’t listen to programming anymore. ### 1/5 — Sad *2018-04-09, version 3.03* I am a long-time contributor yet cannot find a reliable digital stream. All my apple devices have NO problem with other audio and video streaming apps. Yet this app spontaneously halts playback at random times, requiring me to suffer listening repeatedly to the intro ad. It also halts both when leaving and returning WIFI. ### 1/5 — Ruined by commercials *2016-10-13, version 3.02* Every time the app is started there is a commercial. Very annoying! If I get a phone call and the app is halted, for instance, the commercial plays again! I don't want to listen to commercials 20 times a day, so will have to delete this app. ### 1/5 — Randomly stops streaming *2014-10-27, version 2.01* The app doesn't work well for me at all. The stream just randomly stops and won't start again. My NPR news app streams WXXI just fine though, with no interruptions. ### 2/5 — Not well behaved *2018-08-07, version 3.9.9* The new version is more complicated but not more useful. Once again, if the stream drops the app is frozen. To resume the stream, you need to shut down the app and restart it. Then you get to hear the 30 second opening advert again. ### 2/5 — More strokes to do the same thing *2018-07-11, version 3.9.9* I'm still not sure how to start streaming on this rev of the app. I can dial it up but the sequence isn't obvious, so I have to figure it out every time. Look, we don't need more features. Too many apps have too much crammed in and are complicated to use. I get tired of figuring out how these things work, because they're all different and most of them aren't intuitive. They jump all over rather than simply implementing a few key use cases. I wish that the software trade would just stop it! ### 2/5 — Annoying promo intro... *2017-06-15, version 3.03* Recently the promos inserted when the app opens stopped for a few days and I thought "great!" Due to the number of issues with the app hanging requiring a restart it's very annoying to have to wait for the promo to finish when you're trying to get back to the story you were listening to, which is usually over by the time the promo is over.
