(Old: Nice replacement, needs a few tweaks still) *2023-06-25, version 1.8.3* Nice app, mostly seems to work as well as the no-longer-available app did. A couple of wish list items for me…. 1. Please automatically remove statuses when they expire! Statuses have to be manually removed. Ie, you stun a monster. It should lose that status at the end of its next turn. The app currently doesn’t do that automatically. 2. Let us drag folks around to alter the initiative order. One player can alter their initiative +/- 10 after the initiative reveal, and sometimes we simply mistype in a number for a player. It would be extremely helpful if we could drag a player’s character up/down in the initiative order once we have drawn the monsters initiatives to adjust for those circumstances, as once we have drawn, we currently can neither drag nor can we change the number. 3. Make the various decks a touch bigger. The ally and monster decks are very close together and the “a” and “m” identifying which is which is very small, even on my larger iPad, so when we have an ally taking a turn, it can be very easy to accidentally draw from the monster deck. Great app! ### 5/5 — Great app, so many features *2023-05-06, version 1.8.3* The app is absolutely great. I used the Gloomhaven helper when playing Gloomhaven and I am using x-haven for Frosthaven. The app improves almost any aspect of the already very good GH helper, and it is free. We played about 20 scenarios, and every time we needed something unusual, be it a special monster or special rules, the app had a solution ready. It even keeps track of loot and reminds section links. Perhaps the graphic presentation could be improved (it is how the pictures show) but if you value functionality over aesthetics look no further. ### 5/5 — Game changer *2023-04-20, version 1.8.3* This dramatically improved our game experience. Great method of keeping track of character/monster turn order, statuses, experience, and doing all the “math” for you for monster attack decks. But pretty much perfect. *2023-02-22, version 1.7.2* Honestly this app is fantastic and makes the "official" helper app look terrible. The only downside is it's pretty ugly, but who cares. It saves us easily 30 minutes a session. ### 5/5 — This is the one you want *2023-02-12, version 1.6.3* It takes about 10-15 minutes to learn the UI/UX and what it’s doing, but this is going to be a huge time saver for sessions. Very, very excited to use this. ### 5/5 — Perfect app *2023-02-10, version 1.6.3* Currently, tapping on “add scenario” or “add section” darkens the screen as if waiting for a menu to pop up, but one never does. All I can do is tap near the top left to make the darkening go away. It’s still possible to set the scenario manually by adding monsters, but now we have the tables from scenario 15 jotl just hanging out with us XD This is on a 5th gen iPad. Update: fixed by uninstall and reinstall. Haven’t tried a full scenario since then, but expecting that’s it’s great. This app automates away so much of the busywork, and helps clear out a lot of room on our small table. Love it! ### 5/5 — Exactly what we needed *2023-02-05, version 1.6.2* Works better than the official helper app, and even better - it’s free! ### 4/5 — Nearly perfect *2023-01-24, version 1.5.6* Fantastic app for any GH/FH players - as the old American Express commercial said ‘Don’t leave home without it.’ The only reason I can’t give 5 stars today is an issue with client/host syncing - we are using 2 iPad Pros on home network - since last update (not before) changes on host iPad are not synced to client iPad. Client player touches screen and continuously gets error message ‘your state is not up to date’ ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Connection issues make this worse than worthless *2023-12-13, version 1.8.5* If this didn’t exist my crew would just use cards. But it does exist and so I get to choose between having no idea what the monsters are doing and spending my evening trying to reconnect constantly. Letting me place 3 max for each type ### 2/5 — Could be amazing *2024-09-06, version 1.10.0* I downloaded this app today, unfortunately I can flip a monster card over to view all of them on the page together and I can’t add any hit points to them so we have gone back to using the cards from the game, it’s a real shame. Unfortunately, it drains phone battery like crazy. No other app I use, even full on games, drains battery and makes my phone heat up like this does. The amount of time savings is humongous. My only complaint is that it seems to absolutely eat battery in client mode on older iOS devices. It’s killed an iPad Air and phone from 100% battery to 0 in two of our sessions. The server device seems to be a bit better. ### 4/5 — A bit unstable but works well *2023-03-14, version 1.7.2* My group runs into multiple disconnects in a sessions. It’s frustrating but a quick relaunch normally fix the issue for a little while. Other than that, as a new player I find this app perfect to follow and a life saver when it comes to enemy management. We currently have to keep track of which turn the statuses went on and try to remember when we need to manually remove them ourselves. App works fantastic. It has everything you need. The only wish I had would be to indicate when someones turn is over so they move to the bottom, but thats a very minor thing. Especially love that we can stop moving the magic manually, we always forgot. ### 5/5 — Great App *2026-04-12, version 1.13.8* Love this app, makes set up and takedown so much quicker. Eliminates a lot of table clutter. Was a MUST with my gaming group and is a MUST with my 8 year old son! Keeping track of monsters, loot (especially in FH), turn order, conditions/health/experience was, in my opinion, necessary to truly enjoy the game. Now it’s even more helpful being able to keep track of players’ decks and being able to add perks for each deck (not to mention curse/blessing cards). It literally creates so much extra space at the table and helps streamline the whole setup and tear down process so much that players can actually enjoy the gaming experience. I have always been a purist for games and try not to include apps unless it’s required and integrated in the game itself but this is the exception for me because without it, I just end up not playing it. I have three little boys so setting this game up and tearing it down is something I couldn’t do in this season of life historically but with this app I can! I am playing JOTL with my 8 year old right now. We did the first few scenarios without the app so he could grasp the math involved and learn how the game operates but now we have moved on to the app and it allows us to set it up and tear down in the evening with minimal effort. All I can say to the creators of this app is a huge “THANK YOU!” I’m sure I’m not the only one that has experienced this, but personally, without you making this app I don’t think I would have kept playing these games which would have been really sad considering I went all in on GH, FH, and JOTL. Thanks for your passion and implementation for this app. The game developers owe you a huge thank you as well because I don’t think they would have as many players without this app. It being free shows the value you have for, not only this game, but the community of people who love and play these games. I’m running the app through iPad mini. It wasn’t doing this before. I’ve deleted the app, updated the software for iPad mini, reinstalled the X-haven, still can’t stop menu popping open constantly. My iPad mini is new. Then I gave this one a shot and good grief has it reduced the amount of set up and time required to play the game itself. What a fantastic app and the fact that it is free makes it must have for anyone playing this game. I’ve been able to play solo with four characters thanks to it. IF there was one thing that could be improved, it might be the ability to track completion, but honestly that feels like a minor gripe. Works exactly as expected and supports our occasional desire to play with more than recommended number of players. ### 5/5 — Wonderful App (One possible issue) *2024-01-27, version 1.8.7* Don’t hesitate. Get this app and streamline everything about the game. I think maybe there is a slight issue with the enemy’s deck. We are playing JOTL and recently, whenever the enemies get an attack with a shuffle icon, that same card reappears VERY FREQUENTLY. Sometimes 2-3 times in a row.
