### 2/5 — Hello 1987

*2024-12-20, version 1.9*

App and hardware is just a minor skin on a
very old design. Needs to be updated to support dark mode. The module does not sync with internet (for time). It needs to connect to a phone for time. It

### 3/5 — scenes need start time option & motion sensors

*2021-12-10, version 1.7*

let's get more of the basic functionality added activehome was great basic app

### 2/5 — Daylight Savings Time FAIL

*2021-03-14, version 1.5*

Today is 14 Mar 2021 and my 6AM sprinklers did NOT come on! Why??? X-10’s programmers some how can’t figure out the algorithms or don’t know when these happenings occur. Not once has my device understood DST. I ALWAYS have to make a MANUAL changes. I rarely review apps. However, I’ve been using these devices since the 1980’s. The little pod works better than anything they’ve ever had before. However, no 5ghz Wi-Fi and these DST problems make me think that development of newer X-10 products has halted. I hope not. Please fix. I’m too vested in X-10. It works ~95–97% of the time. Hub WiFi problems are very tedious. Sometimes 3-4x’s to re-synch. Happens somehow on DST days. What a coincidence! Please fix!

### 2/5 — QR fails continue even with iOS 14.0.1 iPhone 11 Pro

*2020-10-26, version 1.5*

Still works on iOS 13.5.1 old iPhone 7+, but has always failed -- even after a year of updates of app and iOS -- on iPhone 11 Pro, now iOS 14.0.1 ... reads QR config code (even from a clear picture), and seems OK at first, but always fails to configure, making it unusable. No app support -- Authinx still trying to resurrect old x10 servers (5? years on), never mind maintain code -- preparing to get out of x10 because it's impractical without this software working. Really want working platform, but developer seems to completely ignore users, so not very hopeful.

### 2/5 — I’ve been a customer since the late 1970’s

*2020-05-11, version 1.5*

This year I decided to change to the iPhone wifi... everything went fine until I installed the new firmware when suddenly the app no longer registered the ON/OFF. I’ve tried everything to no avail. In the evening, my lights would turn on but my app did only show the lights OFF although they were on. This is not acceptable as I wouldn’t know if X10 did turn on the lights. Your BAD!

### 1/5 — Needs internet to validate itself

*2020-04-11, version 1.5*

Mine would get 3 stars because while there are some notable flaws works as advertised.... I have owned for over 1 year and all of a sudden stopped connecting
I had internet and was connected to wifi but not to Wm-100
Tried various fixes including total device reset
Could not reregister QR code ... fixed itself some hours later
My guess is because of this Wuhan thing server went down and probably needed to be rebooted ... that means my device controlling my home needs external permission or registration to operate ... that is not why I bought device
I am unhappy
In future I will be checking more carefully before I purchase
Btw X10 commander still worked as did active home pro (after patch which forced it to get authorization from cloud server)

### 1/5 — Poorly supported

*2019-12-19, version 1.5*

A lot of potential but Very poorly supported. History and data sync only work about 1 in 3 tries. Very basic functions. No integration with anything else. And doesn’t even support basic scene times or even a send more than once option to improve reliability.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work in OS 13.3.1

*2019-11-04, version 1.4*

Be careful, since this app will not set up using the current operating system. It is unable to identify your home WiFi network, no matter what you do.

They say they are working on a fix, but let’s wait to see how soon.

Also, as the product manual states (but not the product description, it only works on 2.4 gig. If you have a 5 gig modem/router it won’t work.

### 1/5 — App is not seeing SSID for Network

*2019-10-30, version 1.4*

I got this to continue my experience with my X10 devices after using ActiveHome for years. I have followed all of the procedures provided by Authentix, and I cannot get the app to select the home network I am logged into. It reports a generic WiFi name that I am not connected to. I am running iOS 13 (latest version). I don’t have a way of knowing if the WM100 device works because I can’t get past the network setup. There needs to be a way one can manually input the WiFi SSID, or this app is long overdue for an update to align it with the most recent operating systems.
Does the app developer even care???

