He has been flexible with scheduling and made math a lot less stressful and hopeless for our child. Our child seems to enjoy the course after Mr. Schorr started to help. We plan to continue using his services for the rest of the year. She’s thorough, provides detailed notes, access to the lesson along with notes on each problem that your child struggled with. She makes the follow-up and homework easy to navigate by providing all on a Google doc. She’s responsive, has great energy, and is invested in your child’s growth. I believe it was really a meet, and get the basic understanding of what my daughter is looking to accomplish, goals, areas she’s strong in, and areas she needs help with. But that quickly changed , because my daughter has a test tomorrow in AP biology. John was very easy going, went right along with it, and explained things very well . My daughter is very happy with john , and is actually looking forward to her next lesson Thank you john. It is wonderful to be able to quickly refresh a skill or even learn a new one with one-on-one tutoring that is convenient and professional. The very first time I used the app, I found a great chemistry tutor for my son. But more recently, I was ghosted by the Physics/Precalc tutor I hired in advance of my son’s junior year. There’s absolutely nothing I can do. I lined up the tutor in advance of the school year, but when I reached out to schedule the first meeting, he just stopped responding. And that’s it. Now, I need to start from scratch to find a new tutor. ### 1/5 — Blatant misuse of personal data *2026-07-31, version 5.8.1* They will share your personal data with tutors without any kind of opt-in or notification. I had tutors reaching out to me referencing the city I live in. The only time I entered my location was for the billing address on my credit card ### 1/5 — Poor privacy controls. Be aware-the app shares your info with no explicit consent. *2026-04-01, version 5.7.0* The app shared what I believed was a private correspondence between me and a prospective teacher with anyone in its database, without explicit permission. I only later noticed the settings for that function. Beyond that, I was contacted by random people across the US who don’t fit my criteria. I’ve requested removal of all my personal information and deletion of my account. ### 1/5 — App keeps glitching on my iPad *2026-01-24, version 5.6.17* Every time I try to open my messages on the Wyzant app, the app instantly closes out and I have to reopen it. I have tried deleting and re-downloading it. It still doesn’t work ### 1/5 — Messaging tab won't load messages. *2025-04-17, version 5.6.9* Can't video call through the app. I have to use a web browser. Furthermore, the messaging tab stopped working. It's stuck in loading screen. However, all I received were ads for tutors and tutors asking to see the assignment but not agreeing to a lesson. Waste of time. ### 1/5 — Like the options, reviews. Search function not the best. *2023-06-30, version 5.5.6.* I’ve been using this website and app on and off for a month or two to find a summer tutor for my child. I really like that you can see how long someone has been tutoring, how many people they have tutored, rates, and their reviews. However, I’ve spent a lot more time reading through lots of profiles because the search function doesn’t work that well with topics/specialities and the specialities aren’t totally clear (black vs blue font- are they approved in both?). I’ve gotten math and chemistry tutors high in my search for a grammar tutor. If they could improve that it would be perfect! ### 1/5 — Concept is great, the guarantee is a lie *2021-05-25, version 5.2.1* They claim there is a great fit tutor guarantee, but even when the tutor leads you in a wrong direction putting you in a worse off place than you were when you started, even if the tutor straight up says they don’t know how to help you, Wyzant’s customer service never gets back to you. It may be worth the risk, just don’t expect them to follow through on their promise of crediting you, refunding you, or finding you someone to better help you. And especially don’t try the find me a tutor option, where you set a time and they find you a tutor. They set me up with tutors who literally never looked at what they were teaching. They told me they were doing a quick tutorial before the session. I told them it wouldn’t work, then I tried again and it rematched me with the same person. I told the person that this wouldn’t work for me, then the person went off on me for messaging them. The tutors don’t seem to know it’s an automatic match. I wish there were more options for this sort of service out there. ### 1/5 — Do NOT create an account with your Apple ID *2021-04-27, version 5.2.1* The app developer should not offer an option to create an account with your Apple ID because then you’re limited in what you can update since you don’t know what Apple uses for the password. Getting access to reviewed and vetted tutors is great, but they clearly haven’t thought it all out. As another example, if you’re a parent, you should sign up with the kid’s info or else your kid will have to use parental info to log in or deal with the hassle of contacting customer support... which they warn you will take a while. ### 1/5 — Basically no customer support *2020-04-14, version 4.6* The experience in terms of finding a tutor was okay. But the issue with Wyzant is that there is basically no customer service. Rude, professional agents, especially the ones who take care of online chatting for customer support. I would recommend no one link their banking information to the Wyzant account, because I bet there will be some financial issues with the tutor, and Wyzant would not do anything. They charge your PayPal account in the forms of ”automated payment, ” which makes it really hard to dispute. It is not a subscription service so there would be no need for them to charge you with automated payment. One of my tutors told me that Wyzant takes a quite huge percentage from the payment also. I am pretty sure they do not invest that to improving customer service. Do not use Wyzant. There are other subscription services such as Chegg. I have had no issues with them, especially in terms of payment. Wyzant is so worried that the customer contacts tutor directly to avoid their service fee, mandatory fees they take from the tutor. She is very knowledgeable about AP World History and can clearly explain topics to my daughter. Faith also created presentations for each of the units, which made it really helpful for studying even after the session ended. She makes sure that you understand, and I really recommend her to anyone looking for tutoring!! ### 5/5 — The perfect fit *2026-05-11, version 5.7.1* My son is 15 and has been working with Toby once a week for almost a year. When he started he was just restarting his efforts to figure out FLStudio. He tried on his own and couldn’t so he quit. I knew he needed someone who knew the program to help him. I also knew he needed someone who could work with him not just tell him as he figured it out. It was Toby’s experience in music production and his background in and around music education that caught my eye when looking on Wyzant. (Shoutout to Wyzant. Great platform) The progress my son has made is remarkable. He has released an EP as well as many tracks on Spotify and Apple Music. Again, he, out of frustration, stopped trying to figure out FL studio a year prior. Now, he is watching his ideas become reality and starting to understand how it feels to be a true creator. From learning the basics and individual tools in the beginning to creating full songs Toby has challenged him and taught him. And, thanks to Toby’s style, my son has enjoyed that process. The relationship between Toby and my son has developed past teacher student. It more resembles mentor/collaborator. For anyone with a teen that has a passion to make music, but needs structure and guidance I’d recommend Toby. His knowledge covers a wide range of musical genres. But, it’s that knowledge of music production coupled with real life experience in the classroom while working with NYU that truly sets him apart.
