User reviews

“Save Password” doesn’t

Really not sure why PortX is being abandoned in favour of a worse alternative

Response from developer

Thank you for your review. Xcasca is nearly identical to PortX. However, Xcasca does have the option to subscribe for certain premium features such as cloud data sync. Xcasca's default version is still completely free and most users will find it more than sufficient. You mentioned in your title that "Save Password" does not work. Are you saying that the password is not saved to the session when you check "Save password" and enter it? We are unable to reproduce this issue from our end. Can you email us at support@xcasca.com so we can further assist you?

Works great!

Been using it for a few months on the “free” plan and is one of the better SSH clients I’ve used. Also like their privacy policy.

Where SFTP?

Hello! It’s good apps, but I don’t understand where switch the interface for sftp work. Help me, plz

Response from developer

Thank you for your review. SFTP is currently only available on Xcasca Desktop. However, it will be released in the near future for our mobile version as well.

Far too expensive subscription only for something that used to be free with upgrades.

This used to be free for basic stuff, it suggests you can do a one time purchase with buy now text under a 90 day trial funnel, you get there to see $4/month or $72/year, no option to buy outright. I was an occasional user across platforms, you can tell how occasional almost two months since they made the change and I found out just now with a rude slap across the face.

Response from developer

Thank you for your review. Xcasca is FREE to use. You are referring to our paid tier which includes premium features such as cloud data sync. However, the majority of our users will find Xcasca's free tier identical in functionality with our previous app, PortX. To clarify, no subscription is required to use Xcasca and it can be used for FREE.

Attempting to monetize non valuable service

I understand the need for developers to charge for the work they do when they offer a valuable service. I don’t actually mind paying for something like this, but the problem in this case is that they’re attempting to monetize something that isn’t worth paying for. I switched to Xcasca and didn’t immediately try the free trial. Instead, I tried it without opening an account and created several sessions pointed to several of my remotes. At the end of the day, I liked the app well enough, so I went ahead and started the free trial. When I did that, it DELETED all of my sessions and known hosts. So now I have to go back in and find all of those URLs and set up all of those remote hosts again. My worry now is that I’m in the free trial period, and I’m concerned that if I set up all of my hosts again, and then switched to the paid subscription, all of my host will be deleted yet again.

I really and truly don’t mind paying for a service that is valuable to me. But a service as half-assed as this one, and as frustrating as this one, makes me not want to pay.

Response from developer

Thank you for your review. Your "Local" account and the user account you created to start the trial are two separate accounts. The sessions you created in your Local account have not been deleted. They exist in your Local account. We are working on functionality so that users will easily be able to migrate any Local account session files to a user account. We understand your confusion, and this has been reported to our devs to further improve the user experience. I can assure you that moving from a trial to a paid subscription will NOT delete any sessions. Your feedback is much appreciated.