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work...

*2019-10-16, version 1.4*

I am a professional computer guy, know how things work, and this does not. Not sure if it’s this app or the X-10 WM100 unit itself, but either way it never ever connects to my Wi-Fi. Right password, device is connected to 2.4GHz, nothing. Blinks & blinks, then fails. Every time. The correct SSID never appears in the setup screen, just shows ‘Wi-Fi’ in the Network box (greyed out). Says it’s supposed to get the SSID from the iPhone, don’t think iPhones allow that.

This app hasn’t been updated in a year, so not likely to be fixed...

### 3/5 — Works- But Wish for Temperature Control and Integration with Wink

*2019-07-13, version 1.4*

As I’d been a long term X10 user, but wanted easy iPhone connectivity, I moved on to Cree and Hue bulbs, removing X10 modules as wall switches but, I still have them all. I will continue to use Cree and Hue bulbs as they’re LED.

But, my MAJOR hang up with moving on to newer home automation offerings, is that one of my 2 AC units is a 220v unit. While I do have a hookup where you wire a rather antiquated looking thermostat to a module, which would control that A.C., I never got around to hooking it up. I’ve searched high and low for the 220v plug, where the prongs look like 2 closed eyes and a nose, but newer home automation companies don’t seem to make that one, nor the prongs with the winking eye.

So, I found out about the WM100 recently and thought I’d try it with my old plug. So far, it works seamlessly with this app. I and my pets will be forever grateful. I can now control that A.C. remotely, without the telephone responder (yep still have that), since I stopped having a landline years ago.

The only issues I have with this is that I think the original PC app “may” have had access to local weather to control the AC by temperature and humidity. It’s been about 30 years since that app so, I’m not sure. But, it would be great if this app linked up to Wink or other home automation systems. I’d be able to use my Quirky Spotter (ver 1) to control the AC unit then.

It would be nice if it were a nicer, more modern looking app but, it works so, other than it not integrating with Wink or other systems that I know of, it works. I’m glad that I never got rid of my many X10 modules and I know that, if I need to I can use a setup where I have a coupled module/thermostat that can operate the AC via house temperature. I have them but, have never used them as, there are but so many outlets in my apartment.

### 2/5 — iPhone yes iPad Air not

*2019-06-20, version 1.4*

Works good on my iPhone 5 but won’t connect to my iPad Air 2
I emailed them and they say it should but it won’t and after searching the internet and reviews I think they need to get off their buts and update this app.

### 2/5 — A Study in Frustration

*2019-02-03, version 1.4*

App worked well (not Great) for several months. When I went to change timers after Holiday Lights came down, nothing but trouble. Called X10, They said call Texas Automation where I purchased. The usual, unplug, reset, move closer, Do this sequence, no improvement. Keep getting notice app couldn’t sync. Only partial older timers work. They need to update the software!

### 1/5 — Stopped working on iPad Air 2 ios12

*2018-11-09, version 1.4*

Works ok on my other iOS devices, but not this one. Others have also complained. We can expect a long wait for correction as I don’t see these people as responsive/ interested at further developing this product...X10 Blog confirms that view.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Worst X10 Product I Have EVER Owned!

*2026-05-06, version 1.9*

I have had X10 for over 30 years. A lot of my original
modules still work. Just had one die with the date code
of September 1998. This box is flaky, finicky, picky to say
the least. Yes, maybe it’s the software and not the interface.
Either way, save your $120 and keep usinng you Cp290, Cm11
and Cm15 controllers with Active Home Pro.

### 1/5 — App last updated in 2022!

*2025-12-06, version 1.9*

Doesn’t work with newest iOS 26.

Should have checked out the app before buying the hardware module (WM 100).

