It is unclear if I am able (and should actually) installing this on my other devices. I am unsure if this is even supported or how to go about this. Then I stopped using Xero and deleted this app. Which made it SO MUCH WORSE when I started using Xero it again. Do not make your sign in this much of a hassle, I tried to navigate the website to find an alternative verification and did not get a straight answer whatsoever and no reply from customer service. Ridiculous. AND doesn’t even work. Trying to enter a 6 digit code that refreshes every 5 seconds and DOES NOT WORK. It will only allow you to use their stupid Xero Verify app I just signed up for Xero today And now I have to cancel it because I can’t log in due to their completely idiotic authenticator. Whoever is writing that this thing is a good app is definitely someone paid by their company. This thing is trash. Every month, we have to reset the bank fees and go through the process of logging in over and over again and downloading statements when the bank refuses to work. The software doesn’t even have a proper shipping layout for Shipping fields. We have to. After half a dozen attempts to resend and checking all my app settings I gave up used used the typed in the code instead. This option is also frustrating and non intuitive. ### 1/5 — RUN FOR THE HILLS *2026-04-12, version 1.9.2* I have canceled my Xero subscription multiple times, yet I continue to be charged. Every attempt to resolve this issue turns into a dead end because I’m blocked from accessing my own account due to their authentication system. Xero claims you can use third-party authenticator apps like Duo, but in practice, it repeatedly throws errors and prevents login. At that point, it’s hard not to question whether this is by design—forcing users into their proprietary authentication setup just to regain account access. The result is a ridiculous loop: you can’t log in without jumping through unnecessary hoops, and you can’t cancel effectively without logging in—yet billing continues uninterrupted. That’s not just frustrating, it raises serious concerns about unauthorized recurring charges and basic account access rights. For a company handling financials and payroll, this level of friction is unacceptable. We can easily login or even switch devices whenever we want. Clicking directly on the notifications make logging on super fast, a real pleasure. It’s great to know that Xero supports their own software allowing for a fully in-house multi factor authentication app here. Great job! ### 5/5 — Great app *2024-05-07, version 1.9.0* Great app ### 5/5 — Don’t pay attention to Boomer reviews *2023-12-24, version 1.9.0* This app is so simple and easy to use but for aging boomers that don’t understand how security works while complaining they are always being “hacked,” the idea of having to use another app to sign on (according to their reviews of this app) is an egregious violation of their petty time that would have been wasted in countless other ways. They can’t stand that they have to actually learn how to use something and just want the most simple process because they are entitled and juvenile refusing to learn and grow. This, in my opinion, is a very typical culture problem with the boomers and older generations. They can’t give an honest review because they can’t have an honest conversation with themselves about having to adapt. They are the cog in the wheel of our society blaming the younger generations for this complex technology while also reaping all the benefits of growing up in a time where they had access to incredible wealth, cheap housing, retirement plans and more. But instead of trying to understand how this two factor authorization app would help prevent the constant hacking of their personal information, they’d rather complain about a simple process that disrupts their simple lives and get mad about it. One of the reviews was “now my accountant can’t access the app.” That makes sense. These boomers can’t navigate an online menu nor communicate with another person to active them. It literally took me almost no time at all to simply email my accountant to activate an account for them to use. Now I don’t have to worry as much about being compromised. Thanks Xero for prioritizing security and not bending to these archaic geriatric dinosaurs that need to step aside and let us young folks take over. ### 5/5 — Annoying but it works *2023-11-06, version 1.9.0* I didn’t want to review this before I got a chance to use it for a few days. I understand why people are upset about having to always verify when logging in, but after using this for a while I personally never had an issue with it and the app is responsive and works very well. As a reseller, I liked the user interface of Xero more than QuickBooks online so this is a minor inconvenience. Annoyance yes, but does it work? MFA is standard practice across the board now, so get over it. Also you don’t need to use Xero Verify: you can use Authy or Google Authenticate. Also you can use the backup email option. Also you shouldn’t be sharing your login credentials. Set up new accounts for your other users and they can then setup their own MFA. Stop being a baby and learn something about the importance of MFA in security. Lack of knowledge, in my opinion. If they don’t like 2FA they should not be criticising this app but rather arguing with their management (who can explain the huge risks to their business from simple login).