### 1/5 — Lots of bugs

*2025-08-04, version 1.9*

I found out when I purchased some new extend link cameras that I have a lot more options than the original I cannot get the floodlight to work and keeps on changing the time that I want and you can’t turn the lights on and off I don’t know if it’s the camera or the software but Customer Service help isn’t very much sometimes they help and sometimes they just don’t said his device was really good but it seems after the updates I’m having lots of problems

### 1/5 — Pauvre

*2024-06-03, version 1.9*

### 1/5 — Not reliable

*2022-12-09, version 1.9*

You have to refresh several times and/or relaunch the app to connect. And then, it works for a very short time until you have to refresh/relaunch. Please provide a reliable working app.

### 1/5 — These products are not good

*2022-09-28, version 1.8*

I have brought 100s of $ worth of this junk and nothing is reliable. No support no refund, nothing; save your money.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Work

*2022-01-06, version 1.7*

The app worked for about a week and for some reason after that it would not connect. So I tried reconnecting it again and in the process it wiped out all the devices I had set up and when I scan the QR Code I get the error “The APP failed to register user. Please try again”.
Plus the app doesn’t have macros like the PC version.

### 1/5 — WI-FI Hub Worthless

*2021-12-20, version 1.7*

I have used X10 for 30 years. Last really good interface was CM11. Everything since troublesome. X10 is always years behind other systems. Have had CM15 & CM19.; both work but have limited capabilities. WM100 looked like a dream come true. It works fine on iPad 4 with iOS 10.Xcode. Worked OK on iPhone 5S. Switched to iPhone SE 2020 in June 2021. It worked pretty well. Phone updated to iOS 15 and WM hasn’t worked since. It occasionally worked, then quit completely. Tried to reinstall as new WM100, but it won’t even read the QR code. Yes, it’s on 2.4 band.

5 GHz has been around since 1999; the WM100 since about 2017. It was stupid to not make it dual band. So many X10 light switches still were designed for incandescent lamps and won’t work with CFLs or LEDs which consume much less power than the 45 watts minimum that X10 switches require. I have found a few bulbs that will work, but most will not. I have a bunch of useless duplex outlets as a result. Supposedly the latest AM466 3-pin appliance will work with anything and does not have the 45 watt minimum. Either this claim is false or they sold me the old models. I can’t tell because they didn’t have the sense to give it a new model number.

I have long been disappointed, but now I am very ANGRY. I am looking at other systems, but haven’t made a decision, yet. I am sure there is widespread anger out there now.

### 1/5 — App is now 4 years old

*2021-12-10, version 1.7*

So it’s been now 4 years with little to no improvements. App still only supports one X10 Wi-Fi unit per mobile device. So if you bought more than one of the Wi-Fi controllers you have to install the app on separate mobile devices. Many of the other companies have figured out how to enable one smart phone to control multiple devices yet not so for x10. If they are wondering why the cannot sell more units this is the reason. We would have bought more but no one lugs around multiple devices just to control their automation.

### 1/5 — WIFi Module useless with current iPhone software v 13

*2020-06-11, version 1.5*

EPIC FAIL- SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DON’T PURCHASE THE WIFI MODULE IF YOU ARE USING iPhones with software version 13.

It doesn’t sync up with current iPhone at at...it only uses 2.4 GHZ which I tried and turned off all other wireless devices, rebooted both the router and iPhone Xs... still wouldn’t sync data. Tried multiple times from multiple locations ended up sitting right next to the router and it still would sync up.
Scanned QR code
Entered network
Got on WiFi
Sending data....FAIL to Sync!

There is no troubleshooting information at all in product manual and tech support sends you to the X10 wiki knowledge website which has NO information on the WiFi module that I could find...spent a good 2hrs searching and I have a few of X10 products installed in my house so I am familiar with their products and site.

Used to be a good company 10 years ago when I installed my first equipment but seems to have gone downhill since.

Tech support unhelpful...kept sending me to X10 wiki or “Contact them via email “ follow by a canned apology about sorry they are I’m disappointed...then telling me when I return I must pay postage and 15% restocking fee

Be warned...paid $100 for unit... $20 return postage...$15 restocking fee so I’m Out $35! Not to mention 2 hrs of troubleshooting... just so you know and are spared the pain!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — X10 lives on!

*2025-07-03, version 1.9*

I’ve been using X10 modules and home automation since the’80’s. In fact, we have modules that old that are still in use and working today. This WiFi app brings up to date technology to the good old classic X10 system. Happy to see this product and app. It’s not absolutely perfect but darn good enough and very easy to set up and use. Thanks X10!

### 5/5 — Welcomed app

*2021-12-10, version 1.7*

Since finding out everything I need to do on line can be done on an IPad, I no longer need or have a computer. Controlling lights with my phone is the one small luxury I lost. This app along with the X~10 module gave me that luxury back. While the “rooms” and “scenes” features are nice to have, I personally don’t use them. What I can tell you is, “ With X~10 you are only limited by your imagination as to what you can do with them.” Everything from controlling one light on your garage to a complete smart home including security and video.

### 5/5 — Worked out of the box

*2021-07-14, version 1.5*

Easy to set up and it worked without one glitch. Not bad us long-time X10 users.

### 5/5 — Adds a lot of flexibility perfect!

*2018-08-11, version 1.2*

As of 8/11/18 still a masterpiece for me. IPhone X 256 with 11.4.1

No problems even updated the firmware a few days ago. I have X10 from the beginning

I got it up running on my IpX. Remember it must be on 2.4 only. All went well for me and works well. It is so nice to have since many still use X10 in our homes as well as the latest protocols. I have used X10 from the beginning. I have bridges amps and filters. I have a lot of Zwave Zigbee etc.

I have many X10 and they work well as I have developed an understanding of it over decades. They r made well and have stood the test of time. For novices it can be tricky.

This unit seems to respond 2 way which is welcomed. Already received a firmware update and went well. Pleased right out of the box. I am a experienced user

X10 is do super reasonable cost wise.

Thanks for offering this!

### 5/5 — Excellent product

*2018-05-07, version 1.1*

I’ve been using X10 since the seventies and have been waiting for something like this Since X10 stopped making the icon remotes. Hopefully the developers will keep making improvements.

### 5/5 — Works great!

*2018-04-01, version 1.1*

Easy to setup and use.
Could use a function to rearrange the order of the installed devices. It also needs the capability of adding more than 32 devices.

### 5/5 — Yes!!!

*2018-02-17, version 1.1*

Now that the X-10 WiFi hub is here, this is a great app to control X-10 switches and devices from home or away! Simple set up. Timer settings, dawn/dusk, clustered as rooms or scenes, or simple on/off. Clean layout but what I love the most is that the hub can be placed anywhere. Mine is as close as one can get to the breaker box enabling a clear shot to all devices. No more control box! Thanks, Authinx!

### 4/5 — Longtime X10 user; widgets?

*2024-01-06, version 1.9*

I really appreciate and like this X10 app.

Is there any dev attention planned for a widget companion? There are a couple of often used devices I'd like to streamline with either basic functionality and/or scenes.

(I'd give this review 5-stars if the widget were already there)

### 4/5 — Pretty Good But Needs Enhancements

*2019-12-15, version 1.5*

Loading in individual units was easy enough. Software updates are what they are and Internet services have to be up and running. My biggest suggestion would be to add the ability to easily reorder the list of devices.

### 4/5 — Good but needs improvement

*2019-04-06, version 1.4*

Functions well, I rely on the timers and I’ve never had an issue with that part. Setup can be difficult, the app interface is hard to understand at first, I got used to it. It looks like the app was designed strictly for function, but more functions would be nice. I would like to able to suspend the timers for holidays and such, but the only way to do that is to delete the timers. How about a suspend function? It would also be nice to organize the scenes I create instead of only the order I make them, same for timers.
